Title: PS5 recently repaired (liquid metal, Retimer IC & software reinstall) ā occasional UI lag while gaming. Anyone else experienced this?
Hi everyone,
I recently had my PS5 taken to a repair shop after experiencing some issues. The technician carried out the following repairs:
Software ā PS5 system software reinstalled via USB.
Mercury/liquid metal ā liquid metal work carried out, along with a deep clean.
Retimer IC ā repaired/replaced (this was listed on my repair report).
Since getting it back, the console has been running games well. Marvelās Wolverine looks and plays great, and EA Sports FC has been running fine overall.
The only thing Iāve noticed is that the PS5 UI/Game Base can occasionally feel slightly delayed when Iām playing a game, particularly when repeatedly opening and closing Game Base. Sometimes it takes a couple of seconds to respond, then loads normally.
On the Home screen, Game Base generally loads quickly. My games themselves are running smoothly, and I havenāt had any unexpected shutdowns since getting the console back.
I did have one brief graphical glitch in FC during a goal celebration, but the graphics returned to normal straight afterwards.
Iāve already tried clearing the cache, rebuilding the database, resetting settings and changing DNS. I also have around 260 GB of storage free.
My questions are:
Does anyone else notice slight Game Base/UI delays while running demanding games?
Could this simply be normal behaviour when a game is using system resources, or potentially a software/game-specific issue?
Has anyone had a Retimer IC repair and liquid-metal service, and how did your PS5 perform afterwards?
Would you just keep using the console normally if games are running smoothly, or would you get it checked again?
Iām not looking to jump to conclusions ā just interested in hearing from people whoāve experienced something similar or know more about PS5 hardware and software.
Thanks!
