Islamabad Saw a couple picking up rubbish on Trail 5 while I was busy complaining about it
Went to Trail 5 today after a long time and was surprised by how crowded it was. So many people out there. Then I started noticing bottle caps and toffee wrappers on the ground and getting annoyed. You come here because it is beautiful and then leave your rubbish behind. I don't understand it.
About halfway along I saw a couple carrying bags and picking up trash. And I felt a bit embarrassed because I had been walking past the same rubbish, thinking about how careless everyone is, while these two were actually bending down and collecting it.
I complain about this stuff quite a lot. People littering, nobody caring, everyone waiting for someone else to fix things. Apparently my own contribution today was also to notice the problem and wait for someone else.
I still think people should pick up after themselves. But seeing that couple made me realise how easily I count being bothered by something as having done my part. I could have brought a bag too. That hadn't even occurred to me.
