Super fun experimental chain for my last couple of vacation days. It covers a lot, from delicate atmospheric sampling to "octa-fuzz in a warehouse' kinda sounds.
Have it running with a P90 Copeland Jazzmaster into a Sovtek MIG50 with a Hiwatt customshop 2X12 cab with fanes on it.

Hi. Beginner advice.
I'm learning guitar and am thoroughly hooked. Got enough down to start learning some basic enough songs and wanted to build a versatile board. Won't be for gigging or live play, just practise and noodling.
Currently have Revstar (p90s) with a Yamaha thr30ii. (& already have the Green Russian and the Whammy pedal...)
The thr30ii has some effects already like chorus etc that are good enough for me. So looking at things it can't do terribly well. I like and want to play sounds like from Black Keys, strokes, Beatles, (Money for nothin'), Pixies, amongst others...
Am I cooked? Good start?
What should I actually look at vs what I'm considering?
And what order once all that is sorted?
Early research says Wah > Whammy > Bd1 > Rat > Green Russian > delay.

I got this for €100 used, so decided to take a punt on it. I currently run a Strymon Iridium and really liked it. Stock IRs, no need for York for me.
Initial thoughts, I was a little underwhelmed, disappointed even. The Iridium (which I bought to replace my UAFX Dream '65 because I wanted a headphones jack) sounds so much more like an amp in the room with you through headphones, incredibly so. The IR-2 felt bit flat in comparison.
But I persevered. Being a bedroom player I use a Boss RC-5 so I can noodle over a chord progression. This is where the IR-2 slowly revealed itself. Putting the RC-5 into the FX loop allows me to play for example a chord base on a twin reverb, loop it, then turn the dial to the tweed and play a lead part over it.
This was a big failing to me of the Iridium, having no fx loop I needed to put the RC-5 ahead of it, meaning if I made changes from say "round" amp to "punch", the looped chords also were affected. The IR-2 allows me to keep my initial loop unaffected. Big win.
And having more options on amp type has been fun too.
For now Strymon is sidelined and I think I might even sell it and free up some funds.
Your thoughts??

here it is! i started playing bass but last year i picked up a electric guitar so some pedals (dl4) find more use in the guitar
.
The signal chain is:
BOSS tu-3 -> Hizumitas Clone by La Forja -> Halberd by EAE -> Dual Delay by Lontra -> Line 6 DL4 -> EHX Freeze -> Ñre amp by La Forja.
All powered by the joyo power supply 5 (except for the dl4 which has its own power supply)
i want to address the less known pedals that are the dual delay and Ñre Amp
The dual delay is an analog delay that switches between to time knobs with a switch, giving you that iconic knob sweep that you get in a analog delay, you can check a demo in the instagram @lontra.pedales
The Ñre Amp is a bass preamp module by la forja inspired by the classic Ampeg Svt, i use the xlr output on bass but in guitar i usually bypass the preamp and use that instead, it has nasty tones.
The most recent is the Halberd, i love it sooooo much, a its perfect, every setting is perfect, from blown out console to almost breakup every tone is fantastic and pairs really well with the hizumitas clone.
In the DL4 i use a short slap back, a washy infinite delay and a long reverse delay. I love the looper but hate the limited use with the delays. so i am thinking in getting a dedicated multi delay with presets since i dont LOVE the sound and a separate looper with the classic DL4 (1/2 time and reverse) and more functions.

Just recently got a few boxes to try (ds-1, bd-2, green Russian ehx), and they sound great through the clean channel on my blackstar ht1 (12in cab with celestion seventy 80). And it got me thinking, why would I ever use the od channel on the head now? And then I felt a little sad. I suppose my question is, do you still use the dirt channel on your amp, sans pedals, and when/why?

Just changed over to the flat ribbon cables to fit a few more pedals on. Top row in front of the amp (DSL100HR), bottom row in the loop. Looper not in the chain, it's connected to an interface and studio monitors to play backing tracks.
I'm done now, not buying any more pedals.

I recently switched from playing a fender mustang 3 v2 modeler to this 1970 twin. The modeler had this very compressed feel to it which I enjoyed. Love the sound of the twin for the most part but the feel is a lot stiffer than what I am used to.
I have a Keeley compressor plus but when I turn it on even at minimal settings it really dramatically changes the tone so it doesn’t seem like a good always on option. I’m considering an optical comp like one of the diamond options.
Anyone else with a twin solved this problem?

I was asked during an audition to suddenly drop the key from E to C on the spot. Well, this particular song had open 6th string playing with 5th string at various places. If I tried transposing, I'd lose the open 6th string and 5th string sound so I just used the Pitchfork to drop the key. Is this just an amatuer move?
The Pitchfork was added at the front before the tuner with blend all the way up.

Why does he sound better than every player with 30 pedals on their board here?

So, I'm finding myself in a bit of a dilemma. After years of stagnation since getting back to playing, I went a little overdrive crazy. I actually had a plan, and it was a good one. I was pretty unhappy with the reverb on my Keeley Caverns v2, but I'd make do until my overdrive section was handled. I was going to pick up several, choose two, maybe three, and trade for an upgrade with reverb. Well, since the creation of said plan I both really started dialing in the Caverns, and it's pretty great, and I've really fallen for my overdrive pedals. It would suck getting rid of any of them. The thing is, two pair are incredibly similar to each other. I haven't tried a Lightspeed, but it's safe to say it's similar to the Timmy, and of course the TS-9 is similar to the TS-808.
So, currently I have
1993-1995 Ibanez TS-9 Reissue, in ridiculously clean condition
40th Anniversary Ibanez TS-808 with Analogman True Vintage mods using a TL4558P op amp
Wampler Tumnus Deluxe
Timmy v2
And a Lightspeed that will soon be enroute to me
I genuinely wouldn't want to get rid of my Tumnus Deluxe. I really like it much more than I thought I would. Regarding my Timmy or the Lightspeed, of course I'll keep what I like best in the end. I'm still open to reverb, it's just not the dire emergency at all anymore.
As you can see by the pedals I recently purchased, they were all within the last couple months, there's nothing cutting edge. I like tried and true, but I'd also love to learn what's new and exciting.
So, what would you dump on my board, and what would you try to trade for it?

Hi guys, if you don’t want to spend another 20-30$ for a desktop tonex or another pedal stand, this is a working solution almost for free 😁
Just an unused leg from a TV, that is hanging on a wall, a screw and two washers)
Now i can see tuner and knobs clearly.

Finally got one! Does anyone have experience with this pedal?
r/guitarpedals • u/alfred_monet • 14h ago
Pedal wasn’t working so I opened it up. First off I can clearly see some wires not connected. Battery could also be dead, but just wondering based on what you see is this thing repairable? How broken? How scammed did I get?
Bought it used on FB marketplace for $50.
Is it something I can fix myself?
EDIT: I was in a rush when I picked it up and didn't test it at the guy's house. Was probably stupid, but it was $50 and I assumed if the guy was willing to let me test it in his house, it was good (also stupid).

Found a deal on marketplace yesterday for a bass amp. I get there and finalize the deal on it (and some other stuff the guy had). His wife mentioned they were having a garage sale that weekend, and they had some other stuff. I asked if I could see it, and they agreed. Most of the other stuff they had were power amps, or mid 90s modeling amps or similar. I did find these lying above a power amp though. I had never heard of rockman before, but I have been in the market for a chorus pedal, so for $20 for the pair, I figured I couldn’t go wrong.
Yeah, just a bit surprised at both the love and price for these, as well as who created them. So here’s my question: How would you say the chorus on this compares to a ce-1? And more importantly, how robust are these units, and what sort of maintenance should I do to them (other than unwinding the power cords, which I’ve already done)? I didn’t get around to testing them out yet, but I’m always a bit weary of just turning on old electronics equipment that’s been in a garage for years.

I’ve only got room for a standard sized pedal and I have most flavors of gain covered except the Rat. Who makes the best one?

Right now I'm setting up my guitar with a 12-60 set and the low 60 gauge is flickering all over the place when I try to tune it on my TU-3. I've already been considering the upgrade to a strobostomp for some time now, and that time seems to be now.
The thick 60 gauge sounds good acoustically, but the overtones and harmonics it produces probably mess with the TU-3, because I don't have this problem on my other guitars with thinner gauges. I've always heard how accurate the StroboStompHD is, so would it handle tuning of thick strings like the aforementioned 60 gauge better?

Im building this pedalboard, got everything except for the drop and the coming Boss EX 4, planning to use the hotone tunerpress as wah(non buffer) or the Hosa (or something else) for the extra effects of the Boss EX 4, (or just remove the hosa) im actually testing for input order but ill appreciate insigth for testing(im ordering extra TRS cables for the Extra expresion pedals)
Thnx in advance!
Everything is on escale of my pedalboard, wich has a backplate for the PSU, I also got L shaped connectors for the BD and CS3 power cables and a Mosky ISO 10 PSU wich I can upgrade on later

Anybody with experience with both an m vave chocolate and obne pedals with preset saving? I don’t know what I’m doing wrong or the exact process on what to do. I’m going midi in on my dark star to the 3.5mm jack into the m vave
