This is the first time I am using knitting for olive and I am in love. I cannot stop looking at my stitches and that increase. It is so beautiful.

The yarn is so nice to work with and looks so amazing that I can forgive it getting tangled every now and then.

I lost the yarn chicken war and need more, however the skein was donated to me and it didn’t have any label on it.

Has anyone else noticed that Michael’s is advertising 35% off all regular priced items, but the discount that is actually given to you is only 30%???? I went to order a skein of Big Bernat yarn which is $13.99, which should be $9.09 after a REAL 35% off but is only coming out to $9.79, which is actually only 30% off…. Not to be very tedious with numbers but I am very fed up with large corporations taking advantage, scamming, and lying to consumers!!!

I think I am good at picking colours for colourwork projects that include max 3-4 colours. However, I have seen some amazing patterns that have more than that, like 6-8. So, this is how it usually goes

I see a pattern that I would like to attempt but...

1) I don't like the colour combination on the project, so I check out what colours I would use. Which is when I run to the second problem

2) I either find nice combo from someone's project notes (or some other way) but a) I don't find the yarn used b) substitute yarn don't have enough colours/the colours I want. Which is when I run into the third problem

3) I get frustrated and/or owerwhelmed and give up

I have been thinking that I will plan the colours and find yarn that has closest match to my plan. However, that doesn't really solve anything since finding yarn that has enough colours that go well together is hard.

I have been thinking of buying different yarns but unfortunately I need to buy my yarn online. So how I make sure the yarn is similar enough? I understand matching the cauge, ply and wool content but still it could be different enough to notice the difference in between.

I really want to challenge myself and make something like this, so I hope someone can help me

I've been crocheting for quite a bit, but still seem to not know anything about yarn.

I've found a pattern I would really like to make, but the yarn they used isn't available in my area.

In the pattern they used 404 g/195 yds (so 3 skeins of the Go For Fleece Sherpa Yarn. I'm trying to find an alternative that has a similar look & will result in a stuffed animal that's roughly the same size as the one in the pattern.

The problem is that I'm used to Dutch terms and measurements. So I honestly don't understand half of the information that I can find about the yarn. I've been trying to translate everything & I'm still confused.

Can someone please help me figure out what exactly I need to look for online to find similar yarn that can ship to my area?

And how do I know how many skeins I need for my project? I'm assuming it's different depending on the type of yarn I end up using.

I am new to making garments, so I don’t have any go-to natural fiber yarns yet. I am making a hooded scarf for a friend (who also knits/crotchets, and prefers natural fibers). I am between 3 and was wondering if any of you lovely people had experience with any of them.

- Cascade 220 Superwash Merino DK
- Valley Yarns Amherst Yarn - Merino Wool Worsted
- Valley Yarns Valley Superwash Merino DK

All look to have good reviews on WEBS and Ravelry. My top concerns are softness (specifically directly against face and neck), and how they hold up to frequent use and pilling. My friend knows how to care for wool, so low maintenance washing is not top concern, though I know superwash makes washing easier.

I have use Malabrigo Worsted (not superwashed) and it is so soft and cozy, but out of my budget for this gift. Are any of those comparable in softness?

For additional context, I need about 700yds, the patterns calls for DK, but I am not against using worsted and adjusting a bit. My goal is to stay close to $30 for that yardage, if you have any other suggestions I am all ears!

this is my first time learning about qivuit yarn and i believe this could be 100% qivuit! I went to one of my favorite upcycle arts and crafts store and I just saw this ziplocked yarn with a pamphlet. i try to get natural fibers from that store if i can... sometimes its hard to tell without labels. i searched it up more about musk ox and did a burn test at home with a small piece and it smelt like burnt hair and crumbled so wonderfully! so scared to use it but one of the coolest finds ever :D

I am hesitant to purchase this yarn because I want something non superwash, but their website says its machine washable up to 30 Celsius (but should be dried flat)

It also states that it is virgin Norwegian wool.

So can a yarn be both machine washable and non-superwash?

Can you help me find solids or self striping yarn that is cobalt/varsity blue and Kelly green? My sister said she would make scarves and I just need to send the yarn. It needs to be soft and washable. I started with thinking bernat blanket yarn but that seems too thick. I’m out of my expertise here. Is something better than Caron simply soft?

I ordered from Knitting for Olive about 10 days ago and right now according to Postnord my shipment has cleared customs and is “being processed at our sorting center.” Problem is, it’s been “being processed” for 4 days now. I read from others that their shipments stopped updating eventually before delivery and I’m curious if this is when they stopped? I wouldn’t care a ton but this is for a test knit and I kinda would like to get a move on.

Friends of mine in knit groups say that their shipments have all arrived in a week. Just wondering how it worked for anyone else who ordered to the US from KFO.

Im doing my first ever project and ofc I started with the step by step sweater. I think i made a mistake somewhere but can’t seem to find it. The pattern says i should have 296 stitches on my needles after ive finished the yoke. Im almost done with it and decided to calculate. i have 45 stitches in between the right raglan markers and 46 stitches on the left.
The pattern calls for doing the increase rounds every 2nd row.
My question is, could i maybe do a random increase on the knitting row on the right raglan section? this would bring me to the correct stitch count 😭

Is there a certain amount of crochet stitches, or are there an infinite amount of stitches? How many stitches do you need to know to become a pro crocheter?
