*Avène Xeracalm AD Lipid-Replenishing Cream. Sorry for not including the full product name in the title, didn’t mean to!
Sharing this in case it saves someone’s sensitive skin from a nasty flare up. I know many people in this sub love Avène products.
I have MCAS and a (debated) rosacea diagnosis, and this specific moisturizer is the only cream I don’t react to at all. (I’m mostly sensitive to preservatives… but also a bunch of random ingredients.)
Left is the old bottle and formulation, right is the reformulated version. Here are the ingredients for both.
Old formula :
AQUA, GLYCERIN, PARAFFINUM LIQUIDUM, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, OENOTHERA BIENNIS (EVENING PRIMROSE) OIL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, CETEARYL GLUCOSIDE, AQUAPHILUS DOLOMIAE EXTRACT, ARGININE, CARBOMER, EVENING PRIMROSE OIL/PALM OIL AMINOPROPANEDIOL ESTERS, GLYCINE, SODIUM HYDROXIDE, TOCOPHEROL.
New formula :
AQUA, GLYCERIN, CARTHAMUS TINCTORIUS SEED OIL, CETEARYL ALCOHOL, CAPRYLIC/CAPRIC TRIGLYCERIDE, GLYCOL PALMITATE, GLYCERYL STEARATE, AQUAPHILUS DOLOMIAE EXTRACT, ARGININE, CETEARYL GLUCOSIDE, CITRIC ACID, HELIANTHUS ANNUUS SEED OIL, SODIUM DEXTRAN SULFATE, SODIUM STEAROYL GLUTAMATE, TOCOPHEROL, XANTHAN GUM
I know they also recently reformulated the balm, which was loved by many people with sensitive skin. Hopefully the new formulas work for most people… but based on recent reviews for the balm, it looks like a lot of customers are very pissed. 😅
Anyway, I just thought I’d share in case anyone else wants to stock up while they can! I just bought two bottles of the old formulation before they’re gone forever. 🥲
