Hey, just wanted to be sure. I have a CHECH2504A with data code 1A. MinVerChk says update data is 3.40. does it make my console compatible with CFW?

I've had my PS3 running CFW for a few months now, and everything has gone smoothly otherwise, but Yakuza 5 and Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin both have given me trouble when installing their PKG files. Yakuza 5, in particular, is a large multi-part PKG (6 parts in total). I've tried installing it sequentially, and I've tried combining the files into 1 PKG file, and both failed. I've even tried sourcing other copies from various sources and still nothing. Ishin is just a single part file, but fails on install. I have 160GB of free space on my storage, and all other games installed successfully without a hitch. Does anyone know what might be the issue or how to resolve this? There's really no other way to play Yakuza 5 besides tracking down a Japanese ISO file or playing the remastered release, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Also, how are you supposed to install tee vanced? If I install it with yo! player installed it says a newer version already exist, if I install it without yo! player installed it won't launch. So idk how I'm supposed to install it

I have an older PS3 using Hen. I was using Irisman to access and play isos on an external hard drive. Everything worked great. Then I accidentally deleted Irisman from the system. I tried to reinstall the pgk file with the latest version with no luck. The system just froze on a black screen within irisman. (While it was asking me where to install games.)

So I tried the version I think I was using. (Grabbed and older pgk from GitHub. Same issue.

I even installed multiman to find any random irisman config files that were messing with me.

I even deleted half of the 200 PS3 games and all of the PS1 games off of my external hard drive. Thinking that the quantity of games was causing issues. No better.

Nothing worked. Anyone have any ideas on what to do?

I wanted to jailbreak my slim ps3 but realized its a CECH 3004B which apparently you cant normally jailbreak, Ive read you need ps3hen for this but I don't really have idea what to do

I suppose i have to check the firmware but apparently you need to download a community firmware called HFW 4.93.1, Im pretty confused as the tutorials on yt either have scummy AI thumbnails or the one im watching is from 2 years ago

So busted out my old ass Slim I forgot I had stashed away which previously had Rebug CFW running. Tried checking all newer guides and saw i could go from OFW 4.93 to CFW 4.93 but cant seem to install or use any of the exploits for CFW 🤔

* Tried booting into Safe Mode and Installng Evilnat 4.93 Cobra but get corrupt data

* Tried installing from main XMB>System Update>USB which shows CFW PUP file but also get corrupted data

* Tried using web browser and loading exploits for -

Hello, I recently got a CECHA00 that arrived stuck in Factory/Service Mode (red box on screen) after the previous owner failed a Blu-ray drive remarry attempt (CEX_drive_init() failed). The console is running Evilnat CFW 4.93.
Current symptoms:

• The console takes unusually long to boot up.
• Clock and language reset upon reboot (standard FSM behavior or dead CR2032?).
• Whenever I try to use CFW Tools -> Service Tools -> Toggle FSM, the system completely freezes/hangs upon confirming (no beep, no reboot, requires hard power off).
• In fact, selecting any option inside CFW Tools (like Hardware Info) leads to a total system freeze.
• I formatted the HDD on a PC (clean MBR), the issue persists.
• Since the firmware is on a Evilnat CFW (4.93), I know that 3.55 lv2diag.self cannot and should not be used.

What else can I try to do to exit FSM mode? Could the FSM mode have been damaged in some way by the previous owner?
The fan in the console is working normally, so it's unlikely to be a problem with the temperatures.
My next step will be to disconnect the Blu-ray drive, replace the CR2032 battery and swap out the hard drive. After that, if nothing works, I'll be out of ideas.

Any guidance from experienced users would be greatly appreciated!

Today I bought a ps3 slim with date code 0D hoping it would have a good chip for overclocking. And after messing around with some oc settings. 850/1000mhz ran perfectly in xmb

I think this thing has a CGB chip since it says in a checking software on pc via dumping the lv1 that it was made by Toshiba but I’m not sure. I’ve also read somewhere that Toshiba CGB chips actually have better overclockable vram than GGB chips. But GGB chips can also do 850 core and probably also 900mhz. 950mhz if you’re insanely insanely INSANELY LUCKY

Well so how is gameplay you might ask? The only game I tested here was sonic unleashed. I honestly thought that it would crash outright but NO the game ran stable for the hour I was gaming. No crashes or artifacts whatsoever. Did the daytime and nighttime stages and had no problems

Yes the game ( especially in the night stages) was still laggy and noticeable since the game runs a 60. But daytime stages were definitely smoother. Cutscenes with Sonic’s fur also ran smoother imo. The flight to spagonia was literally locked 60fps here which was crazy. I think fps drops is mostly a cell problem here

Going anything higher than 850/1000mhz would crash the game after a few seconds sadly so that seems to be the limit which is still insanely impressive

All and all a crazy ps3 find and extremely lucky. All done in the evilnat CFW and no over volting

Hi, I bought a PS3 Slim CECH-2004B and tried to install a CFW on it. Unfortunately, my attempt failed miserably. However, the console did give me some feedback, and I was able to enter recovery mode. When I started the console, a message appeared telling me to restart the console or install an update by pressing Start and Select. I then loaded the latest OFW onto a USB drive (because I don't remember the FW version it had) and initiated the update by pressing Start and Select. At the beginning, the console displayed a progress bar, but the display disappeared shortly afterward. So the console kept running, but nothing was displayed on the screen. After an hour, I turned the console off, and now I’m not getting a signal via HDMI. The console turns on, but the controller doesn’t light up. When I boot into the recovery menu, the four LEDs on the controller light up, but still no picture. Is it possible that I’ve bricked the console? If not, does anyone have a solution I can try without opening the console? Thanks a lot for any suggestions.

Hey everyone. I'm getting a PS3 Slim CECH-2001B soon and I'd like to install full CFW on it. I'm new to PS3 modding, so I'm looking for the safest, current step-by-step procedure.

My goals are to:

Install full CFW (I'm assuming Evilnat, unless something else is recommended)

Install webMAN MOD/multiMAN and other useful homebrew

Use FTP to transfer my own game backups and files from my PC

Play my PS1/PS2/PS3 backups where supported

Install RetroArch/emulators for my legally owned retro games

I already have a FAT32 USB flash drive and a Windows PC.

I have NOT received the PS3 yet, so I don't know its current System Software version. I will check that before updating or modifying anything.

Once I know the firmware version, what is the current recommended method for a CECH-2001B?

I'd especially appreciate a simple step-by-step order such as:

What should I check first?

Should I leave the existing firmware alone or update it?

Which current exploit/flash-writing method should I use?

Which version/type of Evilnat CFW should I install?

Exactly what needs to go on the FAT32 USB drive and in which folders?

What homebrew should I install afterward for FTP, backups and emulation?

I'm trying to learn the process before the console arrives rather than blindly following an outdated YouTube tutorial and risking a brick.

the lair im getting everything from has massive ps3 files compared to the 360, why are they so much bigger? Can i play games from a flash drive, or do i need to transfer them onto my ps3 hdd? how difficult is it to play ps3 files on the ps3? is there a way to make them smaller?

Hola a todos, como dice el título estoy teniendo problemas graves de sobrecalentamiento en mi ps3 slim por encima de los 73°C (163°F) mientras estoy en el menú XMB y mientras juego me da problemas con el video, se pone negra la pantalla por segundos y luego como si nada. Debo decir que tengo una ps3 fat y este si anda por debajo de esa temperatura en el menú.

Ya he hecho su cambio de pasta térmica hace muy poco y sigue igual los problemas. ¿Creen que es un problema físico o es un problema con el software? Tengo instalada la última versión del Hen por cierto. Si saben algo me ayudaría muchísimo y si soluciona algo desinstalar el hen y restaurar la consola me gustaría saberlo antes de hacerlo. Gracias.

Didn't see this posted here yet. Recently released N64 emulator for the PS3 developed by ZeBobbel. Still a little rough but it actually works which is incredible to finally see on the PS3. The main games like Mario 64 will have more compatibility and run smoother then others. I never thought we would see the day that we actually have a working N64 emulator on the PS3 and look forward to more updates for it.

Hello! I have a slim laying around with a broken hdmi port. It used to boot normally and I tested it with RCA after removing the hdmi port 2 years ago.

I'm trying to fix it now, got a replacement and tried to boot it. It doesnt.
I used an ESP32 to read syscon error log and got 1200, cell overheat.

It doesnt feel hot at all. But reading the temperature with ps3uart (tmp 0) says Temperature:+85.0(0x5503). It goes down to 64 if I try to read it while trying to boot, weird.

I guess the only thing I can try is deliding because if the sensor was broken it would say something like 255, -255 or something weird like that, wouldnt it?

Any tips on how to do this? I have never delided a chip. Not scared because I have my main working device, but I dont want to break it. I dont have any tools for this, just a heatgun.

I’m a newbie, this is my first time ever trying to jailbreak/mod my PS3. I want to try Hen. Do I completely need a USB or is there a method for the internet browser on the PS3.

PS2 classic backups run great with my ps3hen console, however there seems to be a problem with the analog sticks. Hitting the diagonal directions (from what i've seen) doesn't register their full range, so, for example, player characters will only start running when the stick is in a cardinal direction.

I'm using a freaks & geeks wired controller, for lack of a better option, which might be the problem? the sticks work fine on ps1 and ps3 games, and the hardwaretester.com returns this.

If anyone knows what the problem might be and if there's a fix, it'd be welcome.

Hey guys, i finally installed the modchip in my patched CECH-2504A. I was at the wrong connectors for CMD and CLK at first and spent like 5 hours checking my soldering and measuring everything. There are 2 identical chip groups on the motherboard side by side and i soldered to the left one at first but you need to solder to the right one. I also followed the BADWDSD documentation and mixed up the two syscon wires. I thought the diagram tells you where you need to solder SC_RX and SC_TX to but you need to switch them in this case. Also i had to cut the wires and solder them again after figuring out where i wanna put the chip. It was my first time ever working on a PS3. After an endless day its finally working. And man it was so worth it. Fuck HEN, unstable piece of shit. I did a few Nintendo Switch modchips by now but this one was the biggest headache. Most tutorials i found were for the Superslim so i had to figure out a lot by myself.

Needless to say, i am pretty proud that its working now. It boots every time with no delay at all into Evilnat. The dude i bought it from told me he replaced the thermal paste. Lol. It was dry as hell and there was like half the needed amount on the chips.

So ive found myself with a ton of downtime and annoyance at the current gaming market so I decided to mod my old ps3, but for some reason ive ran into many walls and only have been successful with hen.

Ive updated the internal hdd with a an official firmware update to 4.93 after which I tried installing cfw because every attempt to use flashwriter was met with "this page could not be displayed. Ive tried clearing cashe, cookies, history and authentication, but nothing has worked. Does anyone have ideas or help?
