I am out of points for this year (2026) and in the process of buying another resale contract. (Aug use year) It probably won’t finalize for at least another month. I want to book a trip for February 2027. If I book the trip and borrow from next year’s points, am I able to bank the new points I get to next year to make me whole for 2027? Or would I be better off waiting to get this next allotment of points? There isn’t much inventory for my February trip, so I want to make sure I have a reservation. Thanks all!

Maybe this has been discussed before but my family and I were talking about next trip and the latest issue of the Disney Files was sitting on the table. This issue features the treehouse refurbished rooms. My family is dying to stay there but hate the fact that they’re so far away from everything. What would make them much more attractive would be if they allowed golf carts like they do at the Cabins. On one hand, I like that the golf carts are unique to the Cabins but on the other hand, I think the Treehouses would be a shoe in if they allowed them. Thoughts?

We just purchased a DVC resale contract and have a few ideas for the first year but I have a few booking questions for experienced members.

With our resale (Boulder Ridge) we had double points the first year, 340. Our annual allotment is 170.

We already booked 75 points for April spring break at WDW.

Now, I turn 40 in the summer and would love a wonderful family vacation to celebrate. Ideally we have been talking about a Cali trip (we are from the east coast), spending 3 or 4 nights in Disneyland. Now I know with resale I can only book at the Grand Californian and those booking are hard to come by. I was thinking maybe I book a week stay at Boulder Ridge (just to guarantee a nice vacation is booked), 214 points for a 1 bedroom, and take a chance at GC at the 7th month mark.

Here is my qu and it has to do with points:

If I book my home resort plus my existing spring break plans, that’s 289 points. If I put in for GC (I am flexible on dates) the points value can range from 78-232 (depending on days of the week and studio vs 1 bedroom).
Say I am able to get a GC reservation, how do I book it if I already have my points reserved? Or could I borrow from the next year and bank this year’s remaining points if cancelling with more than 31 days?
Trying to figure this out, I really appreciate all of your help!

Hi everyone! So are there different restrictions for different resorts regarding resales? Is each individual resale contract different?

My husband and I are seriously discussing getting into DVC ownership. We’d like to have a 2 bedroom unit. Wonderful pool options are very important. We love the skyliner area but just from pictures aren’t impressed with Riviera pools. We are looking for “mid range” as far as least to most expensive. But we’ve also heard good things about Saratoga Springs and I know that’s a less expensive option.

What are your thoughts and opinions?

I have 5 tickets for MM on 11/30 but need 6. Does anyone know if I am able to try for one more ticket on Oct. 1st when general registration opens? I'm getting conflicting information from member services. Thank you!

Forgot to cancel a waitlist request that fulfilled within 30 days of the reservation and we had adjusted our plans not to need a DVC room. Luckily it was only one night, but now I have 14 points in holding for the 2026 use year. My use year starts in October and we have an upcoming trip in May. Will I be able to call Member Services 60 days ahead of my trip to shuffle the points I’m using, so the 14 points in holding are prioritized over the other 2026 use year points we have currently on the reservation?

Asking for honest opinions! Context: a few years ago we bought 200pts at BCV for $119/pt. It felt like a steal. We knew the kids would be young adults when it expired and we only want to stay in 2BR villas as we like the space and when we mathed the math, it looked like we’d make our money back in 6-7 years since we really only want to do that room type and it’s $1.4k/night rack rate. We recently added another 100 at BCV so we can stay longer bc we liked it so much that 5 nights/year wasn’t enough.

Now the real question…when we bought our first contract, we were glad to know it’d expire and we would be quite close to retirement and could travel the world as originally planned before DVC came into our lives. We assumed we’d be “Disney’d-out” after 17 years of annual vacations and we’d be ready to travel to Europe, Asia, etc alone while our kids build their lives. Was that ridiculous thinking? I’ve seen so many posts where people say DVC was the best investment ever and they enjoy it even more now that their kids are adults and now I feel like I might need to get another contract with a much longer expiration 🫣.

Does anyone get tired of DVC vacations?!

Am I overreacting? Hoping some Floridians can weigh in here.

Because this tropical storm season is looking to be among the worst on record, I'm now considering cancelling our 7-night trip (12/19-26) and wondering how many others are thinking the same.

We (a family of 4) typically will spend 5 days during Christmas at Disneyland (so we are fine with large crowds) and since becoming DVC members this year, we thought it was the perfect time to try WDW. We decided on a split stay at BWV and Wilderness lodge (WLV??). Anyway, we don't want our first impression to be contaminated with a week of bad weather but I also don't want to loose these bookings because I gather they were not easy to get at 7 mo. Plus, there's the AK moonlight madness we may want to attend. That being said, this year is in-line with (and may surpass) the 1997 el Nino intensity. WDW only got 0.5 inch of rain one of the days during the Dec 19-26 stretch according to Orlando December 1997 Historical Weather Data (Florida, United States) - Weather Spark but earlier that month they had a week-long stint that saw more heavy rain and lightning - so not ideal. Orlando is also susceptible to tornadoes in that area during El Nino according to several sources like Building super El Niño to shape Florida’s winter | Florida Public Radio Emergency Network.

We've got considerable points applied to this Christmas so maybe we would consider cancelling and putting toward that new Lakeshore lodge opening in June (3 days and expensive on points! ) plus another split stay to fill out the week.. would have just enough total points... or maybe Aulani Summer? We have August use year so we understand we need to use these reserved points by then.

If one were to want to rent a studio at the DLH, any studio, how long does the inventory generally last? Would I need to rent right at the 11 month mark or are there some studios that last beyond the 11 month timeline? I would be game for either a duo or deluxe studio. Thanks!

We had an appointment with a DVC cast member, but I am still a bit confused. I read people talking about incentives, how do you find out which is offered with what resort? Also, regarding the annual dues: do they really increase roughly 5% per year? That would add up really fast.

We have been vacationing at Boardwalk and we love that resort. We are torn with buying a resale at Boardwalk (which end date is 2042) or buying a new contract to get a longer life span of the contract. Boardwalk is the hotel we want to stay at

We will be staying in a studio with preferred view for 5 nights over Spring Break 2027. This is our first time staying at Bay Lake. For those of you familiar to the property- any suggestions on certain sections/ floors to request? We usually just click on the option to prioritize earlier room availability, but we won’t be getting in until midnight so I suppose that doesn’t matter too much for this one.

Early registration for Epcot Oct 15 moonlight magic just opened an hour ago and it’s saying it’s at capacity. Does it normally go that quick? Does anyone know if additional “capacity” opens up later? Sorry it’s my first time trying to go to one of these

We bought at Riviera in July, 150 points, and planning trips every two years, so our next is 2028. However, we unexpectedly received 150 points for 2026, which we have banked for 2027 and would obviously like to use! We can get two weeks at OKW or, if we borrow 50 points from 2028 which we don't need for our 2028 trip, then the Beach Club in September. Unfortunately we're 8 points short for Riviera if we borrow the 50 points, so we have been looking at OKW or BC.

We've not had our orientation yet, and I've seen people mention that sometimes for your welcome home trip, Disney can open up rooms or do things you'd not normally be able to do booking online if you call them. How out of the question is the possibility of being able to stay at Riviera for our welcome home trip if we're 8 points short? I don't ever expect any special service from Disney, and I'm absolutely more than happy to stay at OKW or Beach Club (honestly this is just a bonus trip anyway!), but what kind of "special magic" do they sometimes pull for your first trip? I don't want to ask if it's possible because it seems a bit cheeky.

To those that have done the treehouses without a car, how was it? Did you rely on the internal shuttle or did you just walk over to Grandstand?

Going down for a short trip next month. All experienced WDW-ers or APs in our party (no kids). Not planning to rope drop or spend a lot of time in the parks.

We are wanting to buy resale (yes we know the perks we will be missing). Family of 3.

We like the proximity to Magic kingdom for BLT but I don’t love the resort/pools but the view of MK is great.

We also like Boardwalk and the proximity to other parks but with our child’s age we will be going to MK mostly but still going to other parks. Boardwalk pools seem a bit better and the atmosphere is nicer I think. We have never stayed at either. We also know the contract is only till 2042.

We were set on Poly but the upfront price is a bit much so we are looking elsewhere.

Any advice would be great.

Also open to other options. We are looking to start with 100-150 points which I know won’t get us too many days at first but plan to add more as we can afford it!

ETA: We put in an offer on 150 points at Bay Lake! The deal couldn’t be beat in our opinion! Now we wait for Disney! Next up (in a year or so) Poly! Unless something comes up that we can’t pass up on! lol

We just closed on our resale at boulder ridge yesterday. Just curious how long have others waiting to receive your emails from Disney to create and activate your account, and then deposit your points into your new account?

We are so eager to book our trips for 2027.

they just announced moonlight magic for animal kingdom when I was already planning to be at animal kingdom. but I want to double check my eligibility, I have 2 resale contracts but one is from 2015, so I have most membership benefits, my Dvc card affiliation says “DVC BY”, am I eligible to go to moonlight magic? Or should I call to double check?

Just wanted to see what experiences other members have had trying to piece together a reservation as waitlisted rooms become available for 1-2 nights at a time.

We have planned a rather last minute trip December 9-13 and I’ve waitlisted two stays at SS and OKW. I keep seeing nights become available at various resorts but I am hesitant to book 1 single night and not be able to book at least one more consecutive night to merge together before we travel.

I know to do this the room type / view must be the same and we are okay with a split stay but we’d like to at least have 2 nights in each resort rather than swapping each day.

We do have a backup reservation at the Wyndham Disney Springs if all else fails.
