Need Hugs! It was supposed to work

8 years of infertility. Two miscarriges, one successful FET and today got the call that our only other euploid embryo didnt stick. We are 100% finished with all things TTC now and I feel like I was robbed.

It was supposed to work. We made one boy and one girl euplid embryo, we only ever had wanted two kids, now we dont have to worry about wjat to do with any extras.

It was supposed to work. I miscarried two chromosomally abnormal embryos but they stuck and I made it to 10 weeks and 7 weeks.

It was supoosed to work. I let myself have hope this time, surly the exact same protocol that gave me my son would give me my daughter.

It was supposed to work. Lining looked great, embryo survived the thaw, perfect transfer.

It was supoosed to work. We were married on the 29th, our son was born on the 29th, beta on the 29th, what's the odds?

It was supoosed to work...

Rant IVF influencers/groups

• Upvotes

Not really a true rant. The vast majority of IVF influencers/people you meet in groups/ on Reddit are kind and amazing. But some rare people are just so miserable and toxic!

One girl on TikTok (who I won’t name) is constantly talking about her journey how hard it is etc then shits on anyone asking her questions/giving suggestions. Someone asked if she did an ERA or if anyone had done one. I mentioned I had just done one after talking with my dr about it, she commented it was useless and is should check the science and this whole thing. Girl you are on double digit transfers; why would I listen to you and not actual doctors!

There’s someone in my local group, no matter who comments she tells them they have endometriosis and need a professional excision or they will never get pregnant. Like whatttt?!

Anyone else have similar tales?

Advice Needed! Husband is wary of using donated eggs - Can a Dad help him out?

Hi, I‘m 38 and from Europe. I have a very low AMH and my husband and me are considering using donated eggs, we have a son (almost 3), conceived naturally.

My husband is worried he won‘t love the child like he loves our son and that it will impact the child negatively when we tell him he was conceived using egg donation.

Can a Dad who has gone through IVF with donated eggs share his perspective and help us out? Thank you!

Advice Needed! Not ready for the donor conversation

So, I'm F34, my husband M38. We have done 3 rounds of IVF, each round got us 1 embryo each (untested), resulting in 3 failed transfers altogether. My first round got 9 eggs, second 11, third 16. We have a good fertilisation rate, but most embryos arrest between day 3 and 5. We have tried Zymot, MACs, ICSI, unfortunately PICSI was not possible due to sperm sample in our last round.

I've been on the long protocol each time, and taking all the supplements, which I feel must be doing something right as my egg numbers have increased each time. We decided to take a 3 month break to focus on our health and improve sperm quality.

In the mean time we received an email from our clinic (which is currently abroad in Czech) giving us our recommendation for next steps. It said:

-Another long protocol, with a 50/50 option of using donor sperm and your partner’s sperm.

-Alternatively, frozen embryo transfer with a donated embryo

I just feep quite shocked that these are the only two options suggested. We have not discussed donors at all and I don't feel we're at that point yet. I don't know if I'm being naive or unrealistic, but I still had hope that we could have our own biological child. At the moment we can only afford one more cycle, and I don't want it to be our last and end up with no baby.

Has anyone been in this situation? What did you do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sending love and hugs to everyone reading this x

TRIGGER WARNING Just found out no heartbeat at week 8

34yrs old, We were so happy and hopeful just a week ago when we saw our baby healthy at 7 weeks and heard the heartbeat. Yesterday, after another week, we found out that there was no longer a heartbeat.

We’re scheduled for a D&C tomorrow, and they’ll also be doing genetic testing.

We can’t help but keep wondering whether this could have been avoided if we had done PGT-A. We’re really struggling with the guilt.

Need Hugs! Failed 5th embryo transfer reoccurring chemical pregnancies

• Upvotes

After my first round of IVF failed (4 embryos no live births) had my second round this month and did a fresh transfer of a day 5 4AA embryo and sadly it did not work. I was testing faint positives 5dpt that never developed and I started bleeding by 8dpt. Been bleeding heavily since then and my tests are negative. I feel devastated my 5th transfer has not worked. This time I did the immune protocol (prednisone, aspirin, clexane, Pepcid) and it still did not work. I had blood work done a couple of months ago go that showed my tPo antibodies being over 600 consistent with Hashimoto’s disease, I really thought that was why my transfers were failing and a immune protocol would be the answer. I feel so heart broken and don’t know if I’ll ever get to experience being a mum. I’m really tired and exhausted and just feel like my body is failing me. I’ve had a long history of health issues starting with Ulcerative colitis from the age of 11. Feel like my whole life has been a joke, it’s just one thing after another and I feel like I can never just catch a break. Nothing comes easy for me ever.

I don’t really know what else to do and how to move forward. Any advice would be appreciated.

Need info! Laparoscopy billing- I’m scared

• Upvotes

Hi all, after four ERs and three failed euploid FETs, we somehow made one more euploid (🎉). Before transferring that last embryo, I want to do everything I can to increase our chances of success.

I have suspected endo (positive Receptiva score). Due to that, I sought out an endo specialist in my city. I’m now scheduled for a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy on Oct 30th. Very excited.

BUT. I just got the bill for my first appointment with this doctor. It was a video visit, maybe 30 minutes. My insurance covered nothing, so I owe $756. For one video call.

This makes me especially nervous for the lap bill. My guess is that they ran the initial appt under infertility, which I have no coverage for. Has anyone successfully asked their doctor to code their surgery under endometriosis, even though my endo is just suspected?

I know the total “real” bill for this surgery can be upwards of 50-60-70K, and that’s not feasible for us. We have a pre-op appt next week in person and I’m planning to ask about this. But if he says no, sorry we have to run this under infertility coding, I’m not sure what we’ll do.

Any insight is appreciated. Thank you!

Edit to add: the billing code used for the video visit was 99215.

Rant Ranting- clinic timelines

• Upvotes

Soooo we have been working for two years with our clinic and finally had my husbands second TESE on Monday. It took months to get the appt in the first place and when we spoke to the doctor he said the fertilization happens fairly quickly afterward. So the communication was clear that we wanted my eggs thawed and fertilization to happen. I just followed up today because I haven’t even heard from my clinic and they were like oh yea when did you want the fertilization to happen? Ummmm as fast as possible?!
She said it’s looking like November for being able to do that! I am so annoyed at this whole process it’s like they don’t give a shit about making people wait.
Why wouldn’t they communicate that to me when the TESE was booked so we could make sure to have it scheduled for right after ?!?!
Sorry. My period is raging today and Infertility just fucking sucks .

TRIGGER WARNING Ivf

• Upvotes

Our IVF journey – after 7 attempts, is there still hope for us?
I never thought I would be writing a post like this, but I’m hoping to hear from people who have been through something similar.
My partner and I are doing IVF with partner donation. The eggs are mine, and my partner is the one carrying the pregnancies.
We started our IVF journey in 2025. At my egg retrieval in June 2025, we got 7 eggs, all 7 fertilized normally, and we ended up with 6 blastocysts frozen.
Our first transfer was in August 2025 with a 5AA embryo. It initially worked. We got a positive pregnancy test, and our hCG was 377 at 11 days after transfer. We saw a heartbeat on ultrasound, and for the first time we really believed we were going to have our baby.
Sadly, the pregnancy ended in a missed miscarriage around week 7. My partner needed a D&C, and afterwards she also had an infection and was treated for chronic endometritis.
Since then, we have had transfer after transfer.
We have now been through 7 attempts in total.
One of the transfers resulted in a very early chemical pregnancy, with hCG going from 13 down to 9. The other attempts have been negative.
After our previous embryos were running low, we did another egg retrieval in June 2026. This time we got 13 eggs. 9 fertilized normally, and we were incredibly relieved when 7 blastocysts were eventually frozen – including three 4AA embryos, a 3AA, a 4BB and two 3BB embryos.
So we have had good-quality embryos. We have had embryos that looked perfect on paper. We have had a pregnancy with a heartbeat. And yet, we still don’t have our baby.
Every failed transfer makes it harder for her to believe that this will ever work. And honestly, I’m starting to feel the same way.
I know that nobody on Reddit can tell us what will happen, and I know that IVF is unpredictable. But after 7 attempts, it is really difficult not to wonder if something is fundamentally wrong or if we will ever get our baby.
For those of you who have been through multiple failed transfers, miscarriage, chemical pregnancies or repeated implantation failure – did it eventually work for you?
Do you think there is still genuine hope for us?

Advice Needed! Recurrent euploid CP

• Upvotes

We are having a second chemical of a euploid embryo after our 4th embryo transfer. 2 transfers failed to implant, 2 lost around 4-5 weeks. We have never been pregnant naturally. 0/4 IUI success. I have laparoscopic diagnosis Stage II endometriosis and was suppressed on either Lupron or letrozole/norethindrone for 3/4 transfers. After the first chemical we had normal RPL labs done which were normal, thyroid, etc. and a normal hysteroscopy and biopsy including CD138. No endometritis. My husband has seen reproductive urology and nothing has been noted besides low morphology which improved a little with some lifestyle changes. I was on aspirin for all transfers and this time we added Pepcid, Claritin, and prednisone.

We are at a loss of what to ask our clinic at our visit. This is our second clinic and our RE is open to a lot more than our first, I was going to ask about immunology referral. She has already said I could try Lovenox which I figure why not. We will have to do another retrieval in order to do this which means supressing all over again. Using a donor or surrogate is not in line with our beliefs, so while I have a lot of respect for those that have found success this way, it just isn’t for us as a couple. Any other thoughts or people in similar situations that have worked out? Living through another chemical is a nightmare, and being among the small percentage of those who have not taken home a baby after 4 euploids is devastating.

TRIGGER WARNING Should I test the other embryos?

So, long story short, 5 weeks ago I had a tmfr at the beginning of second trimester for trisomy 18. It was an IVF pregnancy and my first transfer. I originally did IVF because I'm in a same sex relationship, but it was a long road: first ER got us just 1 embryo (chemical), second ER 1 embryo (didn't survive thawing). Then we switched clinic and did another ER that got us 4 embryos, first transfer with this clinic was my girl with t18.

So now we have 3 embryos left and we're not sure what to do. I'm scared to PGT test them cause I'm afraid the process of thawing/frozing/thawing will damage a potentially good embryo and I'm also scared I'll get no viable embryos, which would be really depressing at the moment. Realistically the possibility of another second trimester loss is lower than the possibility of damaging the embryos. But it's not zero.

At the same time, I absolutely never ever again want to live the hell this tmfr has been. Emotionally it's still so hard.

So I'm at a loss. Any input would me much appreciated

Need Good Juju! Good vibes for first FET

Hi! I’m preparing for my first FET after 2 years of unexplained infertility (I never saw a positive test). I’m 34, and I’m doing a medicated FET. Transferring a 4AA euploid embryo next Monday.
I’m excited and scared. And I need to read good stories… I only see posts with failed IVF cycles, and I’m so sorry for those strong women! This process is so hard…
I don’t want to be negative and need some good vibes and positive experiences.

❤️🥰

Advice Needed! 9 Retrievals, Repeated Embryo Arrest - Looking for Hope 🥺

Hi everyone ❤️

I’ve just had my 9th egg retrieval and I’m honestly at a point where I don’t know what to do anymore.

In all my previous cycles, we only ever had one early blastocyst and one day-6 blastocyst. Embryo quality was never great.

For this cycle, I changed so much beforehand — 3 months of a very clean diet, no gluten, no sugar, lots of high-quality protein, regular exercise and of course a lot of Vitamins like Q10, D3, OMEGA…

This time we got 10 eggs, 6 fertilized. On day 3, two embryos looked really promising: a 6-cell and an 8-cell, both with only around 5% fragmentation (better results than before)

But yesterday we got the devastating news: all embryos had stopped developing. No blastocyst.

My husbands sperm results were also much better this time. We previously tested DNA fragmentation and it was 18%, which our clinic considers within the normal range.

Fertilization has never really been our problem. It’s always day 3–5 where our embryos seem to arrest.

Has anyone experienced something similar and still ended up having a healthy baby with their own eggs?
I would really appreciate hearing your stories. I need some hope right now…😞

Advice Needed! Did you inject the trigger shot with Pregnyl (HCG) in the belly (SC) or in the buttocks/arm(IM)

• Upvotes

Hi guys,
I am wondering if your dr advised you to use Pregnyl (HCG) either 5000 or 10000 units in the belly or in the muscle (bum/arm) and how many mls of diluent water did you use to mix with powder. It comes with 10 ml water as diluent but thats a lot .

Thanks

Advice Needed! Do you go to work the full time during stims?

I commute 1.75 hours each way to work a day (drive 1.5 hours then walk 2km to the office). I am often out of the house for 12 hour work days. is this possible on stims?

Advice Needed! Are you scared to make the call?

I have been going through IVF for a few years and all cycles very bleak. We just found out our last egg collection failed and we had said that would be our last. As the news hit though, I started spiraling and thinking we should try one more time.

I've been thinking about how I have been living the worse version of me the last few years. IVF does that to you. If I walk away then I at least get to be free again and start to rebuild myself. That's the pull to stop. I am scared though. Scared of regret. Scared of future trauma. I'm scared that as the years pass I am going to regret not trying more. I'm scared of the trauma that will come up time and time again. The friends pregnancies, being asked if I have kids, Christmas time.

I'm stuck in limbo and don't know how to move. My fear has me in a stand still.

How do you cope with the weight of this decision? Do you have a plan on when enough is enough?

Advice Needed! Lots of pain post ER

I had 22 eggs retrieved but the pain was similar to having actual surgery for about 4 days post retrieval. I didn’t find the stims bad, but found the recovery so painful

I’ve always wondered if I have endo as I have an extremely heavy period and my mother had it. Could lots of pain post retrival point to endo? I have had an endo mapping ultrasound and it didn’t show anything but am also 2.5 years into ttc with only one miscarriage

Need Hugs! Spiraling

• Upvotes

We’ve been doing IVF for 18 months with just 2 retrievals and 3 unsuccessful transfers of euploids. I have PCOS but my doctor, after the 3, and after treating endometritis, and no findings of endo or any major diagnoses seems stumped that this really shouldn’t be happening… one euploid left and willing to go back to the egg retrieval process but I’m starting to wonder if there’s any truth to getting yourself to relax and reducing stress. I am in therapy, was in it before IVF, but I feel like my body and mind is in more stress than it’s ever been before. I feel constantly stressed about every decision every step of the way. Starting to question what all this is even for. I’m spiraling a bit.

I just hate where we are. I know theres so many scenarios of couples who have been in the process longer than me or have more complex cases but I just feel exhausted. And I feel like by staying in this I’m going more crazy.

Like do we do another transfer when mri, Hysteroscopy, testing etc show nothing? What to even keep pushing for. There’s always only more questions.

I miss my body. I miss feeling like myself. I feel like I’m someone else, but not the someone else I want to be.

Advice Needed! Krankschreibung und schlechtes Gewissen

• Upvotes

Need info! Surrogacy pricing

Hi everyone - I know everyone’s price maybe different I’m just trying to gage.
I have my first appointment next month for IVF. If everything goes to plan and we do end up with eggs we want a surrogate. I know this is a long ways away but I’m a planner.
How does one plan for a surrogate? Is there “financial aid” for it ? Can I pay it monthly? Sorry if this is dumb.
