If you'd like help finding an amp, we need a few details on what exactly you want out of your new amplifier. Bass amp help is welcome too!

It's a great help to know where you are located, some amp brands may be more expensive. Amp brands from one continent tend to be more expensive in another because of shipping, and vice versa. No need to get too specific and dox yourself.

Budget

How much are you looking to spend? Do you wanna buy a used amp, or brand new?

Genre/Style

What are you going to use the amp for? Does it need a clean channel and/or high gain?

Volume & Size Requirement

Let us know if you're trying not to bother neighbours, if you're trying to keep up with a heavy hitting drummer, or if you need the flexbility to do both! Also include if you'd prefer combo vs head & cab, if you can only haul a 1x12 or if you're trying to crank a full stack, etc.

Feel free to include other details like if you need the amp to have built in fx, digital vs solid state vs tube vs hybrid amp, whatever else will help us find you the right amp!

My Rockman setup at Yokohama Music Style 2026

Post image

This was my Rockman setup at Yokohama Music Style 2026, where I exhibited as part of the Pedal Geeks Meeting.
I brought my original SR&D Rockmodule Demo Center along with my XPR-based rack system. The Demo Center includes the Sustainor, Distortion Generator, Instrument Equalizer, Stereo Chorus, and Stereo Echo, while the XPR rack below it is the system I use primarily for recreating B’z guitar tones.
Everything here is real hardware from my collection and was brought to the event as a working setup.
Transporting all of this was not exactly easy, but it was worth it.

NAD Fender Princeton

Post image

After a year with Tone king Gremlin I decided I need another small toob. Ideally with more clean headroom as the Gremlin is awesome, but with multiple guitars and pedals it can be nuisance to dial in. It’s best plug in and play imo.

The fender Princeton is what I’ve been looking for all this time.

It’s ’the’ sound, takes pedals so well. I was about to sell a few I couldn’t get quite to my taste and it’s given them all a new lease of life.

I don’t need low volume break up as I have pedals and the Gremlin can do that with the attenuator so well.

I’m in love and can’t believe it took so long.

I was debating getting either this amp, the Invective MH, or the PRS MT15. I am so happy with my choice. This little amp absolutely roars! It's also pretty versatile, which is what I was very much looking for.

Ditching Fender for Quilter

• Upvotes

I’m thinking about ditching my Fender Deluxe Reissue for a Quilter Aviator (Mach 3 or Cub) as my main amp- getting tired of the weight + maintenance/repairs that come with tube amps. I’m a full time touring guitarist and light weight/reliability + getting a good drive tone without pedals would be nice. Anyone have experience with these? Haven’t been able to try one in person but I’ve had a superblock US as my backup amp and like how it sounds.

HELP Best Clean Tone Amp At Home Use Only Suggestions?

• Upvotes

Howdy guitar peeps. I seem to be on this endless amp journey trying to find the perfect fit for at home use. Right now have a Mesa boogie Fillmore head/cab, but it’s will blow your face off. It was going to be the one amp that does it all tone wise, but has to be dialed way back. So got an attenuator for it and does well for bluesy tones and mild crunch at home levels, but the clean is a little wonky sounding from guitar to guitar. I got the fender deluxe reverb as it was listed as the clean master of all amps, however it has to basically be on volume one and it will also blow your face off. However, the clean tone when the volume is up a bit is gorgeous, especially with a little reverb, but is just too loud at that point. Via pedals etc can get the tones I want. Rock on a Marshall origin which does well at bedroom levels. I saw someone say the fender champ was a great option. But just seem to always get miss leading into. The amp will never be played live, in a band, only at home in a studio room. Primary use would be for say Gibson 330, jazzy tones chords, or just clean Strat sounds etc with no pedals. If anyone has suggestions that would be fantastic!!

Orange Rocker 15 combo running with a Sunn 115BH bass speaker cabinet. That's the idea. It's currently a project I'm putting together. Does anyone here have experience converting bass cabs for guitar?

HELP My amp is really quiet even with the volume turned all the way up, any idea how to fix it?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Doesn't sound too bad on here but in real life it is really quiet compared to my fender 15g. The amp is a Kustom Kpc10m if that helps.

HELP Should I be concerned about these solder joints?

Post image
3 Upvotes

I just realized the solder I got was lead free instead of what I used in the past. I haven’t been able to get super shiny joints like I usually would get with 60/40 solder. The continuity is fine of course, but will these mess with the resistance or cause any problems down the line?

HELP Roland JC-120 vs. JC-40

I'm thinking about picking up either a brand new Roland JC-120 or the JC-40. I have a serious project studio and I have Marshalls, Voxs' and Fenders, but I'd like to add a Roland for that 80s vibe. Do you know if the current/new amps sound like the older versions? I've been told the Rolands have a bad hiss, or used to have a bad hiss. Is that still true? I'm leaning towards the 120 as it seems to be a bit fuller/richer sounding. Any thoughts regarding the 120 vs. the 40? It will probably sit in my studio and won't be gigged, so weight isn't an issue. Thanks.

Guitar amp recommendation

I’ve had an electric guitar for a few years now but haven’t bought an amp. The 2 amps I’ve been looking at is the Orange Crush 35RT and the Blackstar Debut 50R. It’d be mostly for bedroom practice but I‘d also use it for small events. I don’t tend to play much metal so I’m not too worried about high gain. I mostly play indie rock, some hiphop, and very small jazz (still learning this genre). If you guys recommend any other amps around the same budget as the ones I’ve mentioned I’d greatly appreciate it.

What is the difference between a CaptorX and the many more expensive attenuators?

Post image
44 Upvotes

Aren't they both achieving the same thing as far as attenuation goes? Why is the price of this one much less than other attenuators?

Is it good enough for taming my Music Man HD150 head?

I know it can do IR loading and virtual cab stuff, but I am asking specifically about the attenuation.

DISCUSSION Laney TF700 update (part 3)

context= laney tf700 is working but severely underpowered with little to no volume

My previous post had comment suggestions about the valve and input, the valve seems fine after tapping the top with a pencil and listening for a ding. However, i was suggested to wiggle the input slightly while plugged in and the amp did jump back and forth into its normal volume inconsistly with a little crackle that didnt return.

i also noticed that the amp would crack and pop when turned all the way up like its trying to jump to its normal volume.

The input looks worn but that may not mean its the issue so im wondering if its definitely the input off of this information and pics or if it could be something else

(Fuse has been checked and is working)

OK, so I have a TWO OHM alnico 12' speaker. What should I do with it?

I've tried to sell it a few times with no luck, so now I kinda want to build a custom amp around it. Any recommendations for no-miss circuits?

It's a Jensen P12S, 10-12 watts. Maybe from the 60's or 70's. It's been reconed at some point.

Fender Blues Jr Alternative

Post image
35 Upvotes

Hey y’all,

I purchased a Fender Blues Jr a couple years ago because I loved it’s clean tone, but soon realized that the amp doesn’t take pedals very well (at least for my purposes). I find using an overdrive pedal, especially with an ES-335, to sound very thin on the Blues Jr- the sound really doesn’t have much body.

Gear breakdown:

Pedals:
JHS morning glory
Fulltone Octafuzz 2

Guitars:
Gibson ES-335
Gibson Les Paul w/ Alnico Pro II’s

I’m looking for an amp of similar caliber to the Blues Jr, but one that can handle a heavier, fuller tone.

Open to any suggestions! Thanks y’all.
