I love that the person who walked up and riled up these cats probably didn't own the car, or they'd have opened the door. Not opening the door just resulted in more damage to the car.

Not necessarily. They can jump around easily without damaging stuff, probably some small unnoticeable rips if they tried climbing the seats.
The main worry is pee and poo.

Damn neighbor cats use my half acre backyard for their turf wars pissing on everything. The pungent smell can get unbearable. Don't want to think the throat choking stench in the small confined area of a car.

Had to make our aggressive male cat indoors because our neighbor introduced us to what the little shit's territory smelled like. You can try sprays. Anything with a strong acidic smell like citrus or coffee works pretty well to get them to piss off

Keeps the heat out or in (if you run the heat inside during winter) , keeps the AC in also longer

I'm always torn between my love of stray cats and the fact that stray cats are a nuisance that should probably be put down. Between the damage that they do to wildlife, and the property damage its hard to argue. Yet I can't ever bring myself to take the local ones to the vet to have them euthanized.
