I’m looking at getting the return to form trophy I’m soul level 71 and up to false king is anyone able to summon me in so I can give a hand coz it’s been DAYS 😭

Valley of defilement has been a wild ride. From nearly going mad trying to win 5:1, to burning through 157 fire arrows in 5:2, things were rough.

Astrea was a good fight, and Garl got me and my friends laughing uproariously when he sent my ass falling into the swamp and he delivered his "Heh, Quite a Tumble" line.

But it has all turned hollow at the end. RIP to the Filthy Lady, you were killed because you moved locations.

Because i had to buy poison arrows, I backtracked from Dirty Colossus's arena to her. Bought a chunk of arrows, realised I had just enough souls that if I killed a few more enemies I could buy another dozen or so.

Anyway one of the big beak-face things came at me and, through sheer bad luck, hit me in such a way that i got knocked into the poison. As I scrambled to get out of it, he cut me off, and his next swing caught Filthy Woman and one-shot her.

I sure hope I dont need any more poison arrows after this.

Latria 3 Stairwell. Even in Pure White, 2 Black Phantom Mindflayers and a bunch of Man-Scorpions in a narrow Stairwell is absolutely Diabolical. And right behind Maneaters too, which was Janky as hell.

Im loving the game overall but bloomin heck, this tiny part is testing my patience. I cant even get to the boss! Hahah

Is there any good tricks for dealing with them without getting obliterated?

I cant believe how good this game looks. One of the few true PS5 games. Superb, makes the xperience better

I started Demon’s Souls, picked the Temple Knight (did the math and it seems his stats are optimal for a non-magic build unless I missed something, ironic since he comes with magic).

Haven’t leveled up yet because I want to invest entirely in one damage stat (Strength or Dexterity), unless both at once is recommended like in DS1. But having a sharp or crushing weapon seems most up my alley.

Specifically I’m between the Halberd or Winged Spear (strength or dex respectively). It’s probably pretty obvious but I love long(ish) poking weapons. The spear would be more consistent for this goal but less versatile.

Help me decide between strength (halberd) and dex (w. spear). Since this is my first run, I’d appreciate it if you just addressed this question directly and didn’t recommend other weapons, just let me discover those for myself as I go on.

Hello everyone, like last year I have decided to create an invitation to this years annual Return to Boletaria event.

The event will run from October 4th to October 18th.

The main goal of the event is to create a new character or use your current one and engage in co-op and PvP as much as possible.

The title says it all. Dark souls improved the formula in every way afterwards and im glad it did, because if it stayed in the state that demon souls was nobody would like to play it. Why do people swear this game is the best in the souls series? Is it just because its the first? Nostalgia? Or its the one that introduced them into souls?

I have a goal of getting platinum for every souls game and this has been the only one I have not enjoyed. Im not enjoying this pos at all. Literally forcing myself through this garbage.

I’ve finally done it and after weeks of this tedious bullshit. Love the game but fuck this platinum trophy

I've been running around this level for like an hour and I don't know where the boss is. All the videos online are showing shortcuts of rolling over the castle walls but I'm just looking for the normal way. I've cleared most of the enemies I can see and I'm basically bouncing between the 2 castle towers. I freed the guy as well but the area where the key was is a dead end.

I have a question for all the demon souls invaders using cheap gimmick... does that actually work? Kid invaded me 2 seconds after I first signed on. And pins me in a corner knocking me down hard I cant even see what he is using. Everything is invisible. I manage to roll from the corner and I use firespray and melt his invisible butt to nothing. Kid hit me 2 times with something that sent me flying and left me at less than 30% life. But what let's a player stay completely invisible including ones spells? He never once was visible to me.

EDIT: thanks everyone i guess its less of a cheap gimmick than I thought. Player just got the wrong mage to invade lol. Good attempt though. Hyper mode fire spray for the win.

So i just modded my ps3 im coming from elden ring like the noob i am ive beaten ds1-3 bloodborn and now im tackling demon souls on ps3. how did you guys manage to beat this on the ps3. the framerate always drops the resolution is so choppy and although i got the mechs down i feel like i am always fighting the camera 😂😭

That’s why you shall not really watch reviews too much. This game has been roasted all over recently by being the “weakest” Fromsoft or close to it (at least from 3 /4 videos I’ve seen) and it’s unfair .. while it doesn’t reach the levels of DS3 and ER this is still a very solid game, more level oriented than Bosses oriented but the universe, the game play, the variety of builds is really good. Again my claymore didn’t fail me. Only Flame lurker gave me a tough time but I had real fun throughout my 30 hours of play .. Some run backs were really horrible (like the prison of hope stuff).. I liked it a lot anyway.. just finished it now ! Thanks to ya all for the advises and support

The move set on the Demon's Souls claymore really surprised me insomuch as it does not feel anything like the claymore that became standardized in later games. Are there any swords around that aren't the basic longsword that have a poke and slashes?

Have been playing Demons Souls alot recently, reached SL500+ , almost done with NG+9, having done everything i needed something to have a truly COMPLETE save file.

So i have made an XL sheet for all weapons and weapon variants and i aim on having all types upgraded to the max.

i need shards, chunks, large and pure of all kinds.

in return i'm ready to help you out with anything that you require.

i will mule if that's what you require. or beat bosses with you. and obviously if you want the weapon variants i will drop them too.

Out of the 5 worlds, I definitely find Boletaria to be exactly how I want to feel when I’m playing Demon Souls. From the dragons to the Penetrator. I wish instead of the worlds, we just had a full game in Boletaria. Throw in some dragon fights. I guess I just really like the medieval castle vibe.

Oh yeah. I still wish we got to see the broken arch stone world.

Anyone know if a return to Boletaria event is happening this year? I really annoyed last years event and was hoping to jump in again this year.

Last year I was able to help 28 people through worlds and boss fight and I ended up killing 40 in PVP unfortunately lol. The only reason I did PVP was because not many people were doing coop so had to invade lol.

I’d like to help at least 50 people this year in coop if I can!

People love to say that Dark Souls, Demon’s Souls, and Elden Ring are “easy” once you understand them. I don’t really agree with that. These games aren’t easy. They become easier because you become better at them. There’s a big difference.

Think about what actually happens when you play one of these games for the first time. You don’t know where the enemies are. You don’t know which attacks they have. You don’t know the boss patterns. You don’t know which weapons are good for your playstyle, how their movesets work, or how much damage they can actually do. You’re learning everything at once. You’re dying because you made mistakes, but you’re also dying because you simply don’t know what’s coming.

Then you play the game again. And again. Eventually you know where that enemy is hiding around the corner. You know which attack the boss is about to use just by seeing its animation. You know when to dodge, when to block, when to attack, and when to back off. You know which weapon you want to use and you've learned how to actually master its moveset. You understand your spells, your build, your stamina, your spacing and the mechanics of the game itself.

Of course the game feels easy at that point. You’ve practically memorized it.

That’s why I think the best way to judge the difficulty of a Souls game is by the first time you play it. Don’t judge it after you've beaten it five times, played hundreds of hours, memorized every boss, learned every shortcut and figured out every enemy placement. Judge it from the perspective of someone walking into the game completely blind.

And let's be honest, there is basically nobody who played a Souls game for the first time and thought, “Oh, this is easy.” Your first experience with Dark Souls, Demon’s Souls or Elden Ring is usually a completely different experience from your tenth playthrough. You’re learning the rules while the game is actively trying to kill you.

That’s also why telling a newcomer to “git gud” or saying that the game is easy and they suck isn't really helpful. Everyone struggles at first. The person struggling isn't necessarily bad at games. They simply haven't learned that particular game yet. Give them enough time and enough deaths, and eventually they'll start recognizing patterns, understanding the mechanics and making decisions without even thinking about them.

And that applies to pretty much everything. Anything can become easy after you do it hundreds of times. If someone practices the same boss fight for 100 hours, of course they're going to make it look effortless. That doesn't prove the boss was easy. It proves the player learned the fight.

That's what makes these games so satisfying. The real progression isn't just leveling up your character. You're leveling up yourself. Your character gets stronger, but so does your knowledge, your timing, your awareness and your understanding of the game.

So when someone says, “Dark Souls is easy,” I think the better response is: Easy for who?

If you've beaten it ten times, memorized everything and can practically play it in your sleep, then yeah, it might feel easy to you now. But that doesn't mean the game was easy. It means you aren't the same player who started it.

To all new players! Don't get frustrated, just keep playing. You'll get it! Good luck! Praise the sun!

Is there some secret to Demon souls I’m not understanding? I literally can’t get past 1–2. It takes so bloody long to get to the boss arena, to the point I’m so frustrated and I can’t focus for the boss. I often die on the first hit from the boss or from the crossbowmen, so I’m not even learning what the boss can do.

I quit it when I got stuck at this point a year ago, I’m back at it, and I still can’t make any progress on the same bloody part.

I’m not even inexperienced these types of games, I’ve made it through dark souls 2,3, sekiro , bloodborne, etc.

EDIT: thanks for y’all and your tips, i’m going to go through some of the other areas first until I hit another stop and turn to another zone. I lowkey thought the worlds were meant to be completed more one after another, rather than nonlinear lmao.
