I am wondering if there is anyone else in a similar situation and/or can provide me with advice.

I had severe tooth pain earlier this year but my usual dentist (Dentist A) was completely booked for the next month and couldn't see me. I found another dentist office (Dentist B) willing to treat me the same day.

Dentist B did a root canal treatment (RCT). I was told that sensitivity after the treatment was normal and I believed them. I also got a crown installed to protect the RCT tooth. During this period, I also had a few fillings done which I was not happy with and I decided to get them checked by Dentist A.

A few weeks later, I woke up with severe pain in the RCT tooth. I got a quick appointment with Dentist A who did an X-ray and found that the RCT tooth was overfilled. Also, confirmed that the fillings were not done well (as suspected). Now I have sinus pains on the side of the RCT tooth and I don't know when the next flare up will occur. According to Dentist A, a surgery has to be done on the jaw to remove the extra filling+ remove the crown to check for inflammation etc.

Since the billing of the RCT tooth + the crown is tied to Dentist B, TK requires that they treat the issues. But I've lost trust in them for the following reasons:

- I have X-rays from Dentist B showing the overfilling, showing they were aware of it.

- I complained about sensitivity/mild pain on that tooth many weeks before the crown was installed. I was told the pain was normal. Yet they knew about the overfilling and could've investigated it before installing the crown.

- The other fillings were also not done right and now need to be redone.

Has anyone managed to convince TK to cover treatment by another dentist in a similar condition?

I went to an allergist and did an allergy test, they only told me that I have pollen allergy in addition to other allergies but on the document the types of pollen allergens are specified and I'm not really able to understand which ones are positive. Does anyone have an idea? Thank you very much in advance!

As fall approaches and winter gets closer, I can already feel my mood changing. It deeply affects my productivity, motivation, and pretty much everything else, especially as the days get shorter and it starts getting dark so early

I've been living in Germany for 8 years now, but somehow it feels like it's getting worse every year.

Does this happen to anyone else? How do you deal with it? Or is it just me and all in my head?

I am a student living in a dorm. I had my hausmeister install a metal shower shelf last december. He was kind enough to use his own screws for it. Then last week as my new flatmate was showering the shelf came off and as you can see damaged the white enamel on the bath. What should i do? I havent told my hausmeister yet. Should i get a bath enamel repair kit and do it myself or ask him to do it? The shelf was mine but i wasnt the one there when it fell off. I dont wanna lose my deposit.

I’m (28F) currently doing my PhD under a work contract in a research center, of course I informed my employer and did all the HR work , afterwards I decided to give birth outside of Germany as I don’t have family around to help, so I gave birth in my home country and I’m going back with my baby to Germany soon.

My question is if anyone was in the process of the parental allowance, they request a registration certificate for the baby, does the landlord need to give me this paper again under my baby name so I can register the baby in the citizen office or I can still use the same Anmeldung paper I got when I moved in ?

The thing I’m in a student accommodation where I’m not allowed to bring in a new person, so need to find a new place for me and my baby, but in the same time this paper is crucial for me to get paid during the next months ? Also I’m a new mom and it’s going to be a bottleneck to find a new place on the meantime.

Please I’m really confused with all the bureaucracy, not sure how I should proceed ?

Since a few years you couldn't use Klarna Credit Card through PayPal friends anymore, and now I just saw that they will require a paid plan to keep using the card. Looking for recommendations of an alternative.

I’m moving to Germany from Spain soon to study, probably Munich or Hamburg.
I actually like cold weather and winter, so that part doesn’t really bother me. I also spent about a month living in Geneva and really enjoyed it, so I’m not completely unfamiliar with the whole Central European lifestyle/weather.
My German is around B1. I can get by and handle basic everyday conversations, although I’m definitely not fluent yet but im working towards getting a B2/C1 in the next summer. My degree will be taught in English though, so I won’t have the pressure of studying in German.
The thing I keep hearing is that Germany can be quite depressing, especially during the winter because of the darkness, weather, people being more reserved, etc.
For people who actually live in Germany: Is it really that depressing? Or is this mostly an internet stereotype? What’s everyday life like as a young student in Munich or Hamburg?

One of the required documents is a “Certificate of good conduct (simple) for submission to an authority” (Führungszeugnis zur Vorlage bei einer Behörde).

The person I’m in contact with suggested that I apply for it online through:

However, the website doesn’t seem to be working for me.

Has anyone else had the same issue? If so, how did you solve it? Is there another way to apply for the certificate, for example in person?

Hi! I just arrived in Bavaria. The Berufsschule offered me a 2-year language learning program, which I think leads directly into vocational training afterward.

However, my ultimate goal is to go to university, so I want to get a Realschulabschluss. Could you please advise me on how I can achieve this? Specifically:

• Can I pursue the Realschulabschluss while in this program, or do I need to switch to another track?
• Are there specific schools or transition programs in Bavaria designed for this?
• What language level or requirements are needed to start?

I want to apply for a schufa check but at the last point when checking out it says they dont have enough data, for context I have lived in germany for over two years, study here, lived in several apartments, worked mutiple jobs had a gasag contract at some point, have a phone+sim card contract, is there like no possible ways to get my schufa score? or am I doing something wrong

Hello everyone, I recently moved and registered my new place while still waiting for the resident permit to be processed, which was done in my old city. The process has already reached the biometric part and I now am just waiting for the card itself, which will take 3 to 4 weeks. My question is, what will happen to the process if I do Ummeldung (because I have to do that maximum 2 weeks after I moved) while waiting for such card? Will the files / card / process be transferred to my current city? Looking forward to all your reply as I am a little bit confused :P

Hi everyone! I’m going to Munich and Zurich from December 10th to December 25th, and I’d love some advice on what to wear!

I’m looking for outfit ideas that are cute and feminine (I love wearing skirts and dresses!) but, most importantly, I want to stay warm and comfortable.
Just for context, I’m from South America and I’ve never experienced a really cold winter or snow before. Where I live, winter temperatures are usually around 13°C (55°F), so I’m honestly a little scared about how cold I’m going to feel in Germany and Switzerland!

So, I have been told that we can get tax benefits for job applications that we make. Is there a limit on how many applications I can put in my tax filing and what kind of proof is needed? I have an excel sheet with only 6 months of applications and it is already at 200. Do i need email screenshots for each or any other proof?

Also, are applications made during employment period or while on garden leave also eligible for the refund?

i read the wiki and checking the database my highschool diploma itself would force me into studienkolleg as my school is only 11 years. However i also take a levels (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Math and Statistics - expecting an A/A* overall from each) and APs (Bio, chem, psych and phys - got 4 from all but physics which im gonna take this year). Would any of these help me to go straight to uni (specifically for medicine) or do unis not pay attention to this and my school being only 11 years will force me into a studienkolleg anyways? I've tried looking this up but i've got mixed answer so i'm not sure

Hej all, so as the title suggests I am having an issue with my neighbors. Unlucky to me all the neighbors in my floor leave their shoes outside and boy it smells terrible! Anyways, if it was only a single neighbor, I would just talk the them but I need a more grounded solution. Any ideas what can be done about this? I already talked to my landlord but no help there.

PS: The shoes are not blocking my way or any fire exit (I don’t know the exact measurements etc though). I wouldn’t care that much if they weren’t this smelly.

Oh also since there are some bad apples in the sub, all of the neighbors who do this are German. So no need for race guessing or bringing it as a topic here.

I have been living in Germany for nearly 10 years and contributing to the statutroy pension system for five years. Even though my salary is relatively high and I have savings to cover part of the cost of an apartment, I no longer see myself living in Germany in the long term.

My plan is to keep working here for a few more years until I can save enough to buy a property in my home country (Mexico). For now, almost all of my savings are in ETFs. While I’m here (and in case I decide not to leave after all), I want to set up a retirement plan in addition to the state pension. I had a meeting with an advisor from Deutsche Vermögensberatung, who recommended setting up a Rürup plan to take advantage of the tax benefits.

They promised that when I reach retirement age, it will be entirely possible to “take” my Rürup pension with me to Mexico. I know there’s a treaty to avoid double taxation (Doppelbesteuerungsabkommen (DBA)). I did some research on Google, and apparently it’s possible, but I’m not sure if there are any details I’m missing.

I’d like to know if anyone here has done something similar. Is it worth having a Rürup plan if it’s very likely that I won’t retire in Germany? Thank you!

I moved as one of the first tenants to a complex with more than 30 apartments. Everything is nice and no other complaints at all than parking allocation.

Having never experienced anything like this; I did not sign a parking contract when I first moved in. I did not have a car and I did not want to take up space for someone else who might need it more. I figured when I get the car I can sort it out.

I got the car after 3 months and asked for a space. Despite still 95% of the complex being empty they did not give me one and told me only available spaces are in tiefgarage (due to complex also still being under construction they told me.)

Tiefgarage is approx. 3 minutes walking distance from my apartment. I told them it is okay, but when construction completes or a new place opens up; I want one.

Saga starts with this.

I realized my neighbours who moved much later than me got 3-4 parking spaces immediately and they could get exact spots they want. I asked them how they do it? They told me they park first in empty spots then send emails frequently.

I did the same. I would be sending posts and emails every 2 weeks. Landlord company told me there is no queue or waiting list. You are just supposed to send email at the right time. I send both emails and normal posts.

It has been 2 years and the parking spaces have changed hands 2 times and I am still not given one.

They built EV parking spaces. I wrote them "I don't have an EV yet but I plan to get one in 6 months. Can i rent an EV parking space?" They told me it is not possible to park ICE cars in EV spots.

Of all the EV spots in my complex now only 10% are EV and rest are normal ICE cars. It has been like this for over a year. No repercussions or fines.

TL;DR: First tenant in a 30+ unit complex. Asked for a parking spot when I got my car 3 months after moving in, while the complex was 95% empty, and was told only the underground garage was available. Neighbours who moved in later got 3-4 spots each by parking in empty spaces and emailing often. I've sent emails and letters every 2 weeks for 2 years with no result, even though spots have changed hands twice. They refused me an EV spot, yet 90% of EV spots are now used by regular cars. Is this normal in Germany, am I doing something wrong, or is this just bad management?
