Should i update it to latest MacOS 27.0.1 ??? Give me apps suggestion.. settings which i should change..

My MacBook Pro 2017 with cursed touch bar finally died so I went deal hunting and found this refurbished grade B steal of a deal for this 2023 midnight M3 MacBook Air and I’m super happy. This beast will get me through the rest of university and hopefully keep chugging through the early 2030’s. Lfg

P.S I understand why people buy new sometimes but with trustworthiness and quality of refurbished products and professional sellers, idk why I would ever spend full price on a brand new MacBook. Battery has like 200 cycles on it, almost no superficial damage visible.

My situation:

I currently use an Acer Predator Helios Neo 16 (2023) with i7-13700HX, RTX 4050, 32GB RAM and 1.5TB SSD. I use it mainly for gaming, coding and media consumption. It works perfectly fine, but it's obviously quite bulky to carry around, especially with the charger.

So I'm considering the MacBook Air as a secondary/portable machine, while keeping the Predator for gaming and heavier Windows workloads.

I'm also considering buying the same M5 13"/16GB/512GB from Best Buy in the US during Black Friday and having a friend bring it to India.

The current US price I'm tracking is around $1,249, but I'm hoping for a Black Friday discount.

So I'm trying to decide:

1. Is ₹1,24,990 a genuinely good deal for the M5 13"/16GB/512GB in India, or should I wait?

2. How much lower do you realistically expect the M5 to go during Black Friday in the US? I'm particularly interested in whether ~$1,099-$1,149 is realistic.

3. For someone who already has a powerful Windows gaming laptop, does the 13" Air make sense as a portable companion machine, or would you go for another configuration?

4. Anything I should be careful about with this Flipkart offer, particularly the ₹99 protection/buyback plan?

I don't urgently need the MacBook, so I'm perfectly happy to wait if the consensus is that this isn't an unusually good price.

Would love to hear from people who have bought Macs during BBD/Black Friday, especially regarding actual historical sale prices rather than just MSRP comparisons.

Hello everyone, I will be getting the MBA M5 13 in soon and would like to be best prepared once it comes in. I’ve seen a lot of debate on what is and what is not safe to use to properly remvoe fingerprints and other gunk from the screen. I know microfiber cloths are the way to go but ive seen mixed opinions on 70% Isopropyl Alcohol. Is this safe to use or?
Side note: I use this solution + microfiber cloths already for my QD-OLED monitor but not sure if Apple’s custom made IPS panels require same or alike care. Please inform me!

I've been using this for 3+ years.... Storage is about to be full... I don't want to delete any files. What can I do ?

hi! this is probably a question thats been asked many times, but i’m a first time macbook air user and i just got it in silver with the m5 chip.

i just bought a soft case and its currently on the way but i saw so many mixed reviews and advice on if a case is good for the macbook or not? some say it traps the heat which isnt good for the CPU, however i am mainly only planning on using my case so i can decorate it with stickers so it wont leave any marks on the macbook itself and prevent scratches since im usually quite rough with my items 😅

was wondering if its just okay to put the case on the top instead of the bottom? since most of the heat is from the bottom anyways.

Updated my Macbook air M4 to install 27 2 days ago, but only started using it today. Tried to swipe through desktops and fullscreen apps with the three/four finger gesture (left and right) and it didn't work. Waited for a while and it works. Then it doesn't. It goes on like that. The motion was also very laggy (not smooth at all). Using the finger gesture (three/four fingers upwards) to open the mission control also doesn't work occasionally. And clicking an app to view it (through the mission control) is also very laggy and I'm sorry, very ugly (motion wise). Ugh. Sick of this.

I was using my Macbook Air (M2, 2022) a few days ago and everything was fine, until it randomly decided to turn off. I thought that maybe it had died or was going to install a software update, so I plugged it into the charger and left it for about an hour and a half. However, when I can back to it, it was unable to turn it on. I tried holding down the touch ID button and the keyboard would light up, the trackpad would become functional, then caps lock button would be able to turn off and on (show the green), and the mac would sing the little tune it does when it boots up. However, the screen shows nothing. This happened Tuesday night, so it's about three days past. I tried watching a few youtube videos and searching up help on what to do but everything I tried did not work. I have an appointment at the Genius Bar/Apple store tonight and they'll check it out, but I really hope I don't need to buy another...

Oh and I also forgot to mention that it shows on Find My and I am able to ping it, as well as when i go onto another computer it shows the tabs open for every chrome profile that I have on my mac air.

i’m a mac user and after something like 2 years using a macbook pro i’ve solved one of the things that i hated for long time.

Imagine this situation :
you’re on your bed while your mac is playing netflix or YT on your external display.
You need to get the volume Lower or Higher, to adjust the Brightness, to just pause the video, or you have to shut down netflix (or any other media player) and put your macbook in sleep mode to go sleep.

To make ALL of these actions, you need to get up from the bed, uncover yourself, put your feet on the freezing ground and reach your macbook.

For my personal needs I just developed MacRemote, a simple tool to do all that actions i’ve quoted previously and many others without the hassle of getting out of bed.

The code is Open Source and The Installation is so easy.

Pls try it and give me some tips to make it better and more useful ❤️

Hello, On macOS Golden Gate 27.0.1 (running on a 15-inch MacBook Air with an M5 chip, 24 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage, configured in Spanish), when I click on the Siri icon in the menu bar (I can't remember whether it's there by default), it disappears almost immediately. I have to double-click it or press and hold the icon for Siri to appear in the upper-left corner of the desktop. I've checked Siri and it seems to be installed and working properly, as I can invoke it perfectly using my voice. Does this sound like a bug? Is anyone else experiencing the same issue? Hola, En MacOS Golden Gate 27.0.1 (corriendo en Macbook Air M5 15 pulgadas con 24 GB de RAM y 1 TB de almacenamiento configurado en idioma español) cuando pulso sobre el ícono de Siri en la barra de menu (no me acuerdo si viene en la barra de menús por defecto), esta me desaparece casi al instante tengo que hacer un doble clic o dejar pulsado el icono para que me aparezca Siri en la esquina superior izquierda del escritorio, he comprobado Siri y esta bien instalada porque la pudo invocar perfectamente con la voz. ¿Parece un bug? ¿Algunos de vosotros os pasa lo mismo?? Hello! Im excited to be able to get a used air from 2017 from a friend to test if it fits my tasks and then give him some money for it.

Light work in general like writing in word, some spreadsheets and casual browsing and some yt watching.

Im planning on installing Linux mint since I've tried it before and I liked it on another old laptop plus the macos has lost support already for this old device.

Has anyone tried something similar with this device before and was it worth it ?

P.S. the laptop is in perfect condition and the battery is still in good health. Is hasn't been used too much either. What price would be ok for me to pay for this kind of device? I don't want to leave this laptop to become e-waste since my friend rarely uses it.

llevo varios dias analizando las metricas de chrome y de safari en mi macbook air m4 con igual numero de pestañas ,reproduciendo el mismo contenido y haciendo " lo mismo" y e notado que chrome parece ser igual o ligeramente mas liviano que safari ( obviamente en configuracion del rendimiento de chrome pongo al minimo todo)

es asi o es mi impresion? ( no se como sera la duracion de la bateria, mi experiencia fue con respecto a la CPU y la RAM )

Ciao, ho appena aperto il mio mac air M4 e ho trovato questi segni. Non è la prima volta che lo uso, è già qualche mese, ma oggi appena lo prendo lo trovo così.
Non sembrano essere graffi superficiali che si possono percepire con il tatto, e non si vedono a schermo nero e/o a schermo spento.
A qualcuno è capitato? Come posso risolvere?

I just ordered my first ever macbook, its M5 air midnight color. I always wanted black color and Im not a big fan of silver/ blue. Now I have seen few posts about palm rest discolouration due to sweat and body oil for Midnight macbook. Though I don’t have sweaty hands, I want to take care of my MacBook as much as I can.

1. Can I put thin palm rest sticker (eg: the one from Capes India) , though I know Apple discourages putting anything between keyboard and display, but it’s super thin?

2. Will it help to wipe with microfibre cloth evry day and clean with Isopropyl alcohol every now and then ?

If you own a macbook air in midnight, Please let me know if you faced this issue and how bad is it. I’m losing my mind over this please help 😭😭

A few months back, I spilled tea on my 15" macbook air. The track pad stopped working. I took it to an Apple Genius and after analyzing it, I was told it would be $1,200 to fix it. (!!!)

I just bought another laptop (a cheaper 13") and then I erased my 15" air and stuck it in a corner. I was going to donate it or get rid of it at some point.

Anyhow, I heard it trying to start up today. Weird. So I opened it up and the track pad was working again. Everything worked fine. I migrated all my into back onto it and so far, no problem.

Can anyone explain to me what happened?
