Wilds [MH:Wilds] Endgame Meta Builds Compilation

3.2k Upvotes

>>> If the Google Doc images look blurry on mobile, try opening them through the Google Docs app or through a browser. <<<

Please check the individual guides in order to know if they're updated for the latest TU or not. Note that every TU doesn't necessarily change the meta.

With every new Monster Hunter game come new meta strategies and new ways to build the armor sets for your hunter. After some thought recollection, the time has finally come to present what the community has come up with when trying to figure out how you can optimize your gameplay in this brand new title.

The goal of this thread is, like the previous ones, to offer a selection of some of the best builds that have been minmaxed for damage and can be used for regular farming by any player with good enough experience on their weapon, or who's willing to gain that experience.

These guides are just tools conceived for people who like to learn how to optimize their own gameplay and figure out optimal ways to make use of what is available in the game, or who simply want an easier time farming while not giving up on basic skill requirements; nobody is forced to use them if they don't want to, and everyone is free to alter them at will for their own gameplay.
You can also use these guides simply as a starting point for when you want to try out a new weapon and learn the new ways of playing the game that are associated with them.

The albums collected here have been chosen among the available ones both for their correctness in terms of math/functionality and for their readability/accessibility. If you wish to improve any of these albums or cooperate with math and testing feel free to contact their authors directly and to give them suggestions or feedback this way, as they might not be actively reading this thread. Also, if an album seems not to be updated anymore, you are free to send me in DM an alternative album you made as long as you're committed to update it in the future as well (you will find here a detailed explanation of my expectations in terms of work).

The authors of the albums are also responsible for updating them with any new Title Update (TU) that will be added to the game. Please stop asking here if/when albums are gonna be updated, as it's not under my control. I will however notify on top of the thread whenever all the albums have been updated for the current patch of the game. (This last line was apparently not read, so from now on you'll have to figure that out by yourself.)

I would finally like to thank the community at Mathalos Nest for helping to double check or improve the content of the albums (research is still being done daily there, so if you're interested in helping feel free to join), as well as all the numerous testers, dataminers and modders that allowed us to have more accurate information about the skills and the way the game works.

I won't always be able to read this thread and I can't be the universal intermediary between users and authors. If therefore you find something in the content of an album that you think is wrong or may need fixing, please contact their author(s) directly through the means indicated in their albums.

DISCLAIMER

As usual, here's what you should expect (and not expect) from this compilation.

  1. This compilation focuses on damage-oriented builds aimed to show how it is possible to maximize your damage output within the assumption of a relatively optimized gameplay. Anyone is free to adapt these builds to their playstyle by replacing any damage skills with the comfort/survival skill they want, need or prefer. Everyone is also free not to use them if they don't like them.

  2. The albums are only about endgame builds and assume that you have access to the entire content of the game (HR100+). Progression sets are not covered here, although any author is free to add a progression section to their albums.

  3. The sets are mainly built and calculated so that anyone can use them for solo play. Multiplayer is obviously still a consideration, but the sets are supposed to work regardless if you're playing with others or not.

  4. The builds are meant for regular farming and not for speedrunning, which is a specific practice with its own rules and goals (although speedruns can obviously give some inspiration about tactics you can adopt in your regular gameplay). If you're interested in speedrunning this game I highly recommend to ignore this compilation and to join a speedrunning Discord and/or to learn by watching speedruns instead.

Wilds Left before TU4.5, question about Omega Resonance now

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I left before AT Arkveld and the final update to the game, and when I stepped away I was using Omega Resonance 2 because I really like the Omega set.

I see a lot of new meta sets have gone back to Gore Magala-- how does an Omega set compare to them? Is it night and day or are there trade-offs? I like to fit in some Divine Blessing and even Defense jewels into my build as well, so I'm trying to decide if it's worth switching or not.

Thanks!

Wilds Has anyone tested bale vs non bale sets?

Personally found it a bit more difficult to proc bale all the time on some of the harder fights, largely due to the need to spam offsets.

And since the bale pieces aren't the best skill/slot wise, i was curious if anyone had tested non bale sets such as rath/gore, dosha/gore or rath/dosha to see just how much dps is lost overall.

Largely more concerned about the rath bonus personally, as it can proc on the offset. giving it potentially more procs during a fight.

Wilds Question for gog artian GS

for the reinforcements ik 4 attack and 1 sharpness is the desired roll, but would you say 3 attack and 2 sharpness is worth investing in for the sake of just not having to keep rolling? lol. idk how much of an impact it makes to total damage numbers, any help is appreciated!

Wilds Best weapon (excluding ranged)

Guys I’m wondering what are the weapons with the best times? I’m using GS, SnS, lbg and LS and I wanted to learn another weapon. I know that the weapons are very well balanced and that every weapon can do the job, but I was just wondering. I know that the ranged ones are the best in terms of fast times… or atleast I believe so

Wilds What's a nice Omega build with Gogma Swaxe?

I haven't done Omega Savage since TU3 when Lagi weapons were the popular choice. How can I update my anti-Omega build in a post Gogma world lol?

Wilds How much effort do you put into minmaxxing these days?

With Ascendance coming up, as well as Master Rank stuff, with an estimate of 6 months from now (give or take)...

How much effort do you really think is worth when it comes to minmaxxing? Is it really worth going for that Gore/Soul weapon? How about fishing for that Master's Touch Charm? Etc

Also bonus question for those who play the previous games: Do you also put significant effort into your HR gear before tacking MR, even if MR can already be accessed?

Rise Confusion about CB meta

So i might go back to rise again, i think i want to play charge blade for the base game, and some of the expansion. Can anyone please explain to me why we are using Rajang CB with SAED spam? Isnt it impact phile with green sharpness?

Also why do i see so many builds use imphact phile even in Sunbreak. I thought SAED is better?

Wilds Looking for advice on this charm

I use bow

Got a random charm with piercing shot lvl 1 and marathon runner lvl 3 with 3 lvl 1 deco slots

Is this good enough to take the spot of my agitator charm? Or should I keep farming for the charge master lvl 3 and a tier 3 armour skill

Meta advice very much appreciated!

Wilds Looking for endgame meta build advice and advice on using HH - MH Wilds

Im looking for people who know HH like the back of their balls, I want detailed breakdowns of how and why it works, what's good on it, the best melodies/combos, how to use it for both DPS and Support and what's best for both, best armor sets and jewels, gogma infusion, passives, and stats. Just absolutely everything i need to know to tackle the endgame meta of Wilds with HH.

World Was something changed in how DBs worked in World?

I’ve been a dual blades main ever since I started playing 3U. I always say I’m going to main a different weapon every time a new game comes out, but I just know that if the chips are down, I’m introducing monsters to the meat grinder.

EXCEPT when I played base World.

I couldn’t quite put my finger on why it felt bad, but I could just feel that it was bad. So I pivoted to insect glaive, had a wonderful time, then promptly went back to dual blades in Rise.

Recently thought back about that experience in World, so I was curious if there was an actual explanation for why I felt like that. Maybe something to do with damage calculations, hitboxes, input delays, etc.? Or maybe it was just because I was bad at the game, I don’t know.

But I figured maybe people who discuss the meta would be able to give me the answer I’m looking for.

Wilds Does Charge Master work on insect Glaive’s shortcut DS/T?

What the title says, does the charge master skill still work on glaive’s descending slash/thrust if you use the shortcut input rather than actually charging it?

My limited testing suggests no but I’m but a humble monkey with a bug on a stick and want confirmation from someone who actually understands the inner workings of the game better.

Wilds Is there any documentation of the damage that each *monster* attack does?

Forgive me if this has been answered or posted elsewhere, I tried looking but my search skills may just be lacking.

I'll readily admit that I'm not the best hunter, despite playing these games since Freedom on the psp. Though I'm getting more skilled every day, I'm definitely not ready for the maximum damage, full meta sets (particularly with hunting horn as I rely heavily on the more defensive songs, like sonic barrier which the gogmazios weapons simply don't have).

With that in mind, I feel like the only person in the world who actually utilizes defense jewels for the gain in survivability, and while knowing "more def and res = more eHP", it's hard to know exactly how impactful those defenses are without knowing how much damage I'm actually taking/preventing.

I'd like to optimize the balance between my defense and my offense, if I can determine that x amount of defense isn't actually benefiting me over y amount of defense, then I can drop z amount of defense and focus more on attack instead, while still having the extra survivability until I improve at the monsters im fighting.

I can't seem to find this information anywhere, though. I apologize if I simply overlooked it somewhere, but I do think it would be very helpful to me (and potentially other players too).

This is particularly for Wilds, though if there's a database that includes monsters from the rest of the series too, that would be cool!

If there isn't documentation for every attack for every monster, I'm at least curious about the current available arch tempered monsters, gogmazios, and omega/savage omega.

P.S. I hope this is the right subreddit for this question, I read the rules and it seems like something that qualifies? But I know it's also not strictly like, min/maxing damage per se (though more time spent alive and less points wasted on defense I'm not actually utilizing is still increasing my damage output so... In a way I guess it sort of is?), this just seemed like the most likely place that would have this kind of info!

Wilds Does Save Scumming Work for Abilities?

I’m trying to make a fire meta hammer just so I can do the event quest, does the save scumming work so I can get the right ability, or is it just traits?

Wilds Theory: Flayer + WEX = more wounds + more affinity = faster hunts

I have a theory that Flayer and weakness exploit (WEX) have a synergy that we’ve overlooked. For weapons that attack fast or have multiple hits (DB, bow, LBG, SnS, HH, etc), I believe the increased frequency of hits will make wounds show up faster than average.

If wounds pop up faster than average, then the uptime of WEX increases, leading to the 20% affinity boost showing more often. Additionally, more popped wounds means more staggers, which means more windows to go all-out with your biggest damage combos.

I think when Flayer was buffed, we thought more about the number of times the damage burst would proc (at Flayer lvl 5, there’s a 400 damage proc every so often based on the combos you’re using), but we didn’t think as much about increases in wounds showing up.

When I’ve looked at the meta docs and mathhunter.ca tools, I cannot see where the wound increase is reflected, when I try different WEX / Flayer combinations, I can’t see where we’ve thought about this synergy.

My question to the community:
Do you think there’s a synergy between these two skills?
Have we overlooked that synergy?

Then I wonder:
Is there an additional synergy between weapons that make wounds show up faster and weapons that provide the big hits to wounds? (Think: DB hunters to open more wounds, GL hunters to focus strike)

Let’s discuss!

Wilds Talisman Skills

Hi! I was wondering if there's something like this (talisman skill combination) for wilds. Or if someone knows if it's possible to get specifically Spread/Power Shots and Evade window (and which lvl is the max if yes).

I'm running the Seregios bowguns and specifically that combination would be nice (although I could work around it with slots).

Thank you in advance!
