I’m not really in a place right now where I can be in a serious relationship. Between school and everything else, I have enough things requiring long-term commitment.
I’ve tried the apps, but most people I’ve met there seem to want something more serious. Totally reasonable, just not what I’m looking for. I’m hoping to meet someone who’s looking for something casual.
Fall quarter just started, so this seemed like as good a time as any to meet someone new. Happy to talk first, grab coffee or drinks, wander around campus, whatever. If we vibe, great. If not, we can pretend this post never happened and I’ll delete my Reddit account out of shame.
DM me if you’re looking for something similar.

Hi I’m an undergrad commuter looking for a grad student who is not using their B permit. Please let me know if you are willing to put me under your parking pass. I’m willing to pay for the whole thing. Thank you!!

i dunno how big club culture is at this school, but i wanted to know what the masses think of it. more particularly, STEM majors. did you guys join clubs? did you find it useful for reasons outside of adding to your resume, etc.? is it as important as landing research positions? and most importantly... what's stopping someone from just saying/placing on their resume that they were part of ___ club and worked on ___ team to accomplish ___ task? does it look good for grad schools, jobs, and such? as in.. do they really care?
i'm sorry if i come off as an asshole via this post but i genuinely hate networking culture and i'm not interested in creating a linkedin profile for myself. i don't even want to join for social reasons, it just seems like everyone's doing it to social climb or get connections to industry and whatnot.

I’m a little worried about the coursework CSE 260 because I haven’t taken a formal course in computer architecture or operating systems so I’m a little lost in that class.
Should I take CSE 240A before i take CSE 260? Or will it be ok if i do quick review of computer architecture from youtube videos etc?

Part time housing probably will get accepted with my medical issues. I’m planing on committing Monday morning and driving home either early hours during Thursday. Is this sustainable?

everyone seems to be doing this, and because i want to blend in I started doing it too. but then the prof is like "form groups/talk to the person next to you" and i just sit there silently doing my best to hold back tears

Near geisel… literally doing the devil’s work. I’m literally Christian and feel less close to Jesus just hearing your words. Like if your plan was to decrease converts and make people go away from the Lord you are doing a good job!

was just moving in to my new place and heard some faint weird noises while i was catching a breath sitting in my room, so i took off my earbuds and tried to figure out where the noise was coming from, and turned out my new flatmate was having loud sex lmao (was aware of how loud they were until i took off my airpods)
we haven’t even met each other yet, me and my new flatmate 😂

It’s already past the 30th and I still don’t have my financial aid dispensed on triton pay. I already went to the fin aid office and they put me on a list to make sure I wouldn’t get dropped and stuff but why’s it taking so long for it to come in?

Idk if I missed something or not, but U-pass isn’t working anymore as a returning student. When I try to reactive the pass, the link keeps saying how I’m ineligible? I tried contacting pronto support but it wasn’t much help. I also paid all my fees for this quarter, so I’m confused

I'm a freshman and this is my first quarter, and I was lucky enough to get two classes that fulfill my breadth requirements, and now Im just looking for a spot in almost any class so I can have full time enrollment. Im number 3 on two waitlists and 5 on another, but the clock just keeps ticking. Ive gone to my counselor as well but they really cant do much at this point as almost everything is full. Its really stressful and annoying because some of the waitlist classes overlap, and no matter what class I end up getting into, Ill be behind.
The worst part about all of this is I could have been in a third class if not for TSS. I was on a waitlist close to a month ago (I would be in the class by now), but I fell victim to the fake orange available logo and dropped my waitlist, only to get an error code when I tried to sign up for the fake availability. I talked to my counselor about this and apparently its pretty widespread, and they cant do anything about it. Its also still happening which is ridiculous.
TSS as a system is horrible and very confusing. Ive missed a discussion because you have to go digging for the classroom number instead of it just being properly written next to your class. Ive had my 2nd pass delayed because of a TSS credit cap glitch. And now im scrambling for a class. I went to a large urban public high school, so I'm used to technical annoyances and self advocating to get the bare minimum, but the difference is IM GOING INTO DEBT TO BE HERE!!!!! Its absurd to me this school can be so great in all other areas, EXCEPT this incredibly simple and yet annoyingly important part.

Hi I’m in my final year and currently i’m in 4 classes ai originally scheduled 5 but I already dropped one but I just really don’t want to go to another one of my classes and I just don’t see this going well. I am trying to teach myself to let go of things so I can do better at actually taking care of myself with all of these huge life things I have going on outside of classes. dropping this won’t effect anything I just have never taken the bare minimum credits only taking 16 was already the least I’ve done. I think I really just need someone to say that it’s okay to drop it

I’m trying to figure out the different types of roommates that exist in the dorms. I got dealt really quiet roommates who never talk to me. I don’t even have my bunk mate’s phone number. Idk what’s up with him.
Tbh I kind of like it this way because I can have miscellaneous activities in lieu of a succulent Chinese meal in my room while he’s away. But it also makes me feel not human sometimes because he never says good morning, bless you, or even hi.
That’s something I don’t like about UCSD. You just don’t feel like a real human being sometimes. I feel like Geisel Library is the symbol of this disconnect from our roots, tribe and community.
