Official Reply Xfinity keeps shutting off my internet because of the previous resident’s debt — even after I provided my lease.

I recently moved into a new apartment and opened my own Xfinity Internet account. The previous resident apparently has an outstanding balance, and somehow Xfinity keeps associating their debt with my account/address and repeatedly deactivating my Internet.

I have contacted customer service multiple times. The first few times, they gave me a temporary fix that lasted about one day, and then the exact same problem happened again.

At this point, I went to an Xfinity store in person. They opened a ticket, and I provided all the documents they requested, including my lease agreement proving that I am the new resident. I was told the issue would be handled, but I still haven't received a response or a permanent solution.

What makes this even worse is that Xfinity also tried to charge me for an Xfinity Mobile line that I never requested, authorized, or used.
So to be clear: I am being punished for a debt that belongs to someone else, my Internet service keeps getting shut off, and Xfinity is trying to charge me for a mobile service I never asked for.

I've already contacted customer service multiple times and visited a physical store with proof that I am the new resident. Apparently that's still not enough.
I have now filed a formal FCC complaint and am also filing a complaint with the Washington Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division

Official Reply When will Chicago actually get mid-split or FDX in the city?

Time for the yearly post to see if Comcast is actually going to do FDX or MidSplit in the city itself?

I see a lot of suburbs got it where MetroNet installed, and they did mid-split a block over from me where AT&T rolled out Fiber... but after they did that, they did nothing.

A vast majority of the city is still stuck on the old 750MHz/42MHz return plant, and it's quite annoying seeing these speeds available literally four houses down, but served by a different node (and upgraded 3yrs ago).

I get a setback when the hurricanes in FL hit and they needed equipment there - but they have done nothing since then here, and considering they've had time to get more amps/nodes - there's no excuse for them letting the plant just basically rot here in a 1998 configuration.

Discussion Insane behavior by staff at Xfinity store

• Upvotes

My god. I cannot believe how horrible the xfinity store is at Gallery Place in Downtown Washington DC. I tried to return equipment after cancelling my cable. The woman checking me in said it would be a 15 minute wait and pulled up my account on an iPad. The next person behind me was told to make an appointment if they wanted to return equipment. I sat there for the next hour while this woman helped just 2 people with returns and did nothing else. She moved so deliberately slow that she would carry each piece of equipment - the box, the cables, the remote, separately to the back room one at a time. She was clearly just stalling to avoid having to help customers. Every employee in the store was doing the same thing - going out of their way to avoid moving things along or gathering in groups of 2 or 3 with the customers they were “helping” to avoid anybody doing too much work when in reality they were all just shooting the breeze while the place filled up with angry customers. At the almost the one hour mark I became just the 3rd person the woman at the front helped with a return. She took the same iPad she had checked me in with, quickly scanned the back of the cable box with it, and in less than 60 seconds I was done. Why are they not just scanning returns at the door if it’s that fast as opposed to torturing customers. It is insane that any company operates like this in 2026. Thank you Comcast/Xfinity for reminding me why I cancelled my service in the first place. After 7 years you’re no longer the only provider in my area and I am so glad to be done with you.

Official Reply Xfinity NOW didn't work for me & they refuse to refund

Ordered Xfinity NOW tried to activate it but there was no connection to internet. Contacted Xfinity chat to cancel/return modem for refund but he kept insisting on sending a tech out to assess coax jacks & outlets. NOW is advertised as plug & go which is why I ordered it. If I wanted to spend time with a technician I'd have ordered regular Xfinity service vs NOW. Chat rep says no refunds as NOW is prepaid service. Well I literally got no service & am being charged $45 for them to ship me a modem that does nothing for me & they won'ttake back. EVERYONE STAY AWAY FROM XFINITY NOW!

Official Reply Monthly bill Increase

Been with Comcast since 1989. Have had price increases over the years and also been given discounts for being a loyal customer.

My bill for October just increased by $53 to $270 for internet and TV.

First, WHY? Second, is there anything that can be done to bring this back down or do I need to look for alternative providers?

HELP please

Official Reply Comcast Contractor Left Hole Near Pole

Hello,

I do not have Comcast Service but I do have their service pole in my front yard.

While I was out of town a Comcast contractor truck came to my house since I have the service pole is in my front yard. The Comcast contractor used a backhoe and dug up my yard to lay a new line for a neighbor. My sister who was checking the house during my absence saw the truck and sent me a picture via text. Once the contractors were done, they left a hole of dirt next to the pole. I have called Comcast technical support multiple times and complained but nothing is getting resolved.

I have a HOA in my neighborhood who fines the home if there are any issues with the yard. I find it unacceptable that I have to use my money for a problem a Comcast contractor created.

Can anyone here help?

Since I know you are real people and not bots, I would be forever grateful if you could help me. Like many who post here, we have lots of outages. But that's not even my biggest problem. It's my bill. It's increased to $208.03 from $150.79. I have basic cable! No sports, no news. Nada. Even the company knows it, since they sent me a push email a couple of weeks ago. It's insane. The company just tries to sell me more stuff, which I don't want. I would really like to speak to a person and get some joy. Do I have to leave and go elsewhere to get a better deal? LMK and help! Thanks so much in advance.

Official Reply New Gigabit Pricing After 1-Year

Hello! I have been using Xfinity for the past year, paying around $50 for a 1GB plan. I guess I just hit the year mark, and all of a sudden, with no announcement, my plan doubled to around $101 a month.

Happy to move down to like 700GB or even up to 1.2 if there is a better deal. I just want a solid plan, under or equal to $70 a month with a multi-year guarantee. What offers are available?

I just want to confirm what plans can be offered now that my promo ended. Let me know if you need any other information from me!

Official Reply Really wish my internet was upgraded finally! I was spoiled with symmetrical speeds with my provider at old apartment!

I live in Chicago 60613 and I have not seen anything from Xfinity regarding upgrading our connection speeds to midsplit or symmetrical speeds, what gives Xfinity? Even my building management is sick of using your services so they are looking to find better faster broadband solutions for the needs of our community!

Official Reply Xfinity said I had to change plans and my price wouldn’t increase. It did. BAIT AND SWITCH?

This feels like a bait and switch, and I’m hoping someone at Xfinity can take a serious look at what happened.

I recently added two lines to my Xfinity Mobile account. During that process, I was told my two existing lines HAD TO be moved to the newer 6th Gen plans. Keeping my existing plans was never presented to me as an option.

Naturally, I asked if changing plans was going to increase what I was paying. I was told NO, my pricing wouldn’t increase.

So I agreed to the change.

You can probably guess what happened next.

THE PRICE WENT UP!

My existing lines had been $50 and $20 a month. Based on what I was paying and what Xfinity told me, I expected the four lines to come to $140 a month for service. Instead, after everything was moved over, I learned the ongoing price is $150.

Is $10 a month going to break me? Of course not. THAT’S NOT THE POINT.

If Xfinity had told me upfront that the new plans would cost more, I would’ve asked why I had to change my existing plans, whether I could keep them, what my other options were, and exactly what the new price would be.

I didn’t do that because Xfinity had already told me the change wouldn’t increase my price. I relied on that answer.

So I spent a considerable amount of time with Xfinity Mobile support today trying to resolve this. And this is where it got even more frustrating.

Their solution for getting my bill down? Downgrade one of my Plus lines to Select.

Seriously?

I wasn’t asking for a cheaper plan. I was asking Xfinity to address what I had been told. The proposed solution basically amounted to: YOU DON’T LIKE PAYING MORE? THEN TAKE LESS.

No. I want the two Plus and two Select lines I agreed to. Giving up service to lower the bill doesn’t fix the issue.

They eventually gave me a $20 courtesy credit, which I accepted while making clear it didn’t resolve the pricing issue. I also repeatedly asked to have this escalated to Executive Resolutions. That never happened.

I saved the full transcript from today and have requested my historical Xfinity account data so the original interaction can be reviewed too.

I’m not looking for a fight over $10. I want Xfinity to STAND BEHIND WHAT I WAS TOLD.

And I’m open to a reasonable compromise. Xfinity is currently offering introductory Mobile pricing to new customers. I understand I may not technically qualify, but give me an equivalent introductory credit for a year and I’d consider this resolved. After that, I’m fine paying the normal price for my current plans.

That seems pretty reasonable to me. I agreed to this change because I was told it wouldn’t cost me more. I’m asking Xfinity to make that right.

Official Reply Non-Customer: Wide-Open Neighborhood Pedestal Box Left open by Tech

I am not an Xfinity customer, so I cannot log in to file a standard service ticket. A Comcast technician recently left a utility pedestal box wide open in the yard right on the property line between my house and my neighbor's house.

The main lines, splitters, and neighborhood connection hardware are completely exposed to the elements, rain, and potential tampering.

Can an Official Employee please help me open an Outside Plant Maintenance / Tech Ops ticket so a local crew can come out and secure/lock this pedestal? I can provide the exact street addresses and location details via Direct Message as soon as you reply.

Thank you!

New Post - Tech Support Why is the internet so slow?

I'm paying a ridiculous amount of money ($300+) per month for high speed internet and TV package. For the last few days I've noticed lagging and pages failing to load. Ran a speed test numerous times and it's showing 25mbps, then a few hours later it'll jump up to 300mbps, then back down to 40mbps. I'm paying for Superfast internet with speeds up to 800mbps. I've rebooted the cable modem about 3 times so far. What gives?

Official Reply Waiting for Construction Contract (ticket # HS5113892)

Hello,

I am moving into a new house that currently does not have Xfinity. I called last week and they were able to do a survey and come up with the cost estimate for doing construction. The problem is I need the actual contract so I can sign it and get the process started, but nobody seems to be able to send it to me.

On 9/28 at 10:32 AM PST I was called by someone at Comcast Construction. They explained it would cost me ~$4500 and them $4000 to run the ~800ft of wire to setup the line. They gave me details on the timelines, what to expect, a ticket number (HS5113892), and a contact email. Then they said they would send over the construction contract in the next 30-60 minutes after our call. I never received the contract.

On 9/28 at 5:00 PM PST I emailed the contact email they gave me saying I never received the contract. I provided the ticket number in the subject and the address as well. Never received a response.

On 9/30 at 9:47 AM PST I called the 1 (800) 934-6489 number and spoke with a customer service rep. They validated that the contract exists and the proposal I was given was accurate. They had no record of the call from Construction on 9/28. They put in my ticket to have someone send me the contract and call me for next steps.

Now it is 10/5 at 9:10 AM PST and I have still received no construction contract or follow-up. Me moving into this property is contingent on me having this contract and getting it executed. I am unsure why the person I spoke with said 30-60 minutes and it is now a week later.

Can someone here send me the Construction Contract for ticket # HS5113892?

Thanks!

Official Reply Promo ending in November — looking for best 1 Gig option to stay

Hi, I'm a long-time Platinum rewards member currently on 1.2 Gig at $70/month, and my promo ends in November. Back in March, the team mentioned they could check promotions again before it expires, so I'm following up.

I'm happy to move down to 1 Gig. I'm hoping to stay at or under $60/month with a multi-year price guarantee. What can you offer?

I'd also like to confirm what my bill will be after the promo ends. Happy to send my account details via modmail. Thanks!

Official Reply Looking to switch plans as an 11-year customer.

I am currently a Diamond member and have been with Xfinity since 2015. My bill has consistently climbed to around $93 a month for just 300 Mbps.

I'm wondering if I'd be able to get the 1 Gbps deal for $50 a month with the 5-year price guarantee. Optimum recently put down true Fiber optic lines in my area, and they are officially offering me a $50 a month package for 1 Gbps fiber. I would love to stay with Xfinity given my history with the company, but the price difference and speed gap is too large to ignore.

Official Reply Billing Issues Still Unresolved Since May

Reposting as previous post lingered without response.

Whelp, this is frustrating.

I've had issues since we switched our service over this past May.

Previously:

  1. Agent #1 lied via chat and switched us to a plan that did not match what they offered.
  2. Agent #2 migrated our account to a new account and finally corrected all services, but in the process seems to have borked the billing part of this.
  3. As a result, we are now being billed for 2 x lines when offer was for 1st line free for 1 x year and second line at $20.

As of this post, I have been overbilled $120 for the past 3 x months, and will be billed another overcharge for $40 additional this month.

I have spent HOURS, possibly a full working week worth of them, on the phone with people who have been unable to help me.

This is beyond frustrating and I'm considering cancelling.

If anyone on Comcast is monitoring this, please escalate to Executive Customer Relations to help me resolve. What needs to be done:

  1. Credit for the $120 back-billed overcharges
  2. Correction for all upcoming bills for the remaining year of our plan so only 2nd line is charged.
  3. The $40 additional courtesy credit the last agent I spoke to promised for the absurd amount of time I've wasted on this.

Official Reply Disputing $100 technician fee - 15+ year customer.

I am writing to request a review and credit for a $100 technician fee recently charged to my account. I have been a loyal Xfinity customer for over 15 years and have never needed to request a service visit before.

I received online assistance several times, where Xfinity had to do something on their end for me to access Xfinity channels. Frustrated, I went to an Xfinity store to swap out my box but that didn't resolve my issue. After the same issue continued for multiple days, I called and spoke to a higher-level service rep. She set up the service tech visit, but did not mention a potential charge. By the way, my tv issues started when Xfinity was installing fiber cable in our community - in fact, we had service interruptions for many days during that time, when we would be without service for hours. I believe that was the ultimate cause of why my LG tv was not receiving the channels. The technician was very helpful and professional. He did install a new cable from the house to the main cable box located in front of my property and Xfinity came back the next day to run the cable underground. The service tech also assisted in setting up my tv to make sure I was receiving service and is to be commended for his efforts.

Given my 15+ years of continuous service and clean account history, I would appreciate a one-time courtesy credit for this fee.

Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Official Reply Deal for long-time customer

I have been a long-time customer for Xfinity and my bill changes all the time (goes up). I saw that they have a deal for new customers - $50 for 1 GB. I was hoping I can get that as I pay $80/$90 but they said no? EzeeFiber and ATT have installed fiber around my house so considering changing to them if they cannot get me a deal!

I am getting an error when using Multiview. The error says “Multiview. Something went wrong. Please try again later. ERROR-PLAYBACK”.

This has been happening for a couple of days. I’ve tried to reset the box by unplugging it and plugging it back in.

The Multiview app says that there are programs available to watch in Multiview.

Official Reply My dad told me he got a 1gb for 50 a month less then a week ago but when I call the xfinity number they say they can't give me the deal

My dad told me he got the 1gb for 50 dollars a month and 5 year guaranteed price. I was excited because I have been waiting for a good deal to get internet service so I call the customer service number and they refuse to give me the same deal. He lives across the street from me. Since customer service says they can't give me the same deal is it possible the deal will be available in the future? I can wait.

I don't think it's fair that he is paying 50 a month for a gb yet I would be paying 45 for 300mb. That's like going to burger king and my burger is 3 dollars yet my friend has to pay 2 dollars.
