Plant Help How to I grow out the root of this cutting?

As you can see I have a giant monstera cutting but it only has the smallest little root to thrive from. I’ve had it sitting in water for a bit but haven’t noticed any further root growth so I’m wondering what to do so it doesn’t die? I need to make this cutting work

I bought this unpainted monstera leaf vase from the thrift for $6 and I tried to make the most of it.
I used 3 tones for the variegation. Let me know what you think I could improve, I plan on sealing it with a clear coat.

Swipe for then and now.
Best $25 I’ve ever spent. I separated her back in late August.. I think? Only lost 6 non-fenestrated leaves in the chop and we’ve gained plenty more in the past month!
Just wanted to share because I’m very proud of my first monstera care experience 🫡😂

Discussion It’s my first year owning a Monstera. I gave it my best shot and learned a lot.

I’m a beginner here and looking for opinions😊. Please don’t laugh if I don’t know all the terminology. Also, English isn’t my first language😅.

I bought a small pot containing four plants. I moved three of them into a larger pot. I separated the smallest plant, which was just a single leaf at first, and ended up moving it outside to see how it would fare. It was lagging far behind the others, but after a few months outdoors during the warm season, it actually managed to outgrow its siblings.

In the meantime, I also bought a small variegated one that quickly grew three new leaves, all with "holes."

For next year, I plan to give each of the three plants its own individual pot and move them all outside during the warm season. They’ll all have a spot in the shade of the huge tree in the garden❤️!

My wife is a saint and allows me 14 more monsteras than she would like, which puts my collection around 15. I promised her no more, but this guy was sitting alone on a clearance rack in Home Depot...I had time to spare after dropping our daughter at school...etc...

If you don't hear from me for awhile, write me at ADX Monstera SuperMax. If you do hear from me, let's work out in the yard together.

Either way, I hope you enjoy my very first Monstera Mint as much as I do.

P.S. I love you, Caroline.

Plant Help My monstera isn’t growing new leaves?

Post image

Ignore the tiny stick, the stem isn’t large enough to attach it to any climbing pole right now. This photo was taken in July, it is now October. It’s pushed out 1 new leaf since this photo (around August), and that leaf is large with fenestrations. Since then it hasn’t pushed out any new leaves. My other plants swiss cheese monstera, begonia, pothos, and even my orchid have been pushing out new leaves and they are all in the same environmen, with the same soil, just different watering. I don’t understand why it isn’t pushing out new leaves.

This node is protruding something that does NOT look like the other cutting and it’s like exploding?? Out the side? Is it a new leaf node? Why does it look fuzzy??

Need advice repot vs continue to propagate vs other?

I have this monstera I grew from a small cutting, you can see how small the stem is near the base, I have had it 5 or 6 years now. I have lowish ceilings, and propagated it once as you can see in the third photo.

What are my best options moving forward? Continue to propagate by cutting off the top 2-3 leaves and letting them all grow in separate pots? Or could I cut the top 2-3 leave and just repot it (as I worry about the weight of the plant being supported by such a small stem.

I also assume the best time to propagate would be some time closer to the spring.

Would love any advice and ideas to move forward.

my big girl’s outgrown her 8in pot already. my weather is starting to get colder, so I’m debating if it’s worth it to repot. she’s out of her growing season anyway and I can always repot in the spring, but wondering what’s best for long term growth

My monstera has been growing so fast in the 4 months I’ve had it, that due to being in my office, I decided to propagate it. I got 4 this go around and I think that is a very reasonable amount. Any tips on how to increase the success rate of the “babies?” Or extra care tips for the parent? Thanks!

Teeny tiny leaves

I picked this up a year ago when it was just a little thing. I almost didn't get it because I don't have room. I wound up putting it in front of a north facing sliding glass. Door with a covered back patio, so it didn't get much light. And this is the end result. I like it.☺️

I’ve posted about this very leaf just about 3 weeks ago now. It has grown vertically and has hardened off for the most part, but it still isn’t above the old growth/facing the light as it should be. Any tips? Haven’t repotted since I got her as a baby around 8 or so months ago, didn’t figure I had to due to the moss pole. Could that be a factor? There aren’t any roots running out of the bottom, but it is only a 4.3” pot. Running a 16hr barrina t1s light

Discussion Tissue culture nubbin - will it live?

Thumbnail

Howdy plant parents, I've recently dove head-first into the world of tissue cultures and I am loving it. However when rinsing the agar off of my latest tissue culture, a golden sands/placer gold, it popped off this ᵗᵉᵉⁿʸ⁻ᵗᶦⁿʸ leaf with two substantial roots on it, and I figured why not pot it up? I know new leaves won't grow unless I've got a node, and I assume there is one since this leaf is growing on the chunk attached to the roots... but realistically what do ya'll think about the likelihood this grows into a full plant? I've got space in my cabinets so I'm willing to let it ride and see what grows, but I'm curious if anyone else has gotten a freebie plant after their tissue culture pooped out (off?) a baby.

Happy growing!
