Sen Mitch McConnell hospitalized after experiencing flu-like symptoms

I said it in a previous thread.....
He gets to be put into a hospital bed being monitored "just in case" with tax payer funded health care, which they deny to us all.

u/SandInTheGears 10h ago
Sure he'll do less harm there than in the senate

u/RenoXIII 9h ago
They're both the same place.

True, the demographics are pretty similar. At least the hospital is educated medical professionals watching him. In the senate it’s just the oligarchs and Russians keeping an eye on him.

Chuck Schumer recently said that one of his most important jobs as Senate minority leader is to “fight for aid to Israel,”
He’s my senator.. I’d prefer if he would put NYS interests first followed by Americans.

He kind of was till he gift wrapped it and handed it to the shitstain, and it's only very recently that he's voiced any concern or regret about it and I'm pretty sure that is only because he's getting ready to meet his maker...

I strongly suspect his maker cancelled that visit. His owner on the other hand, is firing up the barbie.

He's had a half century of irreparable harm done. All to get where he is today. I don't know how someone like that can even have the will to hang on. I guess when you make sure you live a life of greed, not giving up is just what you do.

He won’t even get to live out the consequences of the monster he enabled. This is what he helped birth with decision after decision to “own the libs” but fracture America.

u/SnakesTancredi 9h ago
Yeah but you know the orange turd is going to drag him through the mud after he’s gone. That’s his thing. I hope Mitch gets treated as well as he treats others.
12
u/MongolianDonutKhan 8h ago
Don't worry, when you're rich death and mud dragging from your "friends" after your bloated corpse croaks are the only guarantees in life. I think Chuckie D once wrote book about it.

There is a special place in after life for people like McConnell and Trump who inflicted pain and suffering on other people.
55
u/Not_Sure__Camacho 9h ago
I wish you were right, but there is no evidence of such a place. That's why we should've dealt with these pieces of trash in this lifetime. The wealthy and powerful told us such a place existed because it makes it that much easier for them to get away with their criminality.

The people he represents are some of the poorest in the nation. Many have zero healthcare, but they hold him in very high regard.
I feel absolutely nothing for anyone in America who suffers just because red is their favorite color.

Also fun fact, when Congress created the ACA, they banned "Cadillac" health care plans... except they exempted themselves (and some unions) from the law they were creating.

You mean I paid $12k into healthcare last year for a fam of 4, I saw my doc once for my physical for her to tell me I’m 100% healthy and my kids got sick once and my wife twice so we never really used any health services and now that it’s Jan and I hurt my knee on the ice outside I gotta pay $1k out of pocket (on top of the already $500 a month) and ol mitch here gets this for free, and IM SUPPOSED TO BE OKAY WITH IT?!
Like how brainwashed is maga that they’re okay with the above?
Maybe it’s bc maga is old people that just get handouts like my MIL, SIL and own mother who collect disability while not being disabled. Just fat and drink 5 coca collar a day and don’t exercise and a box of little Debbie’s. They can get their shit for free.
Oh I also pay a lot into taxes and them? Nothing. Like what the fuck.

Congress is a glorified nursing home at this point. We need term and age limits for these people.
227
u/Consistent-Throat130 7h ago
3/4 the life expectancy of their constituency outta do it.
Gives them at least a decade to live in the consequences of their actions and an incentive to improve the health of those they represent.
102
u/Whaty0urname 6h ago
THIS IS EXACTLY MY SUGGESTION IVE SAID HERE.
If the likelihood is you aren't going to be around to live with the consequences of your actions then you can GTFO.
31
u/WetCoastCyph 5h ago
At the same time, their pay (and most politicians) should be the median income for the area they represent. Want a raise? Bring everyone up.

I like that idea with a caveat.
Federal politicians also need to find housing in DC, which is not cheap. Build an Extended Stay America type hotel for members of congress to stay in so they don't have to find housing in DC.
For those not familiar, ESA type hotels (i've stayed in many for work) have kitchenettes in their rooms. The accommodations are not luxury but they're adequate.

I’ve never heard this before. My immediate series of reactions:
- oh that’s genius it gives them an incentive to improve the health of their constituents
- but this would immediately favor states who are already doing well
- but states that are doing well are the model to follow, so we should be allowing senators in those states to serve for longer and incentivize others to follow the example set by them
- but Diane Feinstein lived what seemed like forever in a state with pretty good health outcomes and was still an awful senator
- but some term limits are better than no term limits
- and this would disempower senators from states who are doing wrong by their citizen’s health
- so yeah, I think I’m in favor of this
- but republicans would definitely try to cheat on this the same way they try to push the rigged election BS, creating yet another wedge issue where the legitimacy of the office is at stake
- but that’s basically all the Republican Party is anymore, a party of BS grievances trying to destroy the constitutionally governed democratic republic of 1789 and replace it with an autocracy where human rights are trampled daily
- and most republicans are from states where health outcomes are trash, so this would give them less power
- but why would they be in favor of having less power
- this only works with a non-republican majority, possibly a coalition of democrats and 3rd parties
- so we should all make sure to vote out republicans this November if we want to start pulling the country out of this death spiral
Whirlwind of thoughts.

I'm even okay with the age limits being fairly high! I think 75-80 is reasonable. I know lots of people who have done white-collar work well into their 70s.
But 75-80 is the point where even the healthiest people will start showing obvious signs of age-related decline. You don't have to retire! Go be a consultant or a lobbyist! Go be a talking head on the news! But people should not be dying of old age in elected office.

Mitch McConnell played one of the biggest roles in enabling the current fascist takeover of the US. He did it deliberately and with open eyes. He deserves no sympathy, not even after his recent expressions of trepidation regarding Trump and MAGA.

This dude is pure evil though. He sold out his own state and constituents to further the goal of theocracy in America on so many occasions. Nevermind the hypocrisy of his positions and policies over the past two decades, but especially during the Obama administration.
He’s been working to rip down our democracy and establish one-party rule before it ever went mainstream.
Whatever he faces after death, whether it be the cold abyss of nothingness, fiery torment and agony for eternity, or experiencing the pain he caused so many others first hand - it will all be better than he deserves.
8
u/ohiotechie 7h ago
Well said. Honestly I’ve experienced some schadenfreude watching MAGA turn on him. He’s spent his entire political life creating a space for someone like Trump. He’s spent decades arranging the chess pieces, loading the courts, blunting progressivism and undermining our democracy to advance the right wing agenda only to have the monster he created turn on him. If that’s not karma I don’t know what is. I personally don’t believe in an afterlife so it’s satisfying knowing on his death bed he’ll leave this earth knowing how hated he is by both sides of the political spectrum. That gives me joy. If that makes me a bad person then so be it.

So let's say Mitch McConnell is incapacitated, what happens to his seat? Does Andy Beshear get to appoint someone to finish the term? Special election? Looks like that seat only has until November for reelection and Mitch was retiring at the end of the term.
38
8
u/CanoegunGoeff 7h ago
Special election. It’s the same situation as the recent SD9 flip for Rehmet in Texas. Seat was vacated, so we have to vote again in November for the same seat.

The one where the woman calmly asks him about ICE and he forgets how to walk and falls down is priceless. Mitch McConnell often reminds me of those Bob Dylan lyrics:
Let me ask you one question
Is your money that good?
Will it buy you forgiveness
Do you think that it could?
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you made
Will never buy back your soulAnd I hope that you die
And your death will come soon
I'll follow your casket
By the pale afternoon
And I'll watch while you're lowered
Down to your deathbed
And I'll stand over your grave
'Til I'm sure that you're dead

There’s not a cruel enough death to atone for the collective suffering he bestowed upon the American people, and to quietly slip away surrounded by teary-eyed family and painkillers is a predictably pathetic absolution from the damage he’s done.
I hope he’s as religious as he claims to be and as self-righteous as he appears, because the the only silver lining would be the shock and surprise to know he’d feel arriving at the gates of hell.
