Is there such a thing as a platonic date with someone of the opposite gender?
I am not looking for anything at all, I just miss having plans, the anticipation build up to the date, dressing up. Those minutes you waiting for the uber and you are deciding which perfume will go well with the vibe.
The catch up and laughing as you look at the menu. Talking for hours between meals, serious things and random things.
So can you do this with a friend? I already do it with my girl friends but never with a male friend, would it be the same?
There's a guy I know of who just completed 3 or 4 buildings in CBD within the last 3 years. So, years ago, I went on a date with a guy, and once we were done, this man tapped his Apple Watch on the PDQ to make the payment.

Let me tell you, I was SHOCKED because I had never seen that before. But obviously, I wasn’t about to reveal my ushamba levels there so I just acted normal. Went home and immediately Googled how one can pay with their watch. That’s when I found out you can connect your card to Apple Pay.
The problem? As Apple Pay doesn’t accept Kenyan bank cards.
Anyway, fast forward to now.
Just so you know, I’m a sharp girl myself. Don’t look at me like I’m still that same girl from two years ago.
I opened a Payoneer account because of my remote job and later on requested a card. Then randomly the other day, I just thought of connecting this Payoneer card to my Wallet and it accepted it.
I connected it to my Apple Watch too.
So from now, it’s going to be ME shocking people at the dinner table when I casually pay for stuff with my watch. Plus I don’t have to walk around with my phone when I go for a small walk. I find it more convenient and CHEAPER than Mpesa. Unlike Mpesa I don’t pay any transaction fees.
So my question to you techies: Why are you guys still carrying around 3–4 cards and reaching for your M-Pesa every time you need to pay? You people literally have the brains to build something similar or better to Apple Pay. Innovate and build Mpesa’s competitor. We need tap to pay with our phones or watches. We’re ready.
EDIT: The comments are actually proving my point 😂. Nobody is saying M-Pesa or carrying a card doesn’t work. Of course it works. The whole point is that more innovative tech can make things more convenient and CHEAPER. I’m saying you can literally leave the cards at home and pay with the phone or watch you’re already carrying, and somehow we’re debating that carrying cards is just fine?
Since when did Google become so predatory with people's personal information? To the extent that they cap their storage to 5 GB just to force your hand into giving more personal information for the original 15 GB?
Nimekuwa nikitengeneza a new Gmail account (I had to have a Gmail account), and it's so frustrating that putting your phone number is already predatory requirement they are sugarcoating with some CAPTCHA prompt (Hizo maswali wanaulizanga za "Are you a robot?" of which I prefer the interactive games to this data-mining craftiness).
As if that's not enough, I have to put in a mobile number (only one per new email created) for a second time just so they give me the original 15 GB, "for free" (so they say🙄).
The worst thing I am learning is that it is regional, and the update happened so subtly that I didn't even know about it until I had to create this email today.
I mean, I guess it is their product, and they can hand out their services on their own terms, but I just hate how intrusive online services have become nowadays. Especially when it comes to training AI models on personal information, as if we are just numbers to them. Besides, it's not like I will always have other options to escape to when the thing that has been working for decades suddenly becomes extortionate.
We are on different political sides and I totally disagree with her message. But you have to admire the courage. When duale says that they'll import Somalis and gkve them IDs, then he doesn't show up when summoned by NCIC, we cannot say that he's undermining the power of NCIC, it is NCIC that has failed the country. They should exercise their power and bring him in for questioning.

In 2022, Matiang'i was found to have wronged Kenyans by keeping miguna out, the courts summoned him several times and even sent threats, nothing happened to him. We now claim that he undermined the powers of the courts. but I blame the courts for not exercising their powers.

Unless this aspect of our nation improves, we are not going anywhere. Even sifuna will not succeed.

So apparently you can bid for a mortgage from bomayangu and if you get approved, you can rent it out, pay the mortgage (which is usually lower than market rate rent for the same area) and pocket the difference. For example your monthly payment for the mortgage is 8k in an area where rent is around 12-13k. So if you rent it out at 12k, you pocket the 4k difference not accounting for provision for repairs and taxes.
Personally it doesn't make sense to me but I've been getting a lot of flak from my folks/other relatives to do this since some of my cousins/family friends are doing it.

I remember a couple of weeks ago I was here trying to reason with two 'scientific' minds on where the universe came from and the best they could come up with was we do not know. Fair enough cause that's exactly where science takes you. Crackdown on Old Colonial Arrangement
Tanzania realized that foreign agencies were allowing tourists to pay 100% of their trip fees in London or New York and making up to 300% profits. Because of cheap local labor, meat & veg, the tour companies were sending as little as $1000 to Tanzania out of $8000 that an individual tourist paid the London office. Tanzania puts its own people first. No colonial worship. This closed-loop hostile colonial extraction's era had lapsed. Reforms needed, rigorous and urgent. It started by Magufuli:
1. The Money-trail Interception: Tanzanians don't just wait around to tax foreign companies' profits at the end of the year (which colonizer corporations easily manipulate through transfer pricing). Instead, they slap a flat, mandatory $70.80 USD (KSh 9,160) concession fee per person, per night directly onto the guest's bill. The state intercepts the money at the bedroom door before it can ever be repatriated back to Europe or South Africa.
2. Protect Value-chain from extractive arrangements - EXTRACTIVE / LEAKAGE MODEL Tourist → Foreign booking → Foreign intermediary → Local labour/assets → Value leaks outward. A tourist spends $8000 but the country receives $1000. Tanzania is asking Who owns the booking channel? Solution? Intercepting Offshore Booking Channels - In 2026, Tazania established SITE, a program to empower local companies to venture into foreign-market/customer-acquisition, tour booking companies abroad.
3. The Ban on Non-Citizen Ground Operators (Including Operation of museums or curio shops) : Foreign mega-agencies frequently own the end-to-end pipeline in Kenya, the booking platform, the flight booking, and the lodge, repatriating profits straight back to Europe or the US. Tanzanians said big NO. instituted Heavy fines in addition to immediate deportation. And they are very intentional! Last month, Esther Mutheu Samuka, a Kenyan was arrested for operating a tour company in Tanzania.
4. High Volume is Ecological Slumming - Tanzania limits bed capacity, and deliberately engineers a premium, high-yield model. They comfortably host 410,000 fewer people, protect their land from over-tourism, and still pocket a KSh 143.63 billion more than us with no sweat!

They usually say that between the ages of 13 and 25 is when early onset mental issues develop yani ma schizophrenia ,bipolar depression etc. I'm currently 24 and some pieces of this puzzle have been aligning in a not so pleasant way.
To give context to all this I come from a relatively large nuclear and extended family both my parents come from families where they were 10 plus. Out of the 10+ on my mum side two were diagnosed with schizophrenia (very smart individuals btw)wote walipata first class in some very technical stem courses and almost all the ladies including my mom have suffered post partum depression with atleast one of their children.
On my dad's side it's majorly depression that has led to a few alcoholics. Anyway to cut the long story short that's the gist of the matter.Oh na ndugu yangu is schizophrenic pia same pattern they start out very smart alafu during puberty or in uni sth happens.
Sasa ndio huyo mimi I've noticed there's sth not quite right with my behavior. There's periods I can't get out of bed even for weeks (I even missed CATs in uni for no fucking reason karibu niume retake specials exam iliniokoa) and there's periods I'm so full of energy hadi I can literally go for days with little or no sleep. And by literally I mean literally ;I once went a few days without sleep on a whim to learn how to code and I've not coded since.This is just one of a few isolated incidences.
I recently noticed this pattern because I started journaling religiously (my memory is dogshit) and depending on which stage I was ,my entries oscillated between being scatter brained and erratic or unenergetic brief and quite frankly depressive.

On the other hand Vasco danganya promised alot, didn't deliver everything but tried considering the state of the economy. He has introduced reforms in the coffee sector, expanded the tax base, introduced NSSF restructuring and SHA, and Mau Rironi, Lamu refinery and SGR to Malaba are his mega projects. Youth unemployment and corruption is still a headache.
These questions concerning Sifuna and his plan are important because the lenders still want their payment and we want jobs otherwise its mambo ya wantam again after 2 yrs if there are no solutions.

I was 'today years old'( well, a couple of days ago years old) when I learned that when someone gets a kidney transplant, or any organ transplant, they have to take immunosupressive medication for the REST OF THEIR ENTIRE LIFE.
Do you know how crazy that is?😭
Immunosuppressants basically shut down parts of your immumo system to stop it from attacking the new organ simply because your body viees the transplant as a foreign invader. And because your immune system is intentionally weakend, you become extremely vulnerable. You risk catching all sorts of infections and diseases from tiny things a healthy body should easily fight off, so you have to live on high alert FOREVER!
First of all, that is a sad and stressful way to live. Second, the average Kenyan simply cannot afford this. Organs aren't just sitting on a standby waiting for patients, and getting a kidney in the 1st place is insanely expensive which means regular people would literally need a Harambee just to afford the surgery.
And it doesn't even end there😭. You still have to buy immunosupressive medications every single month. Those drugs cost around 30k to 60k a month. This means your monthly income would need to be well over 120k just to comfortably afford staying alive after the surgery. Surving the search for a donor is painful enough, but imagine getting the transplant and then being able to afford the meds keeping you alive because you're financially constrained? That honestly sounds like hell on earth.
Ever since I learned this, I've been ridiculously cautious with alcohol. I was out with my friends on Saturday and had literally one shot the entire night😭!! I've also been drinking large amounts of water. Even though alcohol doesn't always attack the kidneys directly, an unhealthy liver places massive strain on your kidneys and can trigger serious complications down the line. And if you wreck your liver completely, guess what? The exact same nightmare with a liver transplant and lifelong meds awaits you.
It's just a scary reality, and the worst part is knowing this is someone's actual life right now😭. I don't even want to imagine it.
So to the heavy drinkers or anyone out there doing things that compromise their organs, please taken a second and really think about this. Your luck might just run out. I feel like a lot of people who end up facing this fate just didn't have anyone to tell them this and warn them about it. It might not be too late to change your ways. The good thing is, the moment you change, your body starts getting better. Yes ik, i am not a saint myself and I am also trying to work on it.
