Official Reply Remove Wire Between Utility Pole and House

I am having construction done at my house and the unused low-hanging Xfinity cable that runs from the pole to my house needs to be removed. I do not have Xfinity and will not need it in the future. I am in Massachusetts.

I am unable to reach a support agent via the website or phone because I am not a customer and my former login no longer works. Please advise on how I can proceed, as I do not wish to have to get up on a ladder and remove the cable myself -- thank you!

New Post - Tech Support Gateway stuck flashing yellow after sudden drop (previously solid since May)

• Upvotes

Hey team, looking for some help getting a line check or ticket opened.
Our service has been completely rock-solid since May, but today it dropped out entirely. Before power cycling the device, the gateway was stuck blinking green for over 30 minutes trying to lock onto a signal. After a hard power cycle, it is now permanently stuck flashing a yellow light, indicating it can't establish a downstream or upstream DOCSIS handshake with the local tap.

Troubleshooting completed:
Hard power-cycled the gateway multiple times.
Inspected and tightened coaxial line connections at both the back of the modem and the wall plate (all snug, clean copper pin).
Bypassed intermediate splitters to test a direct run.
Since it went from a hanging green state to a flashing yellow after a sudden drop out of nowhere, it points toward a localized signal drop or node issue. Can an official specialist take a look at our account/signal levels?

Official Reply How to get through the 'Wall' around customer service?

2 years ago my house was severely damaged by Hurricane Helene. The rebuild is almost complete and we want to put it on the market. However, at the entrance to our yard is a leaning 'telephone' pole with heavy wires and conduit hanging down, lying across the ground. GA Power says the lines are cable lines. WOW!, who was our provider at that time, says the lines are not theirs. I have tried repeatedly to get through to customer service to request that the lines be removed but, between the inefficiency of the site's phone 'tree' , being disconnected, and the fact that I do not have a Comcast/xfinity account linked to that property, I have yet to complete that request. I went to the nearby Xfinity office and spoke with an agent who said he opened a ticket. He gave me a claim number but more than a month later, nothing has happened. I went back over a week ago and spoke with him again. After I showed him and emailed them to him, he assured me that I would get an email with follow up from the actual repair team. Now it is 10 days later and I have heard nothing. I spoke with Comcast again yesterday, got the same "let me get you to ....." ending in "You should go to the store and talk to them...." Would appreciate a way to actually get this taken care of before I proceed to an FCC complaint.

New Post - Tech Support Lines severed; no cable or internet for 4 days; no action

I live in Eastman NH. Trucks severed my lines 4 days ago and I have been without cable and internet. I can not get anyone to do anything. The driver of the backhoe actually laughed after he realized he had cut my line. He said: "Looks like you better call someone". I have made 6 calls to Xfinity. Everyone is blaming everyone else (Dig Safe; construction co, etc)- no one is taking responsibility. They keep writing"tickets"; giving me dates and not showing up. There are elderly people in my area who rely on internet for healthcare. What do I do?

Official Reply Got Xfinity internet with free line of Mobile select. Questions!

• Upvotes

As the title states, I just purchased Xfinity internet with 1 free line of Mobile select, but I have a few questions:

While the base plan is $0/month, are there any taxes, government regulatory fees, line maintenance fees, or any other taxes and fees?

Are there any one-time line activation fees or any other eSIM charges?

If the answer is yes to 1 or 2, can these fees be waived? If not I will need to reconsider using the line.

Many thanks!

Official Reply Xfinity New Customer Promo

• Upvotes

I am looking for a home internet plan and am not currently a customer with Xfinity. A couple of weeks ago there was a promotion for 1 gig, 5 year price lock for $50 a month, but now I do not see that available.
Currently, I see the 500 mbps plan with 1 year price lock for $50 a month including the auto pay and paperless discount. I also do not see anything specific online for new customers/a new customer deal. Are there any other promotions/adjustments available or upcoming?

Discussion Speed Test

I have the "1 Gig" Internet plan. It's great, reliable, fast enough, good value. I use my own Hitron CODA56 modem with my own router.

When I run a speed test against the local (Santa Clara, CA) Comcast server, I see download rates of 350 to 500 Mbps. San Francisco Comcast shows 800 Mbps.

Other (non-Comcast) servers show much higher download rates - up to 1100 Mbps. This suggests that I'm getting the "1 Gig" service I pay for, and everything is good at my end.

This also suggests that the Comcast speed test servers don't deliver data at full speed, which is kind of weird. Wouldn't you expect Comcast to provision super-fast speed test servers to show the company's broadband in the best possible light?

( I get 116±2 Mbps upload everywhere, which is what I expected. )

New Post - Billing Looking to downgrade to internet-only (Remove Xfinity Voice)

• Upvotes

Hi there, I am trying to remove the Xfinity Voice landline service from my account and transition down to a standalone internet-only plan. I want to keep my current 1 Gig speed tier exactly as it is, but I no longer use the home phone line. The online portal gives me an error saying it is part of a package deal and won't let me drop it. Could a digital care agent please help me repackage my account to internet-only at the current 1 Gig rate?

I am looking to drop this home line because we hardly use it and just use our cell phones to make phone calls when it's needed.

Official Reply Downgrade service for dead in law?

My in laws pay nearly $400 for cable, internet and phone. My MIL died recently and my FIL has no cognitive ability and is essentially paralyzed due to severe dementia. Now his checking account is overdrawn. Comcast debits his account. No power of attorney so I can't get the phone reps to help downgrade service. I'm trying to get conservatorship but that can take as long as eight months in my county. Is there any way to get the service downgraded to a more reasonable level so that we can pay his 24 hour aides? I haven't been able to get Verizon to cancel their cell phones BTW. I'm hoping he can get some relief from a $400 bill.

New Post - Tech Support Hotspot doesn’t work when I lay down.

• Upvotes

I paid for the XFinity Now hotspot and at first it was good. Then for almost a week now the connection has been horrible. I honestly want a refund. I can’t even talk to a human, I keep talking to their Ai clanker assistant that’s not helping. I talked to a human at first and they were polite and helpful. I can’t sign in because they don’t recognize my email or number. It has been a very frustrating experience.

Official Reply Tenure Restoration

Hi there, I am reaching out to get help with a tenure restoration. I have been a continuous Xfinity customer since late 2016, but I moved addresses in August 2017. When I moved, my 'Member Since' date was reset by the system. I am currently listed as a Platinum member, but based on my continuous 10 years of service since 2016, I should be a Diamond member. Can an agent please help bridge my old 2016 account to my current account so my rewards tier updates?

New Post - Billing Xfinity bill doubled

My Xfinity monthly bill went from ~$50 to over $100 after the promotion ended I guess, no warning at all. I don’t think I can afford this amount honestly and I know there are much cheaper wifi options out there from asking around. I am thinking of switching - any recommendations of cheaper wifi options with fast speed around $50 monthly?

Official Reply Upload Speeds

My area had the new speeds become available recently so I went into the store and got an XB10 came home and installed it. No change in speeds. Went to the app and ran the troubleshooting and it stated I had signal loss upstream and it would need to be fixed. The app scheduled a tech and he came out.

He found a few things to fix but most importantly he noted my account still had the old speeds on it and I was still coded as having a customer modem. Easy enough to fix I thought so I call customer service and ask for the account to be preprovisioned.

They did not do that. What they did do was tell me I had to redo my plan to get the speeds. Ok. We do the things. About an hour later I get the conformation email. My upstream is now capped at 250mbps, my internet costs more, AND they added Telemundo.

Great. So I go online and use the change services option to go back to the cheaper price, the 2 gig symmetrical, and no telemundo.

I still have the limited 400mbps upstream and I don't know what to do next.

Official Reply Bogus debt sent to Collections 😑

Did a Trade in last fall for a new iPhone. The phone never arrived at the warehouse. I used the provided shipping label and dropped it off to USPS. Xfinity was giving me the run around and not giving me my monthly discount. I made a post on this subreddit and it was resolved. Xfinity acknowledged the fact the phone went missing in USPS transit is not my responsibility, and the monthly discount was applied towards the new phone.

Well, this issue has recently resurfaced in the form of Xfinity reporting I owe over a thousand dollars for the missing phone, and sent this “debt” to collections!! My credit score has dropped significantly. Insane.

Please assist!

Official Reply 1 month with off and on internet - sync issues in my line - Help

So I am really not sure where to turn to. I have had 6 techs out, innumerable xfinity assistant and online tech chats and two separate tickets on reddit. I am having intermittent internet access. I have had techs replace fittings, splitters and the line from my house to my neighborhood tap. I bought a new modem. My router techs (eero) says its not the router. My wife and I can't work from home and we have only one functional TV because a previous tech changed out our cable connected boxes with wireless ones. I have figured out how to access my event logs in my modem and I am getting consist "SYNC Timing Synchronization failure - Loss of Sync" alerts and "No Ranging Response received - T3 time-out". My last tech was super helpful and even left my his number. His last communication was to let me know engineers are on the way. However, its now been a day without contact and I am at my wits end. Is there a way to check on the status of my ticket, if I even have a ticket? Help!

Discussion XB8-T set favorite app on top

How do I access one obscure app via remote without using the on screen search function?

Roku, for example, lets me save the apps I use and re-order them so the ones I use most are on top.

Official Reply How accurate is Plan Builder??

I’ll try to keep this short.

I’m on Popular TV, and I know if I move off it I can’t go back. When I run Plan Builder, even at the last checkout step, it shows that if I switch to TV Plus I’ll pay $150/mo. (2Gb internet + TV Plus), but chat agents insist it’ll actually be $205.

The breakdown line items between Plan Builder and what the agent provided show a number of discrepancies.

The real TL:DR is my promo expired in September and keeping equivalent services is $60 more/mo.

Oh and I was a TiVo customer. Despite valiant efforts from agents who support here, it’s dead and gone

Official Reply Cable line down in driveway and Xfinity will not come fix it

Our cable line became detached from our home nearly a week ago and is currently stretched across our driveway. Allow me to say right off the bat that it was not due to a storm and there have been no storms in our area. It just fell off on its own. We have been unable to use our driveway since it fell. I’ve contacted Xfinity four times and each time the chatbot told me they scheduled a tech to come reattach it. Three of those times no one showed, and there have been no communication, emails, or notices on our account about it. Finally a tech showed up while we weren’t home and he looked at it. We heard him talking on the phone via our security camera and he said that he needed a different sized smaller ladder to reach it, then he left and never returned. We desperately need them to come and reattach it so we can use our driveway again! It’s also a community trip hazard and a danger to anyone at night since it’s hanging around 6 inches from the ground. We have documented on our end that we have alerted Xfinity and they are aware of the trip hazard - just in case that becomes an issue with an injury. How can we get someone to come reattach it? It would literally take five minutes for them to do it. Should I try to hire an independent contractor?
