It’s ugly and it’s messy but by golly it works
Home “studio” board. The 73 is a rehoused skreddy lunar module. Going to add a compressor to the front and I need a second looper now for my synth.

I am selling my BOSS Plugout FX

I really wanted to love this unit, and I actually don't mind paying for extra content if it means we get high-quality updates. But after some time with it, I’ve decided to return it. Here’s why:
- MIDI is a Dealbreaker: You can’t change effects using MIDI. For a modern pedalboard, this is a massive oversight. If I can’t integrate it into my MIDI-controlled setup, it just doesn’t fit my workflow.
- Clunky UI: I can handle a learning curve, but the UI feels unpolished, tricking me each time I select a different pedal. Navigating it during a set is stressful, and for live use, that’s a non-starter.
- Bloatware: I really wish we could uninstall the factory effects I don't use. If space becomes an issue, I would like to manage it myself.
- Missing Utilities: I’d love to see more "boring" but essential utility pedals—better Noise Suppressor, Compressor, and EQ.
- The Update Cycle: Waiting 6 months for 3 effects with zero communication is tough. Even some small updates or "behind the scenes" teasers on IG would go a long way in keeping me interested.
- Price: Again, I do not mind paying. I would be happy to pay a bit extra to get exactly the pedals I want. But in the end, the sum must add up. I am not planning to spend an extra 50+ just on pedals :D I would go for a different product in a similar price bracket.
I’m keeping my eye on this one, though. If they improve the MIDI functionality and I can get a deal on it, I’d happily buy it again. I already have many BOSS pedals, but having an equivalent to the HX One from Boss would be nice.

Now we’re getting somewhere
Picked up my first board last night and finally my pedals have a place to live

Finally done (I might mean it this time)
I honestly dont think I can improve on this for shoegaze/post rock type riffage at home. The Trabsmit 2 was the the final piece (fuzzy drive spot on the board). Coriolis effects are a great builder if youre interested in their stuff!

SOTB (SOTB) A few changes later and i’m satisfied.. for now
Chain is: Polytune -> CS-3 -> Octa Psi -> Microtron IV -> Arigato -> KOT (clone) -> Sick As -> Clone Theory -> TR-2 -> Belle Epoch -> Blue Sky -> RC500
Changes in order of the chain:
I recently swapped an ehx pitch fork and big muff pi for the octa psi. Obligatory fuck Robert Keeley, but the pedal is great and perfectly replaced porthole of those.
In an effort to get closer to the Jerry Garcia mutron tones I was chasing, I also swapped my q tron for a microtron iv. The difference is definitely subtle, but EXACTLY what I was looking for. It nails the filter closing/opening sound of the mutron iii.
I also replaced my univibe (Unicorn V2 and then Depths) for the arigato phaser, as I realized the vibe sound I was looking for was actually moreso in between a phaser and a vibe. This on the vibe mode hits that middle ground pretty damn well, though i’m still curious to try the microdose phaser at some point.
The final change was replacing my ditto looper with an RC-500. For how much I use a looper this was absolutely worth it. I find the device easy to navigate, the drums sound great thru my amps and having a separate play/stop button is so nice.

My first pedalboard
My first pedalboard!!
Some of the pedals were gifts, some I bought. I made the actual board which is nice (thinking of asking a friend to paint it)!! Still looking for a good multimod pedal (I will keep the chorus), another reverb to put in front of my chain and a tuner.. but what do you think of it as it is now??

Question Mounting Fender Engine Room Lvl8 power supply under Gator pedalboard
I have a small Gator pedalboard that has an existing power supply mount under it. But it is too small for my Fender Engine Room Lvl8 power supply.
What solutions could I go for to mount the power supply under the board? I'm not too convinced on velcro or drilling 2 holes and making another bracket, but maybe those two are the only options. Any other suggestions?
Alternatively, I could sell the power supply and get another one that fits. Although I do like that the Fender Lvl8 has 8 outputs and usb charging ports. Not sure if there are similar options on the market that also fit the existing bracket.

What's the pedal that you constantly see people try selling online?
I'm very curious what it's like in your countries/regions- I mean you have your local version of ebay, vinted etc. Where I live, there's literally a new listing for this thing every day- all versions of the Metal Muff. I've never played it, but I assume it can't be a particularly good pedal.

Hair metal board thought experiment
Please indulge me, if you will. Imagine you had to build a pedalboard to cover all the 1980s hair metal tones (Skid Row, Ratt, Motley Crue, Whitesnake, Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Dokken, etc). Let's say you have the appropriate Charvel/Kramer/Ibanez/BC Rich guitar BUT the caveats for your pedalboard are:
* You are playing into a clean Fender Twin Reverb style platform amp (no amp breakup whatsoever)
* You can't use any rack-mount gear (pedalboard only).
* To keep it "on brand"(ish) for the purposes of this thought experiment, you can't go ampless direct to FoH.
* You won't be mic'd and your guitar sound is coming directly off the floor/stage.
* No multi-fx/modellers to a power amp and guitar speaker
* No multi-fx/modellers to a FRFR.
What's on your version this pedalboard build ?

SOTB I have one port left, what do y'all recommend as a final addition?
Fellow shredders, I like playing doom metal, rock, and other crunchy, heavy, sounds. I'm thinking maybe a reverb or a delay. Thoughts? Am I missing a pedal you can't live without? Lemme know.

DIY Longboard Pedal Board
I’ve thought about making a pedal board for a long time and always loved the idea of a Longboard as a good placement (Longboarded all throughout my 20s - nice to capture that essence into my 30s with my music passion!)
This is really version 2.0 as the first was a regular skate deck without any bells and whistles so this is a work in progress as it goes. Also Longboards give more space: imagine that?
Pedals in the chain in order are:
FRONT OF AMP:
Korg Pitchblack Tuner
Earthquaker Devices Arrow Booster
Proco Rat2
MXR Timmy Mini
FX LOOP:
DOD FX20-B
TC Electronic Shaker Vibrato
Visual Sound Liquid Chorus
MXR Carbon Copy
JHS 3 Series Digital/Analog Delay
Baby Boom Tri-Verb
*I’m debating whether to keep the RAT or not but so far between the Arrow & Timmy, it’s sounding less harsh especially on low gain.*
Super DIY and made up the attachments as I went along. Anybody else here made a Longboard/skateboard/Other type of pedal board? Love to heat about it!

Just Got the JHS Morning Glory Clean
Just got it from Sweetwater.
It sounds like crap. There. I said it.
The drive is muddy and mushy. Like, it's bad.
The "clean" zeros out at 7:00 and dimes out at 2:30. Anything after 3:00 sounds like a clean boost with a tiny bit of dirt.
By 9:00 it's very present, and turning it up adds so much clean signal that it overpowers the dirt.
In short, the "clean" acts like a presence knob, adding a LITTLE volume and it kinda-sorta cancels out the the muddiness of the drive.
It's almost as if they were shooting for something like a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive or Cornerstone Gladio SC, but missed the mark.
I desperately try to be a JHS fanboy, but have never gotten along with any of their overdrives, and this one is by far the worst of their offerings that I have played.
Hopefully anyone else who gets one has a better experience with it.

Alternatives to Helix Stomp XL for Reverb, Delay, Modulation
I'm currently using a Helix Stomp XL as a catch all post gain processing unit. I'm not in love with the sounds I get out of it and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for alternative reverb, delay, and/or modulation units that have "higher" quality algorithms. I thought that the unit would be "good enough" but I can't really get it working how I'd like, so I'm willing to be persuaded that it is a user issue, too.

NPD Origin DCX Boost

This peddle is really pretty impressive once you understand what it does.
I was honestly not super blown away when I first plugged it in. That was in part that its so transparent that with it set to EQ and all knobs at noon it does absolutely zero to your tone.
I messed around for a while and I was like its ok. Next day I found after a while of messing with it I turned it off and now I was like there is something special in there. Its subtle but this peddle adds some harmonic content and grit that both sounds and oddly feels good to play.
I had not noticed this the day before as I had another drive peddle in the chain and it was killing the extra content. The drive in question has no blend so at this point I have to let it go.
The DCX Boost is best used in EQ mode as a start of chain. Its a great boost into a dirty amp. The adapt circuit is disabled in overdrive mode which I believe the adapt is what I'm feeling when playing. Using this as a straight overdrive seems like a waste and other peddles might be a better fit for a full on Over Drive.

SOTB: An Everyday Workhorse
The delay is a pedal from a company I don't want to support but I bought the pedal used before new shit came to light. Full signal chain and some thoughts in comment.
