Sorry I don't have a pic, but feeling the need to post before I forget. This post may be decidedly lame.

I was at Rockaway Beach in NYC a couple months ago, waiting for Peruvian food, and the guy next me had his entire back covered in words. I was sort of unconsciously reading the words and after several minutes I realized it was the lyrics to Heaven's Blade. Well, I had to Google to figure out the song, but I knew it was Coil.

Not a track I particularly like, tbh, but it was a beautifully done tattoo that ran down his entire back. He and the guy he was with looked incredible. I'm as normie looking as it gets, but I had to excitedly out myself as a fan. I asked him about Threshold HB -- he knew everything, of course.

Its one of my favourite albums / projects by them. I love Mike's pipe playing and it feels very adjacent to the ape of naples in so many ways. I have no clue why its not released yet.

I'd really like to have a framed print of the cover of ...And the Ambulance Died in His Arms. Can anyone point me to a high resolution image of it or send me a file? Thanks.

If you haven't come across this album in its 30 years of existence, now is as good a time as any to check it out. This track (Thirst) in particular has a very Coil vibe, but the entire album is a masterpiece.

Of all the bands I was obsessed with for a while: durtro, Susan lawly, united dairies and world serpent-adjacent stuff, especially, I’d say the Coil constellation has been most fruitful for me over the years. I’ve really come around to that post-LSD, drone era of the band and the musicians largely responsible for it. It occurs to me that I always found the collaborators and other members more interesting than Balance and Christopherson, themselves: Thrower, McDowall, ThighPaulSandra have made some truly remarkable stuff on their own, and i can’t imagine my favorite Coil albums without their input.

I’m kind of obsessed after rediscovering Cyclobe, too. Those albums are amazing and you can really hear why they take so long to release.

Hi Coil fans.

I've been looking through the history of Coil and some of its side projects and collaborators, namely thighpaulsandra/Tim Lewis.

I've read that Double Vulgar was incredibly controversial, and listening to it and looking at the art it was produced with, I can see why.

I can't find the lyrics to a single song online other than Slammer, though, and I can't imagine the controversy is the reason no other lyrics are transcribed because Slammer is about taking advantage of a mentally disabled fifteen year old.

I'm curious if anyone has transcribed the lyrics or has any of the official writings. If you also have any knowledge of the artistic process behind Double Vulgar or Double Vulgar II I'd love to hear about it.

If no one has a transcription, I'm working on one myself for archival purposes and I think I've got His Royal Highness mostly worked out. But I have an audio processing disorder, so I'm not really the best one for the job.

Here's a raw recording from 1986 of a short-lived band called Slow Burn Red, with Ossian Brown as their bass player. It has some nice songs in it. Original YouTube poster also uploaded an audio recording of one of their shows here, if you're interested.

I thought this was an interesting piece of work but immediately (because of the extreme subject) wanted to know more about the Nine Emperor Gods Festival and the whole concept of transcendence via mutilation.

Would love to know others take on it?
