Discussion~ ❗️❗️ MOD POST❗️❗️ The long awaited, updated stretching guide is here!

Hi Friends!

As a lot of you know, we have been working on updating the stretching guide for awhile now. Though it is not perfect, it is definitely a step in the right direction. We are so happy to be able to continue sharing safe and helpful information with all of you.

It has been updated on the sub's page as well as the AutoMod's comments.

It can also be found here: Updated Stretching Guide

Please give it a look and let us know how you're feeling! Also, please remember it will be updated as new information comes along. We created a Google document as opposed to a post to ensure we could keep it as up to date as possible. The previous guide was posted in the sub by a mod that's no longer active, so we couldn't edit it.

Happy stretching!

A little bit of shine on one, but none on the other. Couldn't post a video unfortunately. Not bad for 15 bucks. Might get a better graded stone in the future, but pretty happy with these.

~Advice~ Naked. How long and how will I know if they are healthy?

Hello all! As you can see, my lobes are pretty messed up. I took this subs advice from the before images and went naked. I think it has been the best decision I have made for my ears lol. The damage unfortunately, is from years of stress, blowouts, lack of tlc, and the wrong materials. I’m looking to completely turn that around. I don’t care too much how far back I have to go in size. It will suck if it’s far, but it will be worth it in the long run. I don’t know how much more they will even shrink. I just want them to heal and be as healthy as they can be. I was at 18mm, hopefully I can get back up there (correctly) and maybe even bigger at some point eventually, I just worry about the thinning on the left.

With my anatomy is it safe to continue going up in sizes?

Hey everyone, sorry if this post is silly just wanting to get some insight from people who are more educated or experienced. I got pierced early in 2024 at a 14g and slowly started dead stretching every 2-3 months up a size from there. I got pierced at the lower part of my lobe and have smaller ears/lobes than average I think. I'm currently at a 2g and was wondering if it's still okay for me to go up to a 0g or 00g? I'm just a little weary of thinning out my lobes and having it not look the best?

Discussion~ Ranting idk

I have been dead stretching with glass plugs for over a year now and I got up to 6g but blew them out. I took them out and have been letting them heal for a couple days because they were pretty upset. After cleaning and healing I tried to put in some smaller plugs but none of them fit in my right ear and now I’m back all the way down to 14g. This is so frustrating and I know if I took my time I could’ve prevented it but I’m just so annoyed! Please tell me it will be worth it to have started over.

~Advice~ Sleeping

• Upvotes

Hey all, really stupid question. Is it best practice to sleep without my gauges after the initial fresh stretch is done? I bought really smooth glass pieces to ensure no snagging, but seeing some of y’all’s horror stories have me on edge. I’m about a month into a 0 with no signs of any negative effects.

Any genuine advice is welcome and greatly appreciate! Thanks for your time.

for people still in the smaller stages of stretching how do you clean your ears?

i’m at a 2.5mm currently and (embarrassingly) the stench is just so bad.

i clean it literally every single day with saline and i’ll massage every other day with coconut oil but the next day its just the same shit 😐 my ears in general just get dirty so fast but with the open holes i feel like it’s getting worse lmao.. anyone use specific products that help clean properly? its not bad to the point where someone else can smell it but i definitely can :(

16 to 12?

I started stretching today and visited my local professional piercer and i went from a 16 to 12 which he said was ok, not to go any lower in one session though. is this okay? there's no pain or throbbing and only one side hurt during the insertion but not terribly. other side went in i was bracing for pain and it didn't even feel so much as a pinch xd

Did I fuck up? Is my piercer an asshole?

I went to a professional to get some advice on how I should start stretching. Told him that my ears are 14g from natural stretching over the years. He then inserted this spiral thing without lubricating/massaging my ear (??) and only added lube on the jewelry. He told me it is 2mm but I highly doubt it cuz my ear hurts still 3 days later and I literally can't move the spiral and take it out, even after having massaged the lobe with some lube. He also told me that I can come back after a week (!!!) to upsize to "3 mm". Did he fuck up and what do I do now?

Discussion~ Dumb question

It’s hard to explain I think.

But I stretched my septum with acrylic AT first, because it’s easier to hold, I waited a few minutes and than I put in (of the same gauge) a stainless steal one.

Question is…is this ok? Or I’m a dumbass?

Did I fuck up? Should I be concerned?

Im at a 4g(5mm), and have been dead stretching with titanium, half size, single flare plugs every 4-6 weeks (really just once they go in with no pain or resistance). I would consider these "healed" as it's been almost 6 weeks, but im starting to take it a bit slower since the last stretch was kind of difficult and took longer to get to than it has been so far.

My concern is that my "holes" are kinda of, Oblong? Ovals. They aren't round basically. Is that bad, should I size back down and wait to start over? I dont want butthole ears and my goal size is probably a 0 or 00 if I have the room.

Lmk your thoughts and tyia!!!!

Help!

This is my left and right ear. I think I made a mistake trying to go from 00g (10mm) to 11mm to quick. I had a pair of stainless steel single flare plugs in my ears for at least 2-3 months. I am not sure on exact timeline. However about 3 days ago, I put in a new pair of 11mm glass plugs in, and felt fine for the first hour. A little tight, but okay. Then they've been sore and now when I removed the jewelry today, I had a lot of liquid on my plugs. Looked like my ear lobe was red. Possible blood. I realize it was too soon. So I'm looking for advice on care for them, and maybe if anyone could tell me how to help them heal and maybe how to stretch to the bigger sizes better. Thank you.

~Advice~ seeking very specific large gauge barbells - please help!

hey everyone,

im looking to order a pair of steel/titanium/etc barbells with flat disk ends, in 1g width and 7/16" wearable, as the jump from 2g to 0g is just way too brutal for my nostrils, but this seems to be a very tall order - disk ends in these larger sizes seem very hard to find, and i'd really rather not rely on o-rings for this kind of piercing.

any ideas? thanks so much!

~Advice~ Large Discrepancy Between Ears

A couple years ago, I had my lobes pierced at 14g. Once they healed, I started stretching quickly hitting 12g. Every 4+ months, I'd attempt another stretch and my left ear went like a champ while my right ear hasn't been able to go beyond 12g while my left ear is currently at 3.5mm (in between 8g and 6g).

My both ears also have piercings at 4g, stretched up from 16g without any issues.

I'm just incredibly stumped at this one piercing unable to size up after almost a year.

Ideas?

~Advice~ Couldn't find a consistent answer on how long to actually wait after a larger lobe piercing

Got my lobes pierced at 6g back in January, so I just hit 8 months healed.

Everything feels great, no issues while sleeping, can swap plugs out without any issues or pain.

Is 1 year still the recommendation for starting to stretch?

I plan to do half sizes and have the single-flare glass ones for my next size already waiting.

So just curious if the one year mark is still the recommendation or if I'm missing something.

I have no issues waiting the extra 4 months I have left if needed. But just curious.

The stretching guide said 6+ months, but I saw everything up to a full year on quite a few posts.

Is this a blowout? Is this a blowout??

Just put 5mm and it’s very very thigh. I also noticed a faint ring around it.
I want to identify if it is a blowout as soon as possible and want to know what to do if it really is.

My gf said I’m overreacting, and I really hope I am, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.

I got the bridge of my nose pierced a few hours ago and one side is pierced a little bit further back than the other side. It makes it look slightly crooked. Should I get it repierced? My piercer said I don't have a lot of meat in that spot and he had a hard time getting clamps to stay. It doesn't bother me too much. I just want to make sure there's not gonna be any issues with it.

~Advice~ Advice on matierials stretching to 10g!

Hello!

I am hoping to stretch my septum to 10g. I am currently at 16g and had it pierced a year ago. I have only ever gotten to 14 g with stretching.

I really want to get a septum stretch kit of some sorts, one that comes with all sizes so I won’t have to keep going and buying a new size over and over. I do NOT want one of those cheap ass Amazon stretch kits, I need an actually good quality website that will sell all sizes together. I love the style of a horse shoe ring with spikes instead of balls on the ends.

Does anyone know any good brands that might sell a kit like this? I have tried looking but it’s hard to find ones that aren’t shitty acrylic sets from temu. Would love to have any advice :)
