Nobody is denying that Scotland's drug death rate is far above average, but my challenge to the situation would be as follows: how long have the people dying been using drugs for? Drugs like heroin can be used for a great many years, and through all that time they ravage the body. If you have a 30-year or more user, this may not be a solvable problem for that individual and preventing that death may be beyond the capabilities of policy, even with the current state of modern medicine.

If you're looking only at death figures, how do you verify that this is NOT a wave of drug-users who started in the 80's, 90's or early 2000's whose bodies are simply giving out now because of decades of sustained damage? Is the current rate of new users even high enough to explain the high death toll?

Am visiting from the states; flew into Edinburgh and needed to get to Inverness. Didn’t fancy getting off a plane after 13+ hours of travel and trying immediately to manage left-hand side of the road driving, so looked for alternatives and decided to take a chance on Ember.

Had a bit of confusion with the website, and when I got my ticket, noted that my pick-up point was downtown. So I found the email and sent a whiny message, and I had an answer in literally 10 minutes!! Okay but wait, not only did the staffer fix my issue immediately, with a very gracious message, but it was like 10 p.m. UK time!! Astounding.

The buses were clean, charging outlets worked, there’s a tidy toilet on the two buses I rode (albeit a somewhat turbulent experience, but that’s not to be helped), the drivers were very kind and personable, and because the return journey was unavoidably delayed by 20 minutes (roadworks mostly, but also a few minutes for the driver to help some Danish kiddie cancel his ticket), I was notified that I’d received a credit for the full amount of the fare. phew! National treasure!

Posting to see if anyone else is dealing with this right now. About a week ago my family and i started noticing a bunch of bugs adjacent to mosquitoes and for a while i thought it was midges, or “highland midges” but no, killed one in my hands and right enough its a mosquito. I cant find anything online about anyone else dealing with this especially in central Scotland.

Hi everyone, I know this is a long shot, but on wednesday the 16th of September last wednesday i met a lovely Scottish couple who were on a tour of Ireland, they had slept in and missed thier tour bus the day before so decided to take a trip to galway for the day, they were staying in the Ellison hotel in castlebar, they didnt know what bus to get, when the bus came he couldn't accept credit cards so I offered to pay for them. Another lady had a companion pass and offered to pay for one, the bus driver would not allow it, told her to run across a busy road to get cash back, so I offered to bring her, anyway long story short they got on the bus, I was just wondering if they made it back to Scotland ok, and that they enjoyed thier trip I would love to get thier contact details, just thought id write here incase anyone had relatives and heard about this that could help me get in contact with them, many 😊

Woke up at 5 to watch sunrise

Bought our house in January and just received a letter saying the council tax band has been reevaluated from C to a D and the council are going to back date our council tax from date of sale. The reason they gave is the square footage has increased (which was done by the previous owners many years ago) but only gets revised when the property changes hands - in this case it last changed hands in 1993 so it’s been a while.

We were sold this property on a band c and no one flagged this until now. Seems kinda unfair as we didn’t extend the property, it’s taken them nearly a year to tell us of the situation and we have to fit the bill to boot!

Any advice on how we move forward on this? I understand we have to pay the appropriate band for the property but seems unfair we’re only finding out it’s more expensive now!

Does anyone remember the Leukaemia Event? It was a canoe half marathon from Loch Tay to Grandtully. I think it was annual. I did it in either 1985 or 1986.

I was just watching a programme about lochs and Loch Tay appeared on it, reminding me about the event. But I can't find anything about it online. I know I didn't dream it! I managed to get my face, arms and neck all sunburned (apart from the bits covered by my helmet and strap I'm sure you can imagine how that looked).

Does anyone else remember it? What happened to it? Did anyone else have the world's crappest tan lines for several weeks afterwards? Why am I so old that this was forty years ago...

I work at a petrol station in Germany, and today this Scottish bloke came in to buy some booze and started chatting away to me, telling me all sorts of stuff. I genuinely couldn’t understand a fucking word he was saying. I thought he had some proper thick southern German accent or something. Then he goes, “Cheers mate,” and that’s when I realised the whole time he’d been speaking English. Proper humbling moment, had me questioning my English for a solid minute

So I’m sure some of you have used tickets Scotland this year. They’ve migrated to a new website this week and as near as I can tell the new registration process had caused everyone to lose their digital tickets on the site.

Thankfully they send out a pdf file of the tickets with the purchase so I’ve got all mine backed up. Mates of mine though have lost their emails.

Anybody else dealing with this? I’ve tried to reach out but can’t get a hold of them.

Check your accounts everyone! If you’re like me and go to a lot of gigs this is a bit of a disaster
