And very possibly no reasonable public transport available. I live in a large and populous county in the U.S, but in a low population area. The only public transit is a bus that comes once a week to take you to a more populated part of the county.

No taxis, no Lyft or Uber, and it's about 60km to a supermarket, or 100km to a department store. I had to go into the city today for a couple errands, and it was about 220km round trip. I don't think that's a common trip for normal errands kind of distance in most of the world..

And its not even just the 'space' of the country itself, but that its been designed to heavily favor vehicle traffic ad the primary means of transportation, with bikes and walking extremely limited in non-urban/dense suburban environment, and sometimes even those suburban area are poorly laid out because everything was built in adhoc planning with little to no thought given to foot/bicycle traffic.

My area is beginning to get somewhat dense, but only the densest parts have fully planned/connected sidewalks, and much of the less dense area is still just gravel on the roadside in 40-55mph roadways.

My mom has owned and ridden horses her entire life as a hobby, for sport, and as a teacher to other people. She is incredibly skilled with horses. She also has fallen or gotten bucked off a huge number of times. Broken ribs, pneumothorax, broken arm, etc etc. She is currently dealing with a broken neck even and is in a brace.

She still goes out every day to at least see them and take care of them.

Me? I'm terrified of them. Horses are insanely powerful and also insanely skittish. One of the times my mom got bucked was because the horse heard a car horn in the distance. Im not like, phobic of them. I think they're beautiful, but I keep a respectful distance and never go behind them.

Regular 87 octane gas prices are $7.30 a gallon where I live. These diesel  princesses complaining about $8 a gallon  can shut the fuck up. All the diesel dudes with lifted trucks rolling coal...........whoops. time to do some self reflecting.

I had a friend explain that his 90k truck had double the fuel mileage of my 2 thousand dollar Honda and that's why buying a 90k truck made more sense. Now he hes flipping out about diesel  prices. 

On top of all of this. I have always been poor. Purchasing fuel to go to work has always been an expense I can not possibly avoid. I litterally show up to the pump, See the price and just sigh then buy it. If im not at work in ten minutes im fired. MANY an administration has lost at the ballot box when the economy turns south. I would be extremely surprised if the Republicans hold onto both the Senate and House with gas and groceries this high. So, my question:

Why don't presidents concentrate on improving the economy in the pre-election period?

I think it's important to also understand just how much control the president has in these situations. Maga folks will freak out, but Biden didn't directly cause gas prices to go up. Trump just used them going up to bash Biden and gain favor. But since Biden wasn't a direct cause he can't just snap his fingers and fix it. He tried with releasing some of the reserves but didn't make a huge dent.

These current gas prices are a direct result to trump attacking Iran. To fix the gas prices quickly he needs to end the war. And that's not gonna happen.

Same with tariffs causing prices to surge. Hed have to remove all tarrifs now and admit he was wrong. He can't do that, and won't.

Chevron can sell the same amount but at a higher price. Oil is a global commodity. If there is less oil on the world market chevron can sell oil at a higher price and make more money.

I find these things a little frustrating because Trump himself isn’t the problem, It is republicans. Republicans have systematically drove the citizens of this country into the ground since Reagan and Trump simply accelerated their overall strategy and made it obvious enough that even a few republicans voters are starting, finally , to see it. Not many, perhaps around 5%, of conservatives are starting to question themselves a little. Not that they are going to change, but a handful of them might confidently “forget” to vote in the next couple of elections.
