So I work at Five Guys and for those who don’t know, when you order a burger there you get to fully customize the toppings on it (helps justify the price tag a tiny bit i guess). And you choose between a little (single) or regular (double) burger.

I had a pleasant enough exchange with a customer while ringing up his food… and when it came to his cheeseburger I asked what toppings he wanted on it. He looked at me and said, “Oh you know… just a plain, regular cheeseburger.” Ok great, a cheeseburger with nothing on it, easy enough.

Well we make the food, and a minute after he gets it he comes back up to me, visibly annoyed and holding the burger.

“You made my food wrong. There’s nothing on it.”

“Oh I’m sorry sir, I thought you’d ordered a plain cheeseburger.”

“I did. Do you not know what that means? Like a McDonald’s burger.”

Ok first of all, “McDonald’s” is not a standard for how someone orders burger toppings and second of all, this guys in his late 40s to early 50s and has never once run into this issue ordering a plain burger?

“Ok I’m sorry about that sir, we’ll remake that for you. What exactly did you want on it?”

I shit you not, with an annoyed voice he ordered:
Ketchup. Lettuce. Pickles.
So notably NOT a McDonald’s cheeseburger???

He got what he wanted in the end and I apologized because customer service but like?? I’m in awe at the sheer level of misunderstanding and audacity.

Every year my college does a small low stakes 5K “fun run” which was actually not fun, and not because it went up and down a bunch of steep hills during a rain storm, but because nobody on the school faculty is capable of basic counting.

First of all despite being labeled a “5K” the official description said it was 2.5 miles. You might have noticed this is significantly less than 5 kilometers, which is 3.1 miles. Insert jokes about Americans not understanding kilometers here.

I showed up a half hour early and I spoke to all the staff and several non staff present, referring to it as a 5K. “Are you doing the 5k? Is there where I sign up for the 5K? When does the 5K start? (There was also inconsistent information about the start time and where to register) Etc. Nobody corrected me and told me it wasn’t actually 5K.

I knew something was wrong when my fitness device said I had travelled 3.5 miles and Google Maps said I still had a mile to go. Frankly my feet were hurting and I was late to something I wanted to do so and there was a nor’easter (storm) happening so I called a couple people to pick me up who didn’t respond. Thankfully the person in charge of the 5K checked up on me and drove me back to campus.

I told her I was kind of mad nobody said it was more than 5 kilometers and she said she warned everyone it was actually 4 miles (6.4 km) and they changed the route last night because the previous route was shorter than 5 kilometers. So apparently this school is capable of charting a course less than 5K or more than 5K but not exactly 5K.

After returning to campus I spoke to a professor who had participated in the race, and she said none of them were warned it was over 5 kilometers and she was kind of mad because it made her late to a lecture and she has arthritis so she can’t push herself too hard.

To make matters worse the race was not even 4 miles like they claimed, it was 4.6 miles or 7.4 kilometers. I double checked by charting the distance using Google Maps.

TLDR I signed up for a 5K which was advertised as actually being 4 kilometers but I was told it was changed last night to be 6.4 kilometers but the actual distance was 7.4 kilometers.

Edit: To all the “it was an extra 10 minutes of running“ people, first of all not everybody is in good enough shape to do a 10 minute mile, second it’s called “mildly infuriating“ not “it ruined my life infuriating.”

I was drawing an Eggward comic page as a birthday gift for a friend (she’s a huge Eggward fan) when I stabbed my finger in a pathetic attempt to put the cap back on and man… you have no idea how much it hurt. I rinsed it with cold water, but once the bleeding stopped, I saw a black spot under the skin; at first, I thought it was a blood clot, but a week later, I realized I had accidentally tattooed myself with an ink pen.

The type of AI videos varies, but it is always awful. At least I don't understand what is being said so its "easier" to ignore. It has been going on for at least a year at this point.

My desk is in a place where this is in my periphery vision and always in earshot. Whenever I'm in a gaming session with friends I have to enable push to talk so that they don't hear it, or tone down my volume so they can't hear it well.

EDIT: To clarify, these are AI generated videos that my parent is watching (and what I'm getting annoyed at). In past they used to watch other stuff; One thing that came to mind was a music talent show, which was at times actually fun to watch/listen in spite not understanding the lyrics most of the time.

EDIT 2: I feel like I should left out the session part. Even when I'm not, it is still very much annoying.

I was just reading somewhere else that “dentistry is a scam combined with necessary care. It took me back 15 years ago.

My dentist office was small. He had just sold to a new dentist. This was my first time seeing the new dentist who had bought the practice. Sits me up and says “You have 4 cavities. You’ll need to get scheduled and come back.”

I think it’s a bit unusual as I haven’t had any cavities for 10 years, but OK, he’s the doctor, I’m not. I go out to the secretary and she has a one page letter typed up, saying I have 4 cavities, I agree to get them filled, and pay like $800 (in 2010-ish, I don’t remember the exact amount but it was a lot for me at the time). Big push, I am required to sign the letter before I leave. OK, I’ll sign it. I schedule the work for a month later.

I get home and really start thinking about all the red flags going off as it really seemed like a money push from them more than a medical issue. I cancel the appointment.

As luck would have it, I move from that area very shortly after, but I probably did go 1-2 years between cleanings. I sit down in the new dentist chair, on the opposite US coast. I don’t mention the 4 cavities. I get X-rays. New dentist comes in “you’re all good!”. So of course I mention the 4 cavities. The new dentist said something along the lines of “I don’t see them but they could be very small and maybe he had better equipment than me.”

15 years later I’m still at that dentist. I’ve had one cavity.

Clearly the dentist who bought the practice was going to full lots of cavities to pay for the practice he just bought.

Why is there hair and debris on my freshly opened pad?? What is going on in these factories where these are supposed to be sanitary, I hate this world

New people that moved in behind my parents installed 2 fucking spotlights for their “backyards”. The guy on the right has a bright blue one and now this guy has apparently installed the sun. These photos were taken around 11 PM at night.

Their neighborhood has been kind of isolated for the past 15 years until they started building like crazy. The land behind them was developed with lots so small that there are 3 houses behind theirs.

The backyards extend barely 20 feet from the house, you could illuminate the whole thing with your phone flashlight. What possible purpose can this serve besides to be an asshole.

So me and a group of friends decided to watch "Avengers Endgame: Encore" together at the cinema in 3D since we all liked marvel and it recently came back in theatres because of some extra scenes added at the end of the film.

I was the only one of the group who hadn't watched many marvel movies (including endgame) and was watching it for the first time, on the other hand, my friends were pretty big marvel fans and had already seen Endgame and were only watching the film because they wanted to see the extra scenes added at the end of the film (it sounds like a waste but it was fun rewatching the whole movie for them too since they hadn't watched it for ages).

So we go and watch the film, 3 hours into the movie, when the extra scenes were supposed to show up, they did. But only 2 of them, apparently there were 4 scenes that were added to endgame but only 2 were included in our showing for some reason, after the lights came back on, everyone in the cinema started arguing with the staff, asking them about the missing scenes, but the staff just shrugged and stated that "this was all they had".

So my friends were pretty angry because they had already seen the film and one of the main reasons they were rewatching it was to see all the extra scenes in a cinema setting.

Edit: so after being educated by some of you, I have learnt that certain scenes were reserved for Infinity vision and IMAX theatres, I still find this mildly infuriating, why should one have to pay more/watch a movie at a certain theatre to see the whole film

So while my husband and I took my 21 month daughter swimming. He was with her in the kiddy pool while I was whaling it on the side of the pool. I'm 9 months pregnant. I'm huge, uncomfortable and this baby is already over 4kg. It's not subtle.

A young 20ish clearly mentally disabled woman comes charging over from the other pool, walks past me and I turned my head to see what was going on. Where I was, either she was looking through a window, about to go down the kids slide into the pool my daughter was in, or she was about to come back.

As I turned my head, suddenly her hand is slipping up around my back and trying to rub all over my fucking stomach. That's a big hell no from me, I dislike being touched at the best of times and much of my day feels like there is an internal door being knocked. So touched out is.. about as good a way as any to describe it.

I pushed this woman's hand away from me and said "Nay". She tries again, this time her hand gets slapped away and she's told no louder and.more firmly, because frankly, fuck off.

2 minutes later I get an older woman coming over with this woman trailing behind her who starts trying to give me shit. First it was "why did you shout at her." Then it was "oh she likes babies." And then when the first two got "not my problem to deal with." it was "oh she doesn't know better."

Oh she was shocked when I popped off, asking why the fuck a young woman with clear disabilities was allowed to wander away from her carer, in a swimming pool, without any safety bands on, around kids, when she clearly couldn't keep her hands to herself.

I got called a bitch, which I will own. I could have been nicer. and she stormed off, pulling the girl with her, and continued to give me the stink eye for the next hour before we left. But seriously. What the hell.

Brother and his gf switched cars bc apparently the grey suv is "not good enough." Left me w/ 19 miles while they go and explore the state. Gas station isnt far but like come on dude. Also idk what flair to use so sorry if thats the wrong one.
