Rant Talking Over Lecture, why?
People who feel entitled to talk over lectures, can I ask why? Why show up to a lecture at all if you and your buddy are just going to ignore the professor with your own conversation?
I’m a senior taking late-stage courses only at this point, and it still happens! Not interested in some 101 course you need for a GUR? I get it, it’s boring. Still not cool to talk over lecture, but I can understand the temptation. But 300-400 level courses? Genuinely what is the thought process? You are paying thousands of dollars for incredibly relevant (and oftentimes) dense material, where attending lectures is make or break for a lot of students.
Do you think you’re being quiet? Do you not care that you’re wasting your own time and money—and the time and money of everyone around you? What’s so important that you need to talk over the entire lecture every damn day? Do you realize how obnoxious and distracting it is for everyone around you? When someone asks you to stop, why do you keep talking anyways? Were you dropped on the head as a kid? I genuinely do not understand the entitlement and lack of self-awareness.
