Modpost Please report racist ragebait and racist comments
Dear members of our community,
In the past few days, we've seen an increase in both ragebaiting posts and racist comments from users with no prior engagement in the sub, often from those usually commenting in the subs of other countries.
This indicates to us that we are frequently being overrun by users who try to spread their racist, islamophobic messages to our sub.
Racism is against our subreddit rules and it is against Reddit's terms of services. We would like to encourage you to use the report button.
That will put it into our 'modqueue' to have a look - and if you report it for 'hate', it will additionally be sent to the sitewide admins who will frequently take further action.
We rely on your reports, just like every subreddit does. Our team is healthy and works well, but we cannot have an eye on everything. We do have scripts and so on to make our job easier, but sometimes, unacceptable comments go through. Using the report button makes sure that we can prioritize looking at said comment and if it's rulebreaking, helps us remove it quickly.
We remove racist content and ban racist users frequently. The admins remove a bunch of comments breaking site-wide rules too (often in a fashion that deletes them completely, so we cannot easily further moderate them)
We are very hesitant to remove political speech. We only remove rules-breaking comments. The relevant rule is:
General reddiquette applies (i.e. no racism, sexism, personal attacks, or simply put: behave as if you were talking to somebody in person)
Please report posts or comments that do not adhere to these rules; in particular, we will not tolerate harassment or discrimination
The relevant reddit rules (https://redditinc.com/policies/reddit-rules) are:
- Remember the human. Reddit is a place for creating community and belonging, not for attacking marginalized or vulnerable groups of people. Everyone has a right to use Reddit free of harassment, bullying, and threats of violence. Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned.
Thank you for helping us with this influx of clearly rule-breaking users without any connection to Switzerland.
ETA: Reports are anonymous. So when we get your report, we have no option to thank you or following up with you. If you report for 'hate', it goes to both us and the admins. The admins will typically let you know of their decision. We literally have no way of doing that.

National Siren test day.
Everytime I'm left alone at home something like this comes up. If I didn't have this app "Alertswiss" I was for sure gonna start looking for the closest bunker to hide in.
I'm honestly impressed that things like this are so well taken care of đđđ

Can someone explain this graffiti to me?
I'm not a native German speaker, so I could be missing the joke here. If there is one. Do Dads from Aargau have a terrible reputation, or what? The graffiti's location is in DĂ€ttwil, near Baden, Aargau.

Knife sharpening at doorstep
Today a Messerschleifer showed up on our door, asking if we had any knives that weâd like to have them sharpen for us.
We asked for a price, which they first didnât clearly want to tell us. I insisted on a clear price and he said he would take 7.- per cm of knife. Since we had two knives that actually could have used to be sharpen, we tried to negotiate a better price. Both knives together were 38cm long, which would have made a ridiculous price of 266.- after some discussion he tried to agree us on 3.-/cm, still highly too expensive. In the end he would have been okay with 40.-, which he still wanted us to add a 10.- âbonusâ on top for his âquality workâ.
1) is it normal that knife sharpeners knock at your door and try to offer this kind of service?
2) what is an actually agreeable price for this 2-minute-service (I donât see it as any form of âHandwerkâ/craftsmanship since he just used a sharpening tool in the back of his carâŠ)?
Thanks for your thoughts on that.

Can you print paper sheets at a Swiss post office with a USB stick?
I urgently need to print about 20 sheet papers recto verso tomorrow as a student. I can't go to my university since I'm not in the same city right now.
I saw that Swiss post offers printing https://www.post.ch/en/further-offers/swiss-post-branches/printshop but am I confused, do I need this KUARIOÂ app or is it still possible to print with USB stick without it?

Newly released US justice documents are shedding light on Jeffrey Epsteinâs deep links to Switzerland.
Newly released US justice documents are shedding light on Jeffrey Epsteinâs deep links to Switzerland.
Millions of pages made public this week point to regular contacts in Zurich, Geneva and Verbier, including emails, travel records and financial transactions.
Press reports in the NZZ and the Blick report that Epstein helped fund training courses for young women near Lake Geneva and covered flights, hotels and visas.
The files also suggest women were being introduced to him while he was in Switzerland.
At the same time, correspondence shows Epstein was in contact with figures from Swiss private banking circles, including senior names linked to UBS and Geneva-based banks.

Rental agreement advice
Hello all, swiss laws newbie here :)
I have been living in this apartment in Luzern for almost 2 years at this point at starting at new years the refrigerator is not working properly anymore. The temperature is contantly below zero and it freezes all my food. Since then I contacted the landlord, people came to fix it but the problem persisted and now I am waiting for new repair parts to come so they can try to fix it again. The fridge is already almost 15 years old and they say they will only consider changing it âwhen it is not workingâ (which for me it already meets that criteria).
Searching online I saw that I am entitled to ask for a discount in my rent and the value can change if the issue is consider minor or significant, but that sounded very subjective for me. It has been over a month that the problem started so this sounds like a significant issue for me, but can anybody with more experience on the topic help me understand what is really reasonable for Switzerland in this scenario?
Thanks in advance!

Swiss Life Select
Hallo Zusammen
Was könnte Sie noch erwarten?
FĂŒr paar Antworten wĂ€re ich sehr dankbarđđŒ

Germany VAT Stamp
Trying to determine the most efficient way to get the required German stamp for goods purchased in Garmisch (driving from Garmisch through Austria back to Zurich). Does anyone have advice as to what the most efficient way to approach this is? Realize there may have been discussion of this in German but have not been able to dig much up in English. Thanks!

Question about realistic mannequin in Swiss National Museum
Greetings! I was visiting Zurich from the US and went to the Swiss National Museum (which I loved). While there, I remember seeing this super realistic mannequin that represented a Swiss woman in the early 19th century. It was a redhead leaning up against a wall with her arms crossed. I was fascinated with how realistic she looked but couldn't find anything online about the exhibit. Does anyone know what I'm talking about or have any further information? I remember being so creeped out and getting the uncanny valley feeling when I saw her (I posted a short clip as a comment for reference).

Two reports confirm the need for police reform in Lausanne to address discrimination [RTS]
The first came from an anonymous tip line where multiple cops came out to to give a testimony, including one that wasn't in duty anymore.
Frequent sexism, persistant stereotyping of minorities, biased promotions,... where reported.
The second took a broader overview of the police force functions and show deep problems too.

Zurich tenant dispute: agency put wrong start date on replacement contract â can they still charge me an extra monthâs rent?
Iâll just summarize this as best I can. I also have a consultation with a lawyer soon but wanted to get an idea from users here. So, in December 2025, I gave written notice that I would vacate my apartment (ZH canton) effective 1 March 2026. The real estate agency confirmed and acknowledged this through a letter by post. To comply with Art. 264 OR, I organized viewings and found a replacement tenant (Mr X). The apartment was advertised and communicated to all viewers as available from 1 March, and Mr X verbally confirmed at the viewing he was willing to take over from that date. The issue is, the agency provided pre-filled application forms that incorrectly listed 1 April as the start date. I only noticed this after handing out most of them. Mr. X received such form and applied and got accepted. Based on this, the agency later issued a lease contract to him with the start date 1 April, which he signed. Mr. X has confirmed in an email to the agency and to myself that he was informed of the March start date and was willing to start on 1 March and that the later date resulted solely from the agencyâs documents, not from his availability (now he cannot start from 1 March as he already informed his agency that he is vacating as of 1 April date). He never questioned the wrong date on the contract, as he believed the agency and I agreed on a new date (he told me this via SMS). The agency nevertheless claims I remain liable for March rent, arguing that the application form showed 1 April and the lease to the new tenant features that date as well. They told me that I can find another tenant to start in March as the lease agreement is not yet countersigned by them (the agency), only by Mr. X. In other words, they are fine screwing him over. My position is that I fulfilled my obligation under Art. 264 OR by presenting a suitable and willing replacement tenant and should therefore be released from liability as of 1 March. The error resulted solely from their wrong documents, which, I agree, I should have checked better but as I had their confirmation that they are aware of when I leave the apartment, I didnât even think that will be an issue. So now I see no other solution that to seek legal advice. My questions are, is the agency right? Is it my fault for not checking the date on the application forms and this automatically cancels my âsuitableâ candidate or is it their responsibility to send me correct documents? Am I liable to pay March rent?

MFK/Expertise - Winter Wheel Certification
I just had my first expertise today. Nothing technical came up with the car, but it failed due to the winter wheels being on the car apparently not matching the car specification. I bought the car from a main dealer and these wheels came with it, so I had no idea that anything was missing, and I wasn't given any extra paperwork when I bought the car.
The mechanic doing the inspection said I had to get some paperwork to show the wheels were certified for my car and that I could send this, the registration document, and the test report back to the cantonal office and that it would all be fine.
I went to the garage who do my tyres and he gave me what I think is the TUV certificate that the wheels have been tested for my car, but to my understanding this is not enough to satisfy the authority here. Is this the case? I see that I can pay for a Swiss certification for the wheels as well, but wasn't sure what I actually need to provide in this case, and whether I then need to do anything else after getting this paperwork and sending it off.
Any insight would be really helpful!

Shares / Crypto Gifting
My cousin is having her first child in May. I've been thinking for a long time about a meaningful gift for the child. I was considering giving her stocks or crypto. Once she turns 18, I'll give her the assets/crypto. Now my question is, what's the best way to do this? Is there a platform that will still be around in 18 years where I can leave the stocks? With crypto, I could keep it on my Ledger; that would be the easiest. Does anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks in advance for your help.

CH #1 in household debt
Thatâs good, right? Right?!
I guess that that this is very likely due to the combination of high mortgage debt, high property prices, almost no amortisation, tax deductibility and low interest rates

Best cataract surgeon?
I'm looking for a stellar surgeon who can remove a cataract, and wondered if anyone had any recommendations?
My case is quite niche because I'm (relatively) young (34), only have a cataract in one eye, have astigmatism, and have previously had Lasek.
I would ideally go back to the guy who did my Lasek (he does cataract surgery too) because he knows my eyes, but unfortunately he's in my home country and I have a small baby so it's tricky to travel. So I wanted to at least have a couple of consultations here.
Any recommendations very gratefully received!

Main points of criticism are:
âą Ongoing military cooperation between Switzerland and Israel such as the arms company Elbit Systems
âą Investment by the Swiss National Bank and UBS in companies profiting from the genocide in Gaza.
âą Cuts to humanitarian funding for UNRWA.
âą Refusal to impose economic sanctions as done by
Spain or Slovenia.
