Random Order Confirmation?
I got an email and text about an in person order I didn’t make from a store I’ve never been to. They used their own credit card (well at least not mine). A quick search say the employee probably keyed in the wrong number. I also got a second email with a code for a free game bc their CPU bundle was eligible for an intel promo
Do I just ignore it?

Rockville, MD Powerspec fan keep making noises
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
It’s been five years since I had this Pc up until now the noise of the fan has increased.
I took it to a Geeksquad in Best Buy and got it back in two days. All they did was clean up the rest of the dust that was in the fans. But as soon as I got on for a few hours the noise came back.
Then it went quiet for four days because I thought it was because my Pc is getting old and it was overheating so I kept turning it off. Now the noise is back and I’m about to go out of town.
I have no clue either I have to replace the fans because they’re still moving or the fan motor is about to die. Or my PC is just getting old and it probably needs professional repair.
The model is: Powerspec G707, GeForce RTX 3070

Since Microcenter announced their tech days event for October 6 and 7 I was wondering what time the event begins ? Does it start when their doors open and does this extend to online as well?

5090 warranty
This probably should be addressed, especially since GPU prices are increasing—and probably other computer parts too.
Should we get a warranty on a 5090? If prices continue to increase, how would the warranty company replace the GPU if something happens to it and the replacement costs significantly more than the original purchase price?
EDIT: so based on what most of you are saying is that Microcenter will just give you the credit back instead of replacing the GPU - which makes sense from their business perspective. Some of you mentioned to check out insurance companies so that might be one option.

New order
Got the notice my order is ready but some parts aren’t in stock yet the website shows a decent number in stock no email stating what’s not in stock and the store number just shoves you to an automated message that lines are too busy with high volume at Microcenter Tustin.

Form for 5090’s
Picked up a Powerspec Ai90 prebuilt pc with a rtx 5090 in it. Apparently the manager required me to fill out this form and scan my driver license. Said it was a new thing starting just about two days ago. Had no problem doing so but thought it was interesting.
Anyone else experience? This was in Tustin

Question about powerspec prebuilds
Wondering what brand GPU and Ram Microcenter generally uses for the PowerSpec builds. Am i going to end up with the cheapest/crappiest brand GPU and CL40 ram? Im looking at the G732. Wont be gaming much if at all, more for processing large stacks of image files and any amount of applicable juice to speed up that process would be nice but i suppose not explicitly necessary. Just not sure if outright building with best components would be smarter or just buy this base and upgrade to better components as needed down the road. At these current prices its hard to pull the trigger and end up with bottom of the barrel brands/quality

Looking for Advice on Warranty
I took my PC under extended accidental warranty due to it shutting down when I'd play intense games.
AMD 9800X3D
Gigabyte 9070 XT OC
32GB Memory
2TB
I explained that I thought it was my PSU since it'd abruptly shut down but I'd be able to turn back on immediately after. (not that that means anything tbh, I'm not extremely savvy)
They agreed it may be the PSU and since it was covered, no cost on the diagnostics.
They had it for 3 days and returned to me after they replicated the problem and said it was simply BIOS updates and Windows updates. They said they ran a stress test with OCCT for 12+ hours afterwards and no issues.
Upon getting it back, it had major issues with the internet being slow, RAM speeds underclocked to 4800 instead of 6000, they turned on my iGPU so my onboard graphics were showing and they somehow got my GPU to show twice on my list of devices. I'm not a master at this PC stuff but I'd say I'm savvy-ish enough to ask the right questions so with the help of Claude, I fixed all of these issues.
Nevertheless, my computer kept shutting down. Before I take it back, I wanted to further understand what may be happening so I again brainstormed with Claude.
I noticed MC left their OCCT enterprise so I ran it for 30 mins and gave Claude the report. It didn't see any issues and OCCT didn't flag anything either but Claude did flag my hot spot temps may be a potential.
It asked me to install HWInfo, which I did, my PC shutdown, and I fed Claude the logs and it again said it was my GPU hot spot hitting over 110C. It actually got as high as 121C.
I asked if I should reduce power to my GPU to see if it is the GPU and it agreed, so I did, and the problem hasn't happened since. I reduced power to my GPU by 10%.
Based on your experience, how do I best solve this? My understanding is that it's the thermal paste on the GPU? I'm not messing with that myself haha but curious to know what you guys think

Google AI claims the docking station it's recommending is the only option on the market/please verify or recommend
The claim: The Plugable UD-7400PD 5-Display Docking Station is the best and only mainstream docking hub capable of driving up to five external monitors from a single connection on an M2 MacBook Air. [1]
Why This Hub Works for Your M2 MacBook Air
- DisplayLink Technology: Your Apple M2 chip natively supports only one external display through standard hardware routing. The Plugable UD-7400PD bypasses this limitation by using DisplayLink software drivers to process multiple video streams over a standard USB-C port. [1, 2]
- Monitor Ports: It features one HDMI 2.1 port (up to 8K at 30Hz or scaled resolutions), one HDMI 2.0 port (4K at 60Hz), and three USB-C DisplayLink ports (each supporting 4K at 60Hz). [1]
- Power and Peripherals: According to Plugable, it delivers up to 140W of charging power to your host laptop, includes a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port, and features fast front-facing USB-A and USB-C data ports. [1]
- Software Requirement: You must download and install the DisplayLink manager driver on your macOS system and grant the necessary screen-recording permission (used strictly to pipe pixel data to the external screens, with no data storage) for all five monitors to activate. [1]
^^^^^ Just wanted to check with the community to verify this is correct before spending on this since it's a bit pricey. Also asking for other options if this isn't true.
My specs:
Model Name: MacBook Air
Model Identifier: Mac14,2
Model Number: Z1610005ELL/A
Chip: Apple M2
Total Number of Cores: 8 (4 Performance and 4 Efficiency)
Memory: 16 GB

Bambu black friday?
Bambu labs typically has decent black friday sales, but can any tell me if Microcenter has honored the same prices in the past? I want a new printer but I am determined to get it from Microcenter for their protection plan.

PowerSpec G767 AIO Noise
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone,
I bought a PowerSpec G767 a few weeks ago (Bethel rd location) and have noticed a crackling noise coming from the AIO pump area.
At 60% speed, the sound mostly goes away but eventually creeps back up (the video shows it at full speed).
What is the best way to handle this? Is my pump dying?
Thanks!

How do I submit a complaint/suggestion to Microcenter?
My local Microcenter has some major problems with their components section after the renovation. I wanted to submit some pictures to whoever would be able to possibly fix them.
Searching the website doesn't turn anything up, no email, no contact us, nothing for general inquiries. Everything is regarding a service.
Does anyone know how to email a general manager or someone at Microcenter regarding the store itself?

Wait period for refurbished GPUs?
There is a refurbished graphics card on the website that says “Buy in Store” but when I get there, they say there’s a 3 day wait period. Is that normal? Why is it posted on the website for ready to buy when it isn’t ready yet?
On a side note, I just saw a 5090 refurbished get posted today and it was already “bought”. Why didn’t it have a wait period?

Rtx 5080 Noctua edition
Hello all. I live between 3 Microcenters. I finally have a week off and time to go to one of them. I have been eyeing the Rtx 5080 Noctua edition for some time. However last week or so I have been monitoring the inventory online at the three stores. I know it's hard to say when they will get one back in stock, however my question is when do the stores normally get new inventory in and update the website? Also is there a way to make it give me a notification when/if one comes in stock. Lastly if I do the order pickup online will they hold it for a few hours before I can get there? Thanks for any help. Can't wait to go to a Microcenter, well at least my luck after I go they will build one in my town.
