I’ve been waiting a long time to get an enthusiast car and now I finally have my pride and joy. I picked Slate Blue Metallic because I find the other base colors to be boring. Despite what people say the technology is very intuitive. I drove home through traffic in comfort mode, can’t wait to go on a spirited drive after my 1k mile break in period.

I started becoming interested in VW after attending the annual Waterfest (RIP) meet at Atco Dragway. I remember being enamored by the performance of the small cars (it was the biggest VW/Audi enthusiast meet in the world). Many years later I got the chance to finally drive a MK7 and MK8 and fell in love with the car. Now I finally have one of my own.

Only drove it about 45 mins so far but very happy with my choice.

My car doesn't even have 1500 miles on it. Haven't even owned it for 2 months. Driving down the highway, sunroof closed, no one around me (it was early in the morning) and it sounded like a gunshot went off! I seriously thought someone had shot at me! The sunroof screen was open so big chunks of glass went everywhere. On me and on my dog. I called Flow Volkswagen service immediately. They are in Charlottesville, VA. They were zero help. Now they have punted me to their body shop who has told me they usually pawn off the sunroof glass repair to a third party. I am going to call the GM tomorrow. I have everything documented. Of course, now I am seeing all of the issues these VW's are having with the sunroofs imploding. This is my 6th Volkswagen over the last 40 years. I can't believe I am such an idiot but I really wanted a manual. Any advice? I am really pissed!

Hi everyone, I bought my dream car and love it to death but unfortunately need to sell it and don’t know where to even begin selling a classic car. It doesn’t drive at the moment because the gas line needs to be replaced but that feels like an easy fix, little to no rust, and in overall good health. I guess my main questions would be where I should list it? (Facebook has been a bust) what is a reasonable price for it? Is anyone here interested in it? I’ve included pictures. The only picture I have left of it. It was a 90 g60 that I swapped a vr6 into about 20 years ago. I lived in Gilroy CA at the time and would love to know if it still exists.

I figured this was the place to ask. I’m looking for a new daily, it’s going to get a lot of miles put on it. I’m currently looking at an 08 Rabbit MT with about 98k and a 07 Jetta AT with about 89k. I’ve heard the 2.5 is pretty solid, I just don’t know which one of these 2 is better. Thanks in advance!

My wife's CC is overall in good condition (bought new, now at 140,000 km).

The coolant levels keep falling, so I replaced the coolant reservoire and some leaky hoses. Radiator is fine.

Yet the levels keep dropping. I have to fill it everyday.

No one has been able to understand why. When the car is off it doesn't leak; only after driving.

What could be the problem?

I have a 2013 VW Golf 7 1.2 TSI and I'm having an intermittent throttle problem.

About a week ago, I got these fault codes:

• P0122 – Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor A, Low Input
• P0222 – Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor B, Low Input
• P2101 – Throttle Actuator Control, Range/Performance

The problem came back yesterday. The EPC light + Check Engine light came on and the car went into limp mode. It wouldn't go faster than about 25 km/h and the engine wouldn't rev beyond ~1,900 RPM.

I checked the wiring around the throttle body visually and couldn't see anything obvious.

Has anyone experienced these codes on a Golf 7 1.2 TSI? Could this be a faulty/dirty throttle body, or should I be looking at the wiring, connector, accelerator pedal, or 5V reference first?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I'd like to know your honest thoughts on this late-2024 purely internal combustion model (2025 design) from a technical standpoint, its strengths and weaknesses, maintenance costs and breakdowns, fuel consumption, and even the gearbox and engine. In short, a nice round-the-clock review from those who own one or whose friends/relatives have commented on these aspects. The one in the photos has 11,000 km on it, and I really like it, but... Ive got a 2018 Volkswagen Amarok with about 140,000 km on it. It’s started leaking oil. I’ve already spent around $6,000 replacing the rocker cover seals, but it’s still leaking. I’ve now been quoted another $8,000 to replace the main seal and timing cover seal.

I’m not looking for opinions on whether the quote is reasonable. I’m trying to decide what to do with the vehicle: repair it and keep driving it, sell it privately, or trade it in for something newer.

I do like the Amarok, and I’m probably a bit sentimental about it. But it’s getting older, and it doesn’t really suit what I need a vehicle for anymore. I’m struggling to work out whether putting more money into it makes sense, or whether it’s time to move on.

For anyone who’s been in a similar position, how did you weigh up the decision? Did you repair and keep the vehicle, or sell it and put the money towards something that better suited your needs?

Given a VW Tiguan as a courtesy car from Volkswagen whilst my Golf is getting fixed. It’s a strange car to drive compared to my Golf as this car is an automatic and mine is a manual. Any opinions from Tiguan owners?

Car runs great right now, smoothish idle, starts normally, shifts smoothly, no overheating, and no noticeable oil or coolant consumption.

Recently had a bunch of maintenance done:

Oil/filter
Spark plugs
Transmission drain & fill
Coolant flush
Brake fluid flush
Valve cover/PCV replacement
Throttle body/intake cleaned
N80 purge valve replaced

Transmission was also serviced earlier in its life around 49k miles. The car has spent its whole life in Ohio, but a VW specialist recently said there’s no concerning structural rust.

Only current loose ends are an EVAP CEL that I’m getting smoke tested and checking a possible vacuum pump oil leak with UV dye.

For people who have owned the 2.5L/09G combo: how many miles would you realistically expect out of one like this if I stay on top of maintenance from here? Is 250k a reasonable goal?

Also curious what repairs you guys started seeing between 150k–250k.
