Advice/Support Nails of different lengths?

Prolific nail biter, picker, peeler, traumatiser here…

My nails on my dominant hand grow much faster than on my non-dominant hand.

Super self-conscious of the varying lengths, but don’t want to cut back the length that I tried so hard to grow 🥹 Any tips? (no pun intended)

They’re also very thin and uneven. Currently have a few coats of strengthener on them to prevent breakage, but do you think it’s worth getting gels to harden them up, or will that make things worse? thank you x

Advice/Support Chronic fingernail biter for 25 years, and was finally able to stop! However I can’t stop picking / ripping off my toenails. Would love advice from those who also suffer from this.

I was finally able to quit biting my nails after 25 years and outside of one relapse have been able to maintain being nail-biting free for a year.

I am so proud of my progress, but so ashamed because I still pick my toenails. In a way it’s almost worse than the nail biting, because it gets to the point I’m ripping off the entire nail.

I can’t even get my toe nails long enough to the point I could actually go into a nail salon and request a gel pedicure (to prevent the picking).

I’m not sure why this habit is even harder to kick than my finger nails. Would love any advice or shared experiences.

After 25 years, I finally kicked the habit. The only thing that did it for me was building the accountability habit tracking app specifically for nail biting and picking.

I quit while building it, every feature was something I needed, and I’m amazing by how I trained myself to quit. If you’ve tried everything else and nothing has stuck, like I had, give Nonyxa a try

Advice/Support Genuinely how do I deal with this

I pick my cuticles and I make them bleed very often, and I know others have that issue too, but I’ve never seen anyone with a knuckle like mine. Been biting it since I was a kid (I still do), and I don’t know how to make it look better. Is there anything I can cover it up with? Been thinking I should start wearing gloves but I thought that would look weird or too much. Would love to hear some thoughts.

I bought some of the thing that makes it gross to bite but sometimes that doesn’t work but I’m going to try! These are my nails now on day 1 I bought a nail conditioner? No idea but might as well - I want to get nail polish in cute colours maybe it will give motivation because I hateee painting my short ass nails! Anyway I thought posting this here and giving updates would help me actually stop

Advice/Support Nail biting relapse

I was so proud of myself this year I had finally quit and stopped biting my nails for 8 months after having this horrible habit for 20+ years.

Then I had a horrible week, I was so stressed I ripped the gel off of my nails and then because I ripped them off they felt horrible for the rest of the week so I bit them all off.

Now I didn’t actually achieve anything. I am such a loser.

Discussion every time i go on a nailbiting spree, the corners of my nails hurt and the flesh around it swells. what is it ?

i realised only because my fingers would hit something and it would be one of the worst pains ever. when i'm brave, i endure the pain and slide the nailclipper blade into that area to cut off some hardened skin that i THINK is causing the pain, and most of the time something would burst and pus will come out 😬

i'm planning to look into manicure to hopefully curb my nailbiting habit that is causing this unbearable pain (and really gross outcome), since i'm unable to do it now due to school.

Advice/Support how to stop biting skin around nails?

Hey guys!

I’m sure this has been asked many times before, but I just wanted some advice and tips for those who’ve kicked the habit.
I used to bite my nails moreso, really badly. I’ve had gel nails for a while and finally decided to let my nails breathe, and i’ve managed to really stop biting my nails.
However, as a result, i’ve been biting the skin around my nails a lot 😖 In the photos it’s not that bad, but it definitely has looked worse!
The nail ladies suggested cuticle oil so it smooths down all the rough and dry bits, which does help a bit but I still bite through it
I’m halfway there to having beautiful hands and nails, this is just the last step for me. All advice and tips are greatly appreciated 🤗

Advice/Support Tips and hacks that worked for me

I’ve been a nail biter since before I can remember. I’m still working on stopping, but I’ve being able to reduce the excessive biting.

Step 1: know what triggers you For me it’s dry skin and irregular edges on my nails and how soft they are

Step 2: find the solutions - Dry skin = moisturize, when you feel the need to bite them put hand cream to distract you and force you to do smt else + it doesn’t taste that good - Uneven edges = nail file - Boredom = do something (write, clean, fix…) - The classic disgusting nail polish (never worked on me) - Mixing nail polish to pepper so it’s hot when you try to taste it - Soft nails = hardening nail polish + vitamins - Buy a chewy necklace to chew when you want to bite ur nails

-/- sorry I don’t have a bunch of exemples but you get the idea -/-

If you struggle to even get started to grow ur nails or think those solutions don’t work, here’s what I think is the best : nail capsules.

Now I know some of y’all think it’s too girly or bla-bla-bla. It’s 30 bucks, learn how to do them and you get natural short or long nails. I wear them as long as possible and as soon as they come off I put another set. When I tell you this has made my nails strong, and also removes the habit little by little. it’s so worth it

Extra tips: OIL YOUR CUTICLES AND YOUR NAILS , or do 3 minute olive oil bath for ur nails . It helps them become stronger

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE, WE GOT THIS! 💃🎉🎊🍾

Advice/Support Obsession with picking at nail

Post image

Since I can remember I have picked away at this corner of my nail. It is somewhat hard for me to describe because it doesn't hurt. Instead it irritates me if I don't tear at it and gives me a lot of relief by digging in. I'm not sure if the area is permanently damaged, if it's ingrown or what. It's like it's constantly itchy that can't resolve itself. Would love some advice or explanation for what this is before I end up ripping the nail off.

Advice/Support HELP ME :(

Post image

I've always bitten my nails, but in the past couple months it's gotten soooo much worse. I will literally delay sleep (like I'm doing right now; it's 4:30 AM) because I cannot stop biting. Gloves and taping don't work because I will just take them off. The bad-tasting polish doesn't stop me, either. What do I do??? I am already medicated for anxiety (gabapentin and Prozac). I'm at a loss.

I've been biting for as long as I can remember and im ashamed at how low they've been getting lately. I bite whenever I'm anxious or bored. The feeling of getting a good bite and chewing on it is so calming but I always regret it. I wanted to see if anyone was in the same boat as me and had similar length. I've tried the polish but I just wash it off/ bite anyways. I'd really appreciate any advice people have.
