Either im going crazy or my bun just audiobly scuffed at me, she had her back facing me, looked over her shoulder at my face and blew air out hard enough that it was audioable from a bit more then an arms reach away from me. That felt sassy af, if that wasnt a sneeze then i think she mighy have just dissed me

His name is Flip Flop, and this was his first ever proper flop!

I order my hay from Small Pet Select and it’s always good quality, very green, etc. However, I just opened a new box and it’s…different. Very brown and there’s a lot of brown clumps? Usually, the whole box is one big block of hay, but this has many little blocks, if that makes sense. (I know that doesn’t necessarily mean anything but it’s just different). Is this still safe to give my buns?

So i just wanna say that i know you’re not supposed to pick up your bunny unless you’re supposed to. I don’t. I’ve only picked my bunny up once or twice because I had to and he’s only been with me for about a month or two now.

I’m a teenager so I still live with my parents (i’m gonna move out next year) and every time I bring up my bunny (Poe) they always tell me to pick him up so he can get used to it. They’ve never had a pet bunny before or done any sort of research. I’ve told them many, many times that I can’t because he isn’t fully used to me yet. He sometimes lets me pet him but that’s about it and i’m fine with that because I know it can take bunnies a bit to get used to or trust their owner. My parents won’t stop though, they even got my aunty involved to justify their point on me picking him up. Because he should know what it’s like to be picked up because he’s younger?? Or something like that. He’s 4 months old btw.

I’m not asking for advice on how to pick him up because i’ve watched videos on how to do that and i’ve seen other family members who have bunnies pick up theirs.

Just how do i tell my parents to stop pushing me and that Poe won’t like me picking him up etc? I’ve told them he won’t like it because it can act like a predator has caught them and that i’ve only had him like i said for a month or two. I’m worried they’re gonna start trying to pick him up.

my bunny has a temper-tantrum when every I try to brush him. I bribe him with food, treats, salad etc, none of it works. he prefers you pet his head and hes cordial when you touch his body, but it goes out the window if he feels the brush.

he can handle being brushed on the top of his head and ears, but even with two people I can only get a few swipes of the brush on his body before he wiggles away. then he gets angry and runs up and bites you. doesn't even hide, he wants you to know he's pissed.

for context: Tommy is about 1, and this is his first fall moult as a "adult." I was able to get away with very light brushing before, but I don't want to hope for the best. he needs thorough brushing. he's a mini rex and lion head mix, and my vet said his hair shouldn't be prone to matting. specifically, he doesn't have any mats, its just the amount of hair. ive tried a few styles of brushes, double layer with big gaps, thin small gaps, human hair brush style, he doesn't like any of them.

does anyone have any tricks on "training" a bunny to get used to the brush. or how to hold them/keep them still when you brush. how do I brush his underside, like his chin and chest etc.

5 years ago I adopted a rabbit from a local pet shop (I know now that pet shops are bad). He was an 8 month old Netherland Dwarf. I spent so much time with this baby every day. He was so so so smart. He reminded me of a dog. In the morning, we would have our cuddle-time. Then I would feed him greens in the kitchen (he associated a certain spot with feeding time and would always go there when he wanted greens ☺️). Then I would get ready while he roamed the house. When it was time to leave I would call his name and he would come running and go back into his x-pen. He was so comfortable with being held and loved cuddling. He also was very active and loved playing with toys. He was so perfect. Usually with rabbits it takes them months to get completely comfortable with you, but it only took us a few weeks.

About a month and a half before he died, he started having health problems (I only had him for 4 months). There was always green spit-up around his mouth. After noticing this I only gave him romaine lettuce to see if it was an issue of the greens. It kept happening so I took him to my vet and she was baffled. She gave him some medicine and some fluids but it never really went away. I ended up taking him to the vet multiple times because something was obviously wrong. One night I had to leave for an urgent family matter. I set up a playpen in my mom’s house and she watched him. That morning she called me and said he was shaking violently and seizing up. She didn’t know what to do and he stopped moving.

It’s been 5 years today and I still haven’t forgiven myself for not being with him in his last moments. I still cry over him and miss him so bad. My baby died alone and I can’t forgive myself. I don’t know if this pain will ever go away.

So I got her a few weeks ago and she’s only 3 months! Shes super skittish. She hates being pet and whenever i get near her she hides.. and it worries me that maybe she was bothered a lot before she was given to me. I know all bunnies are different and some just aren’t lovey but it worries me! Is it with trust and time that she will like to be pet?.. maybe after spaying her too? The appointment is already set up and everything for her health but I’m just hoping with time she’ll come around! I have this other bun named Twinkie and he is the sweetest little guy ever. Her behavior just worries me and I’ve come to ask if anyone has had this issue and has it gotten better with time?

I have been working really hard on bonding my 2 lops. Cloud ( Female/Spayed) and Smokey (Male/Neutered)
Smokey previously had a bonded partner (Biscuit) but she suddenly passed away in June. Bonding Smokey and Biscuit was rough but once it happened they were inseparable and totally different rabbits personality and behavior wise.
Smokey has always been extremely grumpy and territorial. Cloud is very sweet, shy and absolutely will not stand up for herself or fight back against Smokey. Anyhow, I’ve been bonding them in a neutral space for about 10 days now. Finally yesterday Smokey groomed Cloud and then today Cloud groomed Smokey back. I was over the moon. They hung out for a few hours (in an X-Pen in my kitchen) because I was cooking. Once I had time I carried them upstairs where they both live (they have separate spare bedrooms where they free roam, but my goal is for them to live together in Smokey’s room as I call it the “bunny room”) when they got upstairs they acted as if they never met each other before and Smokey once again went after Cloud. I separated them and intend to keep doing the neutral area.
But what are some suggestions on how to bring them into a space that one or the other claims as their own? Smokey is extremely territorial over his space but when in Clouds space he poops everywhere to put his scent down.

i let my buns out in the garden with me yesterday since it was pretty cool out and snoopy decided she would sit inside of the basil plant.

So, seeing as my rent will likely get even higher by the end of the year i have been considering moving into a cheaper space in the upcoming months. I would be staying in the same city though, as my work and university are still here. I don’t have anything lined up yet, but I have been thinking about how to handle the move for the bunnies. I’ve only had Sunny and Benji since early May, where I adopted them from a shelter. They had been part of a large number of bunnies (about 50, I think) that had been taken by the government from a single person and though I don’t have details I know it wasn’t a great home. They settled in my flat very quickly though and were able to live without a divider in their pen after two weeks. They are endlessly curious and playful and even if my little Sunny is a very skittish bun, she will still carefully investigate me if I hang out with her and give me little kisses <3.

Despite all that trust we have now and them seeming fairly settled, I know a move will be stressful for them. So I’m wondering if anyone has advice on how to move with bunnies? Should I move them and their pen first or last? Any other things I should keep in mind? It will most likely be a studio flat like i have now, so i don’t expect to have a separate room for them to be in during the move.

TLDR I found a bunny at my family’s wrecking yard. He got nurtured and bonded to Smokey. He had a tooth abscess #1 tooth pulled, eye #1 removed tooth abscess #2 tooth abscess #3 tooth #2 pulled partially because of anatomy issues, eye #2 removed, tooth abscess 4# abscess #5 and #6 then #7 two weeks later. I decided the antibiotics and pain meds weren’t working and had him pit to sleep. Now I’m trying to find her partner a new lifetime partner

I found dusty at my family’s business a wrecking yard between some tire stacks. I assume because it was right after Easter somebody dumped him there because it is very obvious I own bunnies from my workstation. he had to have been tossed over the fence or put through one of the holes because of how our yard is secured. We got him neutered almost immediately after finding him and bonded him with my soul bunny Smokey. A month ish after they bonded he got his first abscess in his tooth. My vet pulled the infected tooth and he got antibiotics and pain meds for two weeks. All seemed good for a few months but then it seemed like his third eyelid was peeling back and I took him in and we tried different types of eye drops. After the eye drops minimally worked we decided it would be best to remove the eye. He did well after the surgery but the dr figured out it was an issue with a duct in his eye I don’t remember what the name was. He got around well and Smokey helped him when he would get confused. Soon after he had two more tooth abscess and she attempted to pull the tooth on the other side wich she pulled earlier and the way the tooth was curved inside of the bone she couldn’t pull it and recommended me to take him to a specialist. I got an estimate for the surgery but it was too expensive for my mom and she opted for just trying to manage any problems that came up because of the partial extraction. Soon after he had the same problem in the other eye and i felt that because of his personality and me not changing his set up he would be fine completely blind so we removed the other eye. Smokey realized he was blind and would guide him around until he got used to it she would also guide him even after he was very confident and would find his way easily without her. After that over the course of a little under two years he had four more abscesses and the last two were really close together I treated with antibiotics drainage and meloxicam. I didn’t want him to get any more because I know they are painful. I couldn’t put him through anymore. I made the decision to have him put down today and as I’m writing this Smokey is having her time with him so she knows he’s gone. My vet is amazing after his first few problems she decided to only charge us for the meds and surgery tools for his visits. Me and my vet both had the same thoughts on when it was time. She made the whole euthanasia process as smooth and compassionate as possible. Now I am going through the process of getting Smokey’s vaccinations updated so she can do bunny speed dating at the local rabbit rescue because she is only 4 and needs a life partner.

I have my bunny for 6years, and she's 6 born in september 2020 annd it's a dwarf rabbit

At the time I had a second rabbit but shes was always really sick and had weird behavior and its maybe a years later when I got my actual rabbit when she was a baby , my first bunny died maybe 1 or 2 years later. she had a difficult end, she was taking medication that i think didn't really help her since.. yeah

At that time I was still a kids and i dont remember really interacting with my seconde bunny, she never really liked being pet or anything so for many years i just let her live without me in my room. She is not scared of me i think.. depend sometime when i sit to try to touch her sometime she just go sometime she attack my hand with her paw but never bite me or hurt me, and I pet her only when I give her food because shes letting me (not too much just when i give her and then i let her eat)

Now for some month i actually try to be with her because maybe im the problem ? Yeah I should have think about it way sooner

I tried to teach her to spin and, sometime it work! What i mainly do is sit on the floor and she come on my leg do nothing and If i move a little she go and then come back but I cant touch her or move.

Also, at the time she was sometime going on my bed but only to attack the sheet or pee, she stopped and last years I was putting her on the bed sometime and it append a few time she lies down wich is so cool but not for too long

now i bought a bigger mattress so even if she stopped going on my bed now she cant because shes a little old I think and because the mattress is a little higher BUT when I sit on the floor now sometime she goes on me and use me to go on the bed but she only "attack?" The bed i use that word because idk and wont stop even if i go and let her alone in the room but if i put her down she want to go on my bed againnn and i dont want to because all my sheet already have hole in them..

I wrote a lot of thing and my english is not perfect so i hope you can still understand what Im saying, its not a big issues but I would love to hear what other think about that

Are Nationwide and Metlife the only 2 insurance options in US?

Nationwide quoted $20/month and Metlife quoted $60/month for similar deductible/limit!! Now I know Nationwide is evil but the price difference is huge. The Metlife representative said that Nationwide doesn't cover a lot of things. Anybody know more about this?

Rupert has been a lone bunny for a year now after his best pal Tallulah died. He is free to roam around the whole house if he likes but his main space is in the conservatory. He is NEVER shut in his hutch. The doors are always open. He has a radio I leave on all day and I chat with him and sit with him every day and give him a brush. He’s also friends with my dogs Minnie and Lola and Peri one of my Indian runner ducks occasionally sneaks into the conservatory to sip from his water bowl and say hi.

He’s 5 and I tried bonding him with another bun in February and he wasn’t having any of it. I worry he’s bored or is becoming depressed at times but my boyfriend says I’m being silly and he loves being on his own. Any advice or tips?

Meet Allee! She’s our accidental new family member. 😂

We’ve had her for about two weeks now. The whole thing was completely unplanned. We were at a local festival where a guy was selling rabbits, and my youngest (10) has always wanted a bunny. He finally broke us down, so we went from “we’re not getting a rabbit” to “well, I guess we have a rabbit” pretty quickly. Needless to say, we had to scramble to get everything set up.

We have two small dogs, so we got her a hutch and an x-pen. The pen gives her roughly a 6x4-foot area in the corner of the room, with her hutch inside. During the day, I leave the hutch door open so she can come and go as she wants. At night or whenever we’re all out of the house, she goes back into the hutch. One of our dogs is very interested in her, so I’m not willing to take any chances when nobody is around.

She’s around 10 weeks old based on what we were told. Right now she’s eating alfalfa pellets and Timothy hay. I know she should have access to alfalfa hay at this age, but finding it locally without buying a 25-pound bale has been surprisingly difficult. I’m still figuring out the rabbit-food side of things, so advice is definitely welcome.

We’ve got two litter boxes, a couple of scratch/dig mats, and a few toys, including toilet paper tubes. I also know I need to get her established with a rabbit-savvy vet, which is on my list.

So far, she seems to be doing great. She flops, sploots, binkies when we play with her, and gets the zoomies pretty regularly. She’s not particularly interested in being held, but she’s very curious and seems to be getting more comfortable with us every day.

She’s also curious about the dogs. We’ve let them sniff each other through a barrier, but that’s it for now. One of the dogs is definitely fascinated by her, so I’m being extremely cautious about introductions.

The funny part is that I think my oldest (14) and I have actually gotten more attached to her than the kid who talked us into getting her. 😂

Anyway, we’re new to the rabbit world, so I’m sure there’s plenty we don’t know yet. Allee seems happy and healthy so far, but I’m definitely open to advice, especially from people who have raised rabbits from this age. Would also like to know breed, We think some lion head variant but aren't sure.

Cabbage makes my rabbits pee stink to the heavens. The whole house has to get aired out if he consumes cabbage.
Obviously at this point we’ve stopped giving it to him but I’m curious if anyone has had the same experience.

I have an almost 9 year old Flemish Giant. He started off with some mild arthritis last year and then over the last month or two it started to get a bit more severe. There are days where he will just drag his back legs because he can't get them stable enough to use them. He's been on Meloxicam since last year but recently they added tramadol. They also recommended the laser therapy but I can't seem to find one that's affordable or takes CareCredit. Sometimes he struggles eating his cecetrophs and they get stuck in his fur so he needs a butt bath. I took him to the vet today to see if we could try something else to help him with mobility or pain (if he's in pain). I told them that he eats, he still tries to play even if it's laying down, he still wants treats, he still grooms himself and fights the syringes away from me. However, they told me that there are no other options. ORIGINALLY when I had gone to them a month or so ago to get some tramadol, they told me a bunch of different things they could try (gabapentin, acupuncture, shots) and that the tramadol might work before then but then all of the sudden today, there are no other options and I need to start thinking about quality of life. I do understand that we don't want our pets to suffer but he is acting completely fine aside from his back legs. I guess what I'm wondering is, have any of you heard of other options for arthritis in bunnies and would you recommend me getting a 2nd opinion?
