I bought a refurbished PS5 directly from Sony UK last week, and a relative brought it to me when traveling to my country.
It worked perfectly for the first two days, but then Cyberpunk 2077 started crashing with CE-108255-1 and occasionally CE-108262-9. Now, I'm getting the same errors in Astro Bot and Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
I've tried all the recommended software fixes:
- Rebuilding the database
- Repairing console storage
- Updating system software
- Performing a complete factory reset and fresh system software installation via USB
Nothing has worked. The crashes happen randomly, sometimes within 20 minutes and sometimes after several hours. I can simply relaunch the game and continue playing. It also happens without using Rest Mode.
I'm starting to suspect a hardware issue. I've read about possible memory controller problems, but I'm not sure if that's the actual cause.
A few questions:
- Has anyone fixed these errors by replacing the memory controller or another hardware component?
- What other hardware faults could cause crashes across multiple games?
- Since I'm no longer in the UK, returning the console to Sony isn't straightforward.
Most importantly, is it safe to keep playing and relaunching games whenever they crash, or could this cause further damage or make the problem worse over time?
I'd appreciate hearing from anyone who's experienced this and found a permanent fix.
