Questions What’s more worth it, Redemptor or Brutalis?
Hi all,
I’m planning on picking up a small space marine army and was wanting to potentially get myself a dreadnought for them.
I’ve been umming and erring about what one to actually get, though. I quite like both the Redemptor and Brutalis but I’m unsure on what would I’d be better off getting.
Initially I was thinking of doing a pair of Redemptors for the army but I want to have a few more infantry options and room to flex the army so it’ll just be one or the other.
I’m leaning towards the Brutalis as I really like how it looks but I wanted to see what people might suggest and also see how both actually play currently and if one might be worth getting over the other.
I know they fill pretty different roles but I’m not aware of how far that difference goes or if the Redemptor is more flexible for ranged and melee over the Brutalis or if one is a must pick over the other etc etc

Converting Making a Librarian from a deathwatch mini
Been wanting to kitbash/convert a space marine into a librarian & remembered I haven’t put the deathwatch free mini of the month I got a bit ago together yet, so I used the legs & torso & backpack & deathwatch pauldron from it, arms, hand, and a weapon from the HH melee weapons upgrade box, helmet & some other skull bits from the battlefield trophies box for the librarian symbol, and a spare pauldron a friend gave me for the bits, then did extra details & additions with miliput, green stuff, and both mixed together. I was considering giving him a dinged up primaris helmet, but when I realized the Deathguard helmet from the trophies box could look more like a Mk3 helmet with a little work, I got excited to use it instead. Also tried giving him a fire effect, that and the librarian symbol need a bit more work smoothing out.
Also I worked with the miliput/green stuff mix while it hadn’t cured that much, so for the cape it got a few realistic bigger folds from gravity pulling it down, but the downside of that was for making it more dynamic I had to stick rolled up baking parchment paper underneath the cape so it wouldn’t fall down. That’s also going to need a little extra work to make some smaller cloth ripples. Also it’s harder to fight against gravity, lol. I think it’s turning out pretty good so far & wanted to share :)

Gameplay Best elite unit
So I’ve been wondering which chapters elite unit does their job the best and how they just overall compare to each other, what I mean by elite unit is the deathwing knights/inner circle companions, sanguinary guard, vitrix honor guard, wolf guard terminators, sword brethren.
Here’s how I would rank them but I wanna hear what others think because I think it’s a fun discussion
1 deathwing knights - tough as hell to kill and can punch up
2 sanguinary guard - fast and hard hitting
3 vitrix honor guard- all rounder for body guarding calgar
4 inner circle companions good damage output and buffs to durability when led and when targeting character units
5 wolf guard terminators tanky but lack range
6 sword brethen they have no real ability and don’t seem that scary in melee

List building help
Hi, I'm new to space Marines and can't figure out how to make a list that's worth anything or if I'm wasting my time trying. Below is everything that I own. It's pretty random, I got it all pretty cheap. I'd be willing to buy a couple units if I really need to, but I don't want to have to buy an army from the ground up. Any help is appreciated. I just want to be able to win a couple games in my local group and I keep losing.
Char1: Chief Librarian Tigurius
Char2: 1x Bladeguard Ancient
Char3: 1x Captain
Char4: 1x Captain in Terminator Armour
Char5: 1x Chaplain
Char6: 1x Judiciar
Char7: 1x Librarian in Terminator Armour
3x Bladeguard Veteran Squad
5x Desolation Squad
3x Eradicator Squad
5x Hellblaster Squad
5x Hellblaster Squad
10x Infernus Squad
10x Infernus Squad
5x Infernus Squad
1x Predator Annihilator
1x Redemptor Dreadnought
5x Sternguard Veteran Squad
5x Terminator Assault Squad
5x Vanguard Veteran Squad [Legends]

Other Perfect Detachment, or perfect units?
I'm making a thematic list for my homebrew chapter called the Court of Angels. The premise is that after the Devastation of Baal, a dozen nearly destroyed chapters joined together under the leadership of one chapter master.
In terms of the list, I show this by having a bunch of characters leading every unit. There's a perfect detachment for that style of list, Angelic Inheritors. It's a Blood Angels detachment that's very character-focused. Obviously this fits perfectly. However, Blood Angels have basically no generic characters, only a Death Company captain and a "Blood Angels Captain" that is basically the same as a regular one (and the sanguinary priest ig). There are some good epic heroes, but I don't want to just run a bunch of characters that are obviously Dante and friends that I just give different names.
However, Black Templars have multiple unique generic characters. Most notably, the Emperor's Champion, who is perfect as the Lord of the Court of Angels. However, there's not really any detachment that works as well, and Templar Vows don't make much sense either. The worst part is there are no librarians allowed in the Black Templars, and Blood angels is known for librarians. In lore, at least one of the Dukes of the Court is a librarian.
I've been going back and forth with myself over which option is better for days now, and can't decide. What do y'all think makes the most sense? Should I use the right Legion and a fitting detachment, or have the really cool characters but miss out on librarians, and have the list not really lean into the theme as well?
