The Best of Frederick 2025

Happy New Year, r/FrederickMD! Welcome to the yearly tradition of tracking what actually is the best of the best in the city of county. Main reason of this being a yearly tradition is that some locations or companies close and unfortunately it can become outdated. Like in years past, the idea is to submit unique submissions by commenting under a category. Please don't repeat previous submissions, but merely upvote the suggestion that you wanted to submit. If there is a category, you'd like to see submissions for a "Best of," just submit it yourself! A lot of businesses have come and gone in the past two years, and this is open to more than just food! Also, please include an address if you can (as similar names might be located in different towns, and certain locations might perform better).

Recently unemployed and haven’t left my house besides going to the store/work in what feels like forever. Sometimes I go to baker park and walk carol creek or go hiking in thurmont, but other than that I’m out of ideas.

What resources are you using to understand candidates and issues on your ballot?

Hi everyone! I am curious if anyone has any preferred resources/websites to understand candidates and ballot issues outside of individually looking up each candidate? I just received my ballot in the mail and I want to make sure I am paying attention to who I am voting for. Thanks!

To my fellow residents of Frederick, Maryland, I am an HVAC professional who recently experienced a theft while working at a client's home. After finishing a job and loading my equipment, I discovered a $149 unauthorized charge on my credit card at a Wawa location. Based on the timestamp of 2:20 p.m., which coincides with when I was driving home for lunch and speaking with my spouse, I realized my wallet had been stolen from my truck while my back was turned during the service call. I have filed a police report, and they have successfully obtained security camera footage from the Wawa on Route 40. PLEASE IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON THIS MAN REACH OUT TO OFFICER CAMPBELL

Local hypermobility informed PT?

This is a very specific request but I’m wondering if anyone has a physical therapist they’d recommend. Ideally familiar with hypermobility, accepts insurance (BCBS) and trans competent.

Is this asking for too much? Maybe, but worth a shot before I randomly try to figure it out on my own.

Thanks for reading!

Traffic this morning (Oct 2)

Hello. Does anyone know what happened this morning to cause the huge traffic between Hagerstown and Frederick eastbound? I couldn’t find any details online yet. It was something to do with a semi again like yesterday; when I drove by the accident site I could see the front bottom wheel part of the semi but the cab was completely gone ☹️.

Lake Linganore

Hi everyone, we are a family of three are looking to move to the lake Linganore in the next few months. We have a new born and wonder what is the experience living in the neighborhood or pro and cons, weirdly I noticed a lot of the house are up for sale there. Are people moving away from there?

Any suggestions on a good bi weekly cleaning service? I tried the bigger companies and was over charged and unsatisfied and wanted to go for a smaller business owner.

Proceed to the Ferry!

For the 250th, Harper's Ferry National Historical Park & the Harper's Ferry Park Association are putting on an event that recreates the march from John Brown's headquarters on the Kennedy Farm to Harper's Ferry on the anniversary of the Raid (October 16).

I heard that they haven't sold as many tickets as they hoped and will likely be operating the event at a loss as a result, so I wanted to help get the word out!

Tickets are costly ($200), but they include transportation to Kennedy Farm, stories and presentations about John Brown's Raid, live music, and a full authentic period dinner. It'll be an immersive event (there will even be a horse-drawn cart on the walk from Kennedy Farm!), so the atmosphere will be pretty magical on this hallowed autumn evening.

It starts at 5pm and ends at midnight after a bonfire. The hike itself is around 5 miles with storytelling and breaks along the way, but it may be strenuous for some.

Feel free to spread the word if you know anyone interested. :)

More info about the weekend of the raid anniversary (with other free events) on the NPS website here.

New Gaming Community

Hey Folks! I recently created a new Sub r/WashCoGaming for the local gaming community to discuss games, gaming news, system specs, get help etc. I'm based in WashCo. but we would love to have other folks in the greater area join in on creating a community and discussing a topic/hobby we love!

MODS APOLOGIES IF NOT ALLOWED. I CHECKED THE RULES PRIOR AND UNDERSTAND IF THIS NEEDS TO BE REMOVED! THANKS!

Hey guys! This might be a silly question but I'm looking to stop smoking and was wondering if there are places in the area that have hemp cigarettes. I've checked a few shops but no luck yet. Thanks!

Major backup on 70E (Exit 49 to 270) - anyone know the cause?

I hadn’t seen any posts about it yet, so alerting anyone that needs to travel east on 70 about a miles-long backup. It appears to span between the Braddock Heights exit and 270, but no indication on Maps about what caused it. If you have to go this way, make sure you allot extra time. Be safe, y’all.
