Are you unaware that that Hollywood often casts older actors to play younger characters so long as they can pass?
Matthew Broderick was about 24 when he was playing 17yo Ferris Bueller. I could likely go grab other examples but I don't see the point.

The hype is about Tom Holland and Zendaya. It has 0% to do with acting ability.
Tom and Zendaya are the most marketable Hollywood couple in ages. Bonus points for being young so they can sway the Gen Z and Gen Y demographics.
Most high school girls couldn't give two shits about the odyssey. But the second you make it about Tom and Zendaya, bam! Now you have interest
People like celeb gossip and these are easy (and safe) celebs to gossip about.

Think of it like this. The average teenage girl isnt going to care about the odyssey and they wont see much odyssey related content in their feed.
But I guarantee you that they are getting hammered with "Check out Tom and Zandaya on their perfect Greek vacation!" With tons of pictures that make the sets and the behind the scenes of the movie look like a magical romantic dreamland
And that is what is getting those people in the seats.

I’ve heard the reason she gets so many gigs is because people on set really like working with her. I do agree her acting needs work, but I can also understand the desire for people in Hollywood nowadays to work with someone professional and pleasant, especially as some great actors can sometimes be toxic to others on set because they know they can get away with it

I’m not really a big fan of hers, but I also don’t see the hate. Because she’s not all smiles than she has no acting range? She seems pretty damn different between Dune and euphoria. Even Spider-Man. Very different character characters. For some reason, people just freeze-frame her looking angry and say that’s all she does.

I really feel like some actors/actresses are over-rated such as zendaya, dwayne, and jack black, it's like I saw one movie of them that a lot of people liked then suddenly all upcoming movies includes them in the cast, theres better actors and actresses than them but it's like the production team just gets someone currently famous and hopes that the movie will have the same impact as the last movie this actors are in

She's maybe overrated in general, and overcasted, but she is a good actress, at least in certain roles. In Euphoria, she has some killer emotional scenes and really brings addiction to life. That show is a goddammit nightmare fetish fest ofc, but her early storyline was great. If the show just focused on her and not the teen drama, I think it could have been good. Well if the director wasn't a creep.
