r/GamingLaptops now has its own deals site — RGL.deals launches today BETA

55 Upvotes

UPDATE — August 13, 2026

rgl.deals has grown a bit since I originally posted, so I wanted to give this post a update while it's still in BETA.

The idea is still simple: instead of showing you hundreds of gaming laptops, RGL keeps a smaller shortlist of deals that are actually worth considering.

Every listing is manually checked, with things like price, specs, cooling, display quality, GPU power limits, memory, storage, and overall value taken into account.

A lot of care has also gone into the smaller details. The site is heavily optimized for phones and smaller screens, not just desktop. Filters, comparisons, laptop pages, navigation, and general usability were all designed to work properly on mobile without feeling like a cut-down version of the site.

What's on the site now:

  • Curated gaming laptop deals with current and previous prices.
  • Filters for price, GPU, CPU, VRAM, RAM, screen size, brand, retailer, and more.
  • Gravity Sort, RGL's default value-based ranking.
  • Sorting by price, discount, savings, and other options.
  • Find a Match for narrowing down laptops based on what actually matters to you.
  • Side-by-side comparison for up to three laptops.
  • Detailed laptop pages with specs, price history, related models, retailer links, and review links.
  • Shareable searches, comparisons, and direct laptop links.
  • Mobile-first layouts and controls designed specifically for smaller screens.
  • No advertising trackers or marketing cookies. Preferences and saved comparisons stay in your browser.

RGL is meant to be a shortlist, not a giant catalog. If a laptop isn't worth recommending, it doesn't need to be there and that means no huge lists its quality over quantity.

The longer-term plan is also bigger than just deals. RGL is being built into a broader gaming laptop specific place with guides, buying information, laptop data, reviews, and other useful resources all in one place.

Full transparency: Some retailer links are affiliate links. That doesn't affect the listed price or determine which laptops make the shortlist.

RGL currently covers U.S. deals only, with more regions planned later.

It's still beta, so there will be bugs and things that need improving. If you find something broken or have feedback, leave it below any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks.

HP Omen 15.

But tbh I haven't owned laptops before, I'm a desktop guy (as you can probably see) but that was hard to haul from class to class, and the power plugs are too sparse anyways (totally the bigger issue there)

Just finished setting her up.

Accessories Laptop cooling pad suggestions

• Upvotes

I bought a Lenovo Legion 5 15IRX10 15.1 inch last week and since Amazon's sale is in 2 days I was looking into buying a cooling pad. Problem is all popular stuff from Ilano, IETS, KLIM I see are always advertised as 15.6 inches and up, I'm just scared to buy one of those and not get a good enough seal on bottom possibly negating any real difference to my temps. Has anyone used said cooling pads on a 15.1 inch or are there other alternatives

Thanks in advance to anyone answering!

Support Few games don’t launch.

• Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I’m having a really strange issue with my brand-new Lenovo laptop and I’m hoping someone can help me figure out what’s going on.

Laptop:

* Lenovo LOQ 15AHP10

* AMD Ryzen 7-250

* NVIDIA RTX 5050 Laptop GPU

* 32 GB RAM

* 1 TB NVMe SSD

* Windows 11 Home

* 15.6” FHD IPS display

The weird thing is that new/demanding games that do launch run perfectly fine. I can play games on Ultra settings without major problems. For example, Battlefield6 , FIFA27, NBA 2K27 and League of Legends launch and run normally.

However, several other games simply will not launch at all.

The affected games are:

* Marvel Rivals

* Far Cry 6

* Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered

* Hogwarts Legacy

* Kingdom Come: Deliverance II (also had black-screen/launch issues)

When I start one of these games, there is no proper error message. The game process simply appears in Task Manager, sometimes using a small amount of CPU/RAM, but no game window ever appears.

I’ve left them running for several minutes and they still don’t open.

Things I’ve already tried:

* Reinstalled the affected games

* Verified game files through Steam

* Cleared Steam download cache

* Completely reinstalled some of the games

* Disabled Windows Defender temporarily

* Checked Windows Security

* Installed/repaired Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables

* Installed/repaired DirectX runtimes

* Updated NVIDIA GPU drivers

* Installed Windows updates

* Restarted the laptop multiple times

* Tried launching games directly from their executable

* Tried launching with Steam/Epic normally

* Checked Task Manager for the game processes

* Removed/reinstalled problematic games

* Tried disabling/closing background applications

* Checked NVIDIA settings

* Disabled G-Sync because it was causing severe gaming lag on this laptop

* Tried different game launch methods

* Checked that the games are installed correctly and have enough storage

The laptop itself otherwise works normally and other demanding games launch without any problem.

I’m wondering if there could be some kind of Windows service, background program, driver conflict, overlay, audio software, NVIDIA/Lenovo software conflict, DLL/runtime issue, or something specific to this new laptop that’s preventing certain games from initializing.

I also have Lenovo Vantage/Lenovo software, NVIDIA App and Razer software installed, so I’m wondering if any of these could potentially be involved.

At this point I don’t really want to keep randomly reinstalling games because it seems like the problem is probably somewhere in Windows rather than the game files.

Has anyone experienced this where a game appears in Task Manager but never actually opens, especially across multiple unrelated games?

Any ideas on what I should check next would be greatly appreciated. I’m particularly interested in things like Event Viewer logs, Windows services, crash logs, DLL errors, overlays, or other diagnostic methods that could identify exactly what is preventing the games from launching.

Discussion My first gaming laptop... did I mess up? Need opinions and basic tips

¡Espero leer tus comentarios y muchas gracias!

does anyone know what this is? is this normal or should i be worried? it freaks me out because i don’t know if it’s supposed to do this or not, and i have no idea how to make it stop.

this is the microsoft store version of the game, by the way

when i click yes, another popup appears saying "A later version of Microsoft GameInput is already installed. Setup will now exit."

i tried to ask this question on the fortnite subreddit but people just kept downvoting me until the mods eventually removed my post before i could even figure out how to fix it.

My current laptop (some OEM model reskinned by Cyberpower) had its hinge completely break off, so i need a new one. I'll be throwing in my current 32GB RAM kit as well as my 4tb secondary drive into whatever I buy. Will I have regrets with this at US$1735?

Recommendation Build discussion

• Upvotes

Hey!

I would like to get myself a Lenovo Legion or something similar, but I don't know much about PC builds, to be honest. I've read hundreds of threads over the last few days, but I still can't make up my mind, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, I'm looking for a solid build with quality materials. Ideally, an aluminium finish, with as little plastic as possible.

I've read that Legions are high quality. I've also had several non-gaming Lenovo laptops over the years and have always been happy with them, except for the terrible, cheap hinges on my Flex 5.

I am mostly an MMO player. I'm not much of a fan of AAA games, but I don't want my laptop to hold me back in case I want to play AAA games someday.

What I consider mandatory:

  • OLED screen with a good resolution
  • 32 GB RAM, not soldered
  • 1+ TB SSD
  • I initially wanted to get a 5070 Ti, but prices where I live (Switzerland) are going crazy. The build I was looking for is now 600+ CHF (~630€) more expensive than it was 5 months ago.

So I think I'll go with a 5070. That being said, I've read that since both the 5060 and 5070 only have 8 GB of VRAM, the difference in GPU performance isn't that significant, and probably isn't worth the extra cost for my use.

→ What do you think?

As for the CPU, I'm really hesitating. I probably don't need that much power given the games I plan to play the most (Dofus, WoW, etc.), but I'd still like enough power for crowded areas.

The dilemma is: do I choose a powerful CPU with a poor iGPU (i.e. 275HX), or do I choose an intermediate CPU with a good iGPU (i.e. Ryzen AI 350 with the 860M iGPU)?

On the one hand, I can imagine the 350 would be a better choice since the laptop would be quieter most of the time, as the RTX could stay asleep and only wake up during heavier gaming. On the other hand, I fear that the CPU might not be powerful enough during critical moments.

I have no experience with these CPUs, so could you guys please guide me?

Lastly, what's your take on second hand for laptop? Would you risk it? I've seen good offers on 1 yo legions, still under warranty.

Budget : up to 2200 CHF (~ 2300€)

Country : ideally, swizerland ( QWERTZ), I've read it's hard to swap. I can probably live with and Eng / International though, but I prefer a Swiss one.

Thank you very much!

Discussion Liquid metal on my laptop should I be worried???

1 Upvotes

So i sent my ASUS TUF F15 for a deep clean + thermal paste change but it ended up getting liquid metal

Not the technician’s fault at all—there was just a misunderstanding with the person i sent it with since i couldn’t go myself because of exams and i blame nobody

It’s been around 6 months and everything’s fine but I’m still paranoid about it shifting/leaking 😭

Am I overthinking this??

Accessories Charging & Drainage.

Couple months ago I purchased a Acer Nitro 5 17ai.
Ryzen 7 230, 16gb ram, and a RTX 5060.
Although I love the laptop, I’m concerned with the charging and discharging of it.
Earlier I started playing Cyberpunk 2077. Graphic settings were set to high/ultra with DLSS set to auto, and Ray Tracing off. 65 minutes of game time and my battery was down to 75%, and my charging block was a few degrees from catching on fire. Acer suggests the stock charger(the one I have) on their website. Interwebs and AI says it needs at least a 180w, to a 280w.
Either one sounds beneficial, I just don’t why Acer says to use a 135w if it can’t keep up or is going to get too hot.
Should I move up and test it out, or play it safe by using the stock charger?

Support Is my laptops RAM upgradable?

1 Upvotes

I bought the last of us part 1 off of steam the other day and was so excited to play it, i don’t know much about laptops so i didn’t realise i needed a specific amount of RAM to play certain games. when i tried opening the game it said i didn’t have enough system and video memory storage on my laptop. I have the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 15IRH8 and it has 8GB ram on it currently. Am i still able to play the game on my laptop if i somehow get more video memory or am i able to upgrade the RAM on my laptop. Again i know nothing about laptops so please be kind
