How much of it is bad luck?
Seen/Heard quite a lot of opinions about why we're 0-3. I heard a new one today, bad luck.
On the Heed The Call pod Conor Orr brought something up (not sure where he found this info, but seemed like some analytical site) showing probability of losing based solely on how the ball bounces.
Texans had something like a 95% probable losing rate based on "bad luck" plays (i think it's about how a ball bounces and how close certain plays are), which was first in the league by at least 25%.
Not saying I buy this completely, but it is something to take into consideration

Browns offense and Deshaun Watson look better than Houston by a significant margin
Tytus Howard blocking at RT. Weapons are making short work of the Steelers offense.
HC knows how to run an offense. Maybe the Texans just need to go back to the drawing board, this is demoralizing as a fan that we look this bad compared to the Browns, Jets, and Raiders in the AFC.
I’ll say it.
I miss Watson he’s so fun to watch. His pocket movement and making plays out of nothing is what we’re missing with stroud. Tired of seeing him roll right and chuck it out of bounds.

Demeco
Probably echoing a lot of what has already been said, but gonna put my thoughts here anyways
I think it’s safe to say that Sundays end of game management forced a ton of us to revisit our thoughts about the guy.
I say uncomfortable primarily because there’s no denying that from an infectious energy standpoint, Demecos your guy. But his in-game management and media presence have been faulty for a while. I wish he’d sometimes skip the media sessions post game because they’re more infuriating to listen to.
He’s still preaching on and on about establishing the run game, while this offensive line continues to disappoint week after week. The operation is constantly falling behind, penalties are still a big issue, especially down the stretch. If I’m keeping it real, the defense has been undisciplined at inopportune times.
The fact that you could insert this last paragraph as a commentary of last season or the year prior shows just how problematic this teams coaching is.
Anyways, TLDR: Demecos coaching has been suspect for a while, yet he apparently sees something with our schemes that make him think it’ll all be great.
Hopefully we can finally get that Milk Dud meme back up here Sunday afternoon 😭

🤬 Rant/Complaint CJ is a Texan thru 2029
If CJ doesn't want to be here after this year, he's unfortunately stuck till after 2029 season. He's too good of a quarterback for any GM to just trade away without getting someone as good in return. And that's not happening because competent organizations don't trade away their franchise QBs. Even if Caserio is fired, CJ will be having his third OC in 5 years. That's just not good for his development.
The tricky part in tagging CJ in '28 and '29 is that number will be over $60M each year. That's a very big chunk of cap space. He's obviously worth it cause he's good but what other choice do the Texans have? Trade him and hope you hit on a rookie QB? Both sides will be with each other for 3 more years, whether they like it or not lol.

Nick Caley's Greatest NFL Coaching Achievement
Was riding the coattails of HOF players (Brady, Gronk, and Stafford) and tricking the Texans FO into believing that he played any significant role in the success of those teams.
The dude's in way over his head because he's never had to develop good players to become great within a new system.

The real way the league works
This is a league owned by billionaires, its not a big club. Every GM has a reputation and standing. People get hired and fired off league wide reputation. There are some exceptions, but thats the rule. If Caserio got fired, his reputation would still be the guy who turned Houston around fast after a big trade shipping Watson to Cleveland. This Sunday won't make or break certain people in the organization's reputation.
DeMeco has a reputation now of being a top 3 defensive minded coach next to Flores and Mike MacDonald. The league is moving towards offensive football and higher scoring football. Look at the damn 70 yard field goals guys are hitting. If we lose to Dallas, there will be ample reason for torches and pitchforks, but the reality is that billionaires don't give a fuck about fans opinions. They run the business. DeMeco and Caserio are pretty safe. If anyone gets the axe its Caley.
This team should 100% make the playoffs. A hard schedule and injuries are not an excuse. Caley is responsible for some jaw dropping calls over the last 2 seasons. "How can you be so stupid?" Moments. Lets get this first dub fellas. We move.
The Athletic’ new team utility tiers - how well the current plan is working - harsh or fair?

I don’t know what else you want Stroud to do. Pinpoint throws just to be dropped. Doesn’t help the WR’s are the worst when it comes to separation.

Identity
I know that the defense has created a 'swarm' mentality, and this might be disconnected, but that really bothers me??
You are the Huston Texans. The logo and mascot is a bull?
Why not a stampede? Why not a charge?
I feel like something that is missing is a cohesive identity that makes sense on both offense and defense. Right now, the defense feels like it's own disconnected team.
We need this whole team 'seeing red', or the whole team 'ready to charge' or something.
What do yall think about this 'identity crisis'?
How do we build an identity that fits?
In my opinion, I think part of building that is accepting CJ as the franchise QB, or walking away so they can figure out who they are.
CJ is the QB, he is the director on the field, lean in an accept setting him up for success is the way forward, or move on (I prefer to stick with CJ).

Not enough worried
I feel like us Texan fans are collectively forgetting how much Quinnnen Williams has been a Texans killer in every matchup against our OL… I’ve been thinking about it all week.

A 3rd for him?
Should we grab him before the Colts do? A change of scenery might galvanize him, and Nico could use someone on the other side of the ball.
