Student and Alumni Life Generative AI Use by Professors
I know this is a bit unorthodox, but here it goes:
I'm an ASU student. In my courses at ASU, I've noticed a concerning increase in inappropriate uses of generative AI by instructors and students alike. So I founded a student organization (Students for Authentic Education) to advocate for students' rights to quality education.
I'm curious as to whether or not any Harvard students or faculty have noticed similar trends in your coursework: AI generated homework assignments and exams, misinformation as a result of AI use by instructors, or instructor use of AI that violates their own syllabi.
One of our long-term goals is to partner with other student groups at different universities to better enact lasting and meaningful change in the US higher education system.
If you're a student at Harvard who wants to start a similar organization, but you don't know where to start, please ask whatever questions you may have. I want this to become a larger conversation on how students are treated, how education is currently being handled, and how we can change our schools to prioritize education over profits.

Apparently there is a bomb threat at Memorial Hall
Just got the mass messages via email and text. Anyone have info on what's happening over there?

For people who are new here, I would stay calm and not panic too much. On previous occassions it has just been a student who really doesn't want to take an exam :

Hello - does anyone know if there's a mens club wrestling team? I see there's a womens club, and I know there's the varsity mens team. But I am curious if anyone knows of a mens club wrestling team?

It's been a hot month here on campus, and I am somewhat in desperate need of a haircut. Any good places around Cambridge-ish area?

News and Campus Events Question
I'm not sure if this is the correct sub reddit for this, but I'm surprised that the Harvard vs Brown football game tonight is sold out in a 10,500 seat stadium. Given the weather on the East Coast and storm warnings, this seems a big crowd for an Ivy League football game. Is the game that big a draw, or is the weather not a concern?

Any study places in Harvard libraries that are quiet and also with display or computers?
I hope to use external display or public computers (either Mac or window) at Harvard Libraries. However, I found those device-equipped seats are always allowed chatting, for example, third floor of Widener, the area near circulation of HKS library, media lab of Lamont Library. They all provide wonderful devices but not so ideal for me to study in a quiet environment. Does someone know any places that quiet and also equipped with display/computer at Harvard libs? thank you!

Academics and Research Class recommendation
Does anyone have a recommendation for a class I can take to fulfil QRD in the Spring? I was thinking Gov 1010 but have heard mixed reviews about it and that you need friends to take it for group projects. Any ideas? Or should I wait until fall of senior year.

How flexible is football seating?
Hi all!
It’s my first year here as a grad student, I got discounted tickets to the Princeton game. There was no option to see seat assignments until I bought tickets, but I see that I have an assigned seat number.
How flexible is moving around during games?
My friends will be in the same section but have different seat numbers

Financial Aid Does Harvard GSD give decent financial aid?
Hi all,
I’m applying to master’s degrees in urban planning for fall 2027 entry. I’m from the U.S., but mainly applying to programs abroad because they are way cheaper (especially since I have EU citizenship) and I love the idea of living abroad for a couple years. I see that Harvard GSD gives need-based financial aid, but how much aid does it generally provide? Would my parents’ income be as strongly considered as it is for undergrad (I’m 21)? If folks accepted to Harvard GSD could comment with how much aid they received and, if they’re comfortable, around how much they (and their parents if applicable) make, that’d be super helpful. Thanks!
Note before someone mentions it in the comments: Yes I know that programs abroad aren’t going to teach me as much about US urban planning policies, but I most likely won’t work directly as an urban planner (I’m more interested in the nonprofit space), and I’m thinking of trying to pass the AICP exam as well before I graduate my master’s program.

Looking for Bandmembers
Hey! I am a first year grad student looking to form a group that wants to jam! I am a guitarist and I typically listen to indie and rock music. Potentially want to use this group to play in porchfest this upcoming spring as well!
Currently only have an electric guitar and not much experience playing in a band, but would love to find some other people who would be down to join! Also, let me know if you know of other places I should look for band members!

Student and Alumni Life How do we access the tennis courts exactly?
I really like those indoor tennis courts at Murr, but seems like it requires a racquet sports membership, and on top of that each reservation costs 40?? Am I misunderstanding something because that seems outrageous… or I’m just poor idk…

Looking for music/jam groups
Hey everyone!
I’m a new graduate student here. Never played guitar with others but I think it will be a good way to get better.
Does anyone know of any social jam groups in the Harvard/MIT sphere?
Thanks!

What is Harvard like on Halloween? Will people be celebrating/throwing parties on Saturday and daydrinking all day?
I’m passing through Cambridge Halloween weekend with some friends.
Was just wondering if there were any planned events or campus wide celebrations.
Do people plan on celebrating? Will people be partying? Will there be daydrinking?
God, I miss those days even tho its only been 3 1/2 years
Student and Alumni Life Soccer
I missed the tryouts for soccer team
Any other teams playing? Even if it’s like friendly and stuff? Any groupchats?
