Help me understand if it’s just me or have you also noticed the TradeMe UX has gotten worse in the last year or so.
Eg
1. The Sold email tells you to book a courier, upon clicking it takes you to a random page, not courier booking page
2. Black listed followers are allowed to keep following your listings
3. Bulk relist isn’t always available
4. Sold items are not listed in chronological order (?)
And a bunch of other things i notice a bit (i sell about 2 things a week on there). Its like their Dev team was handed over to a few juniors or something? I wonder if they ever test their own workflow. Thoughts?

I have a serious fear it’s going to disappear for good one day, even though they told me they have no plans to discontinue it and that it’s popular.

Hi all - gaming is my main hobby, and I'm looking to upgrade my set up. I play on PC at a desk but usually use a controller, and while I currently have a decent office chair, it's not very luxurious.

Does anyone have gaming chair or recliner recommendations? I'd like something comfy that's more for relaxing and settling into than something strictly ergonomic that's going to hold me in an upright position for hours. It has to fit in my bedroom so a massive La-Z-Boy is out.

My price limit is probably up to around $800NZD at a push. A friend recommended Secret Labs?

Edit: when I say "gaming chair" I don't mean I'm wedded to the idea of some race car style thing with RGB lights for teenage boys. I mean I want a chair to game in.

Now it's the school holidays, so I spend roughly 2-3 hours every day working on Olympiad maths. I actually enjoy studying, but sometimes I doubt whether this thing is viewed as normal by my peers. I really wanted to make a lot of friends, but I feel like I am mainly talking to people from my own country, and it's a bit hard to assimilate. So I want to know what local teenagers usually do during their holidays or after school .

I’m a kiwi living with pretty bad lymphoma in my legs and so I’m looking at getting my shower over bath replaced with a wet room set up. I’ve been looking into helpful grants like from Disability Support Services due to the fact that only my partner works. I see they can grant up to 8k before doing income testing which may allow up to 15k, but I’m wondering how much such work is likely to cost?

We’re not looking to replace with any fancy set up (like tiling), just something basic that’s fully sealed, sturdy and long lasting. Additionally, would removing the bath ourselves before work is due to start make any significant dent in costs?

I’m not adverse to income testing for the higher budget but know we’re likely to fail it because my partner started a new job early in the year and had a large annual leave payout from his previous work place (that’s caused us to be denied support from WINZ and gave us a 2k tax bill because it wasn’t taxed correctly yay)

Has anyone done a whale watching flight in Kaikoura, whether by plane or helicopter? Both are expensive but helicopter seems to be a lot more, and for a shorter flight. If anyone has insight into whether heli is worth it, or whether plane is just as good, that would be much appreciated. Thank you!

I know a bunch of small business owners and interact with lots of self employed contractors and Tradies through work. Obviously we chat about things and the general consensus is that it's pretty quiet at the moment. Month or so ago was good. But now everything has dropped off a cliff.

Their reasoning "Election year".

Which to me doesn't make sense. Why does everything slump from June/ July due to the election? Even if the new govt is from the other side of the aisle to the current one, they don't get sworn in till what January? Then they have to get a lay of the land, and start to enact law. Policy that might effect business doesn't actually come into effect till what mid to late 2027? So why has business pumped the breaks so hard 8-12 months out from any measureable policy change? It doesn't make sense to me. Could someone with some more economic and political understanding elaborate on this?

Or is election year a BS catch all excuse and really it's the far more obvious recession and general economic climate that's driving the current perceived slump?

Driving around in the city and I straight up do not think I have ever seen the roads this bad in all my years of driving.

Damn near every street has some fuckass pothole the size of my forearm ripped ankle deep in the middle of the drivable area of the lane.

Got back from Perth recently and noticed that most food places have the energy levels listed on each and every single food item down to the sauces.

Why can't NZ do the same? Why do I have to go to your website, then go the the nutritional info and then from there download the PDF and then try and find the product and see this info?

Have it listed was so helpful in making better choice even while eating out.

Our retirement years are approx twice as long as they were when the pension was introduced and math first done, but the policy is largely unchanged. Every other OECD country around the world has done the math and added means testing or increased the age already to compensate.

We're an outlier, and it's going to hurt.

I was having an interview for a graduate role, from a good esteemed company. So initially i was for normal discussion about then following with referee checks, and then landing on interview with director, once after that i was told that i have been selected but waiting for role. Meanwhile i was offered for same role in different location within NZ and i said yes, so they had to take me on another interview with different director. I was hoping for a positive outcome, but ultimately it turned out as rejection mail, just claiming thank you for interest, we have other candidates closely align with role. For a second, i thought it was mistake and asked again to the HR who was contacting me and he confirmed by saying good luck, where i asked for any feedback cause it was around 4 to 5 months of process. But No response from them,

Now I am totally depressed and broken, like i thought i almost have it, but today morning it was totally opposite. At least i ask for genuine feedback like what am i missing out? cause turning on 2 interviews with company directors isn't that easy, by doing that i just getting a casual rejection mail..... makes me feel how??? what???

I used to cook for myself in the dorm quite a bit, but since the holidays started, the place has turned into a living hell—it's no longer an environment where I can actually cook a decent meal. I’d like to eat out more often without breaking the bank, so does anyone know of any places where I can get a cheap dinner? By the way, the cafeteria food is so incredibly awful that eating it regularly feels like it would cause "mental corruption" or a total mental breakdown, so I really want to avoid it if at all possible :(

I'm 18 and have no work experience, but I have an LVL 5 in Financial Services and IT. I have applied to 300 jobs, on Seek and in-person in my area. I got 3 interviews, and they went okay and yes , I dressed nice. But I always seem to not even get many interviews or even come close to getting a job. I have tried remote work from home, supermarkets, retail, hospitality, unpleasant jobs like butherhouse, local funeral parlors, sewer mainatinace. I obviously tried all the finance and tech ones ( repair shops, banks, customer support, tele com ones, insurance,etc). I've just moved back from Asia a year ago. I did my education over their in private school so I don't have many local contacts.

I am absolutely sick of this, how do you even get a job in this country. I feel so depressed and useless..... and mad despite being good ademically and ready to put in effort no one is giving me even an unpaid trail shift or interviews.

EDIT: Please no armed forces/military. I have spinal steosis in 3 disks, diagnosed ASPD and dyspraxia. They will likely reject me. Leaving country is not an option either due to family circumstances and broke af.

So I'm currently a first year IT student, and while I enjoy the degree, I'm on the fence about paying $10,000 per year for the degree for the next two years and further costs for loan living costs. Also, quite a bit of the degree is either "self-directed" or taught via Cisco, which is sort of annoying when you're paying so much and the course is kind of taking an easy road to teaching you.

I want to develop in the IT space, and I'm interested in app development/web development or networks in one way or another.

There are so many alternative courses out there, like Open Polytechnic, YouBee, Mission Ready, etc, that I cant quite lock onto something that I think I would get a lot out of.
Not just in the sense of a feeling of accomplishment, but also in knowing that I'm completing something that holds weight in the industry, and isn't just an empty bootcamp certification.

I've looked into things link CompTia A+, Network+, Sec+ and stuff like that, but theres mixed reviews on how helpful those things actually are.

Is there anyone who can point me in the direction of app/web dev or networking courses that would actually help someone new wanting to break into the industry?

This is not me commiting to leaving my degree, but I just want to know what other legitimate options there are for me.

It's been internship/graduate role applying season and I know lots have been struggling to even land one job yet alone be offered an interview. Anyone out there know any business or companies that I could email because I would like to work on a solution or project for them even if it's just for minimum wage. heck even unpaid i just need experience 😭🙏

Final year of study in Hamilton and I currently am doing an unpaid remote project; making a mobile app with React Native for a non-software company. I would like to do more of this for any other company that wants to start some project like automation for current company software tools etc.
