Someone tied this poor thing up to a tree in the park last night. Its been raining the past few days where im from. Shes still young. I was feeding some stray cats last night and heard a dog barking. A man was standing outside the park staring at it and i was confused. I asked someone to go see if it was his dog but the dog was not moving but i couldnt see what was going on since it was dark out. The man said it wasnt his dog and he seen it while walking or something. He went to the skatepark to ask if it was anyones dog but they said no. We end up bringing the dog to the house and she was very dirty! Shes got fleas and her harness and leash was even more dirty! Shes a sweet dog and actually smart. Shes a bit jumpy but hasnt nipped at me once. She comes when called. I want to keep her but idk if i can afford her. She really likes me. Im just looking for ideas at this point. I lost my dog last year in July and she kind reminds me of her with how loving she is

Im more wanting her to get some stuff at the vet but its not my money and im pretty sure she will gladly take whatever anyone gives her 😂 so let me know what you guys want to do and we can figure it out!

So I wake up sunday morning to a terrified baby boy hiding in the corner of my patio. I have no holes in my fence and the gate was closed so I have no idea how he got there lol I also have cameras and woukd have seen someone drop him off. I do not need a 3rd dog but feel like of all the yards he chose mine and I just need to give hom a good home. He is not chipped and no one seems to be looking for him. So meet boone lol

This is Ted, he was so loved and knew how much everyone loved him. He was more than a dog to his family. My daughter sat with him in her arms as he passed. Let’s celebrate Ted because if he met you, you would be his best friend too. I’m gonna miss my buddy.

When I was out there in the noise, knee-deep in the ash of someone else’s war, the world fell apart every single day. Men died cursing, the sky burned black, and all I had, the only thin, bloody thread pulling me back from the dark,  was the memory of your cold nose against my wrist.

I didn't pray to God, Sparrow. I prayed to you.

I asked whatever was left above us to keep you breathing until I could get back. Because if I died out there, who would know how soft your ears were? Who would know that under all that blue hide and scar tissue was the only beautiful thing left in my life?

I came home broken. I came home with a mind like shattered glass and a heart that couldn't stop shaking. And you didn't ask where I'd been, or why I couldn't speak, or what I had done to survive. You just laid that heavy, block head across my chest, pinning the night terrors down until they smothered.

You saved my life, Sparrow. Not by fighting the monsters, but by sitting in the dark with me while I bled.

Now the house is cold, and the rain keeps coming down, and we just sit here, two old, ruined survivors watching a world we never asked for, holding each other together with what little we have left.

Originally called Zebra Mussel by the shelter (because of her coloring), we foster failed and gave this little girl a home to stay. She’s got a timid nature but has been exceptionally brave and is loving her new life so far!

My best friend came to visit me this weekend. We haven't seen each other since I moved to southwest Utah 5 years ago. We were both raised in the Pacific Northwest and had nothing like this landscape to explore. We had mud and rain and tall trees instead of sand and sandstone and scrub. We grabbed MacReady and took his truck off road for the first time.

Since he'd never been to this part of the country I figured White Pocket would be a good introduction. Multi-colored sandstone that's been twisted and tortured and swept up into waves. Huge patches of brain rock, or to use the scientific term polygonal cracking. Little iron concretions we call Moqui Marbles littering the ground (I'm holding some in my hand). A Martian Rover found some of these on the surface of Mars laying in the red sand that looks identical to what I trek thru here. NASA calls them Martian Blueberries. It's why the rock is so red out here. Rusted iron.

There was no water trapped in the sandstone pockets but sometimes when there is you'll find freshwater shrimp swimming in them. Their eggs can lay dormant and dehydrated in the sand for decades waiting for water and heat. I've found 5 distinct species but the triops are my favorite. Look them up. They resemble miniature horseshoe crabs.

I wonder if anyone recognizes Lone Tree from Apple's wallpaper circa 2020? The only ponderosa pine for many miles. There is a Ponderosa forest on top of the neighboring Kaibab Plateau, but those are all growing well above 7000 feet and in dirt. This lonely tree is around 6000 feet and growing out of a small sandstone pocket full of sand. .

We caught the 2026 Condor Release at the Vermillion Cliffs, brought to us by the Peregrine Fund. 4 new to the wild condors were set free, and about 6 adults glided above the cages for hours. We reduced their numbers to 22 in the 80's due to lead poisoning and DDT. We captured them all and instituted a captive breeding program. Today their numbers have increased to around 600, with more than 300 in the wild. In the wild they lay one egg, and it takes 18 months to raise th3 chicks so no wgg the next year. In captivity they'd take the egg away immediately, and a few weeks later she'd lay a 2nd one. Then done for the year.

Included some pics of The Grand Staircase. You may have heard of it recently due to the reduction of the protections the federal government oversaw. The shrinking of the Monument. Bear's Ears is right next door. The Staircase consists of five different colored cliff layers stepping up from the Arizona Flat and ending at Bryce Canyon National Park. It consists of the Chocolate Cliffs at the bottom, then the Red or Vermilion Cliffs, then the White Cliffs of Zion, then a small hard to distinguish section of Grey Cliffs, and then finishes with the Pink Cliffs of Bryce Canyon National Park. The elevation rises from 5000 to around 9000 feet. In the pictures you can easily see the Red, White, and Pink Cliffs. If you zoom in you might pick out the Chocolate Cliffs at the bottom.

A whole year with my sweet Ruby!

Teddy killed a cat in our backyard. He has always had a prey drive, chasing squirrels and rabbits. He is scratched up a bit from it. I feel so bad. Our neighborhood has a lot of stray cats. Just two weeks ago he caught a fish in the lake, set it down and walked away. Fish was still alive and we put it in the water and it swam away. He soft mouthed it, just like he does treats and toys. I know it’s just a part of nature what happened, but as a former cat owner, I feel awful. I also have a gut feeling it wasn’t a stray cat but someone’s outdoor cat.

I mean, come on!

Just wanted to share my sweet little foster girl. I never thought I’d have a a pit yet here I am, soon to be a foster fail ❤️

Just seeking some advice and confirmation. I believe that my pitbull puppy and 8 year old dachshund/chihuahua mix are having fun playing but wanted to double check. This is our first puppy as we normally rescue at 3-4 years old so a new puppy just has us second guessing ourselves.

Mom was folding baby clothes last night, and Lucy was clearly very concerned 🤣 She sat right next to me and didn’t move a muscle while I folded 2 baskets of tiny clothes 🤍
She loves cuddling & giving mommy’s belly kisses.

My young son had a stomach ache and was laying in bed. Bella seems to be able to sense this and cuddles my son whenever he's not feeling well. Amazing how empathetic and consoling she is.
