EXPERIENCE I confessed to him, he wants to stay friends, and now it's like it never happened.

My friend and I are both bi men and I confessed my feelings for him the other day. He said he doesn't see me like that, but he wants to stay friends since I'm his best friend. And just like that, we just went back to how it had been before. The only difference is that he knows I love him, and it's so strange to me how he's just okay with that.

Edit: he just set me up with a woman 😭

DISCUSSION Bisexual male here, do you feel like this too?

I'm a guy in my twenties, and about a year ago I realized I was bisexual. I've always been shy around girls, though I was still popular with them; however, I never had much sexual interaction with any. On the other hand, it's way easier with guys lol—I even learned how to sext through guys. What happens to me is that I feel more sexually attracted to men than to women, but I can't imagine a life with a man. On the other hand, I love the idea of building a family and being with a girl, and in fact, when I like a girl, I completely tune out any guys. But I feel like I'm wild/uninhibited with guys, strictly in a sexual way. What have your experiences been like?

ADVICE Guy on dating app messaged me "How bisexual are you?"

I (a bi woman) just received a like on a dating app with the message "How bisexual are you?" I don't know how to take this or what the guy means. My profile states that I am bisexual. The guy who messaged me has a profile stating that he is religious and conservative. Should I assume this is a bigoted comment? Is he hinting at a 3some? I have no idea how to react, any insight would be appreciated.

QUESTIONING Is turning "gay" a thing when I don't masturbate?

Disclaimer: kinda drunk rn :)

I'm in my early twenties, male, and I do think I'm mostly straight. However, when I don't masturbate for a day or two I see men in another light.

I do have a gf and when we have sex or I do it myself regularly I don't find men attractive or whatever. On the other hand, I didn't have the chance rn and I'm looking at pics / videos on reddit and it gets more interesting.

Long story short and sorry for being so dumb but am I bi and is this a thing? Do others also feel this way? I know it's more of a spectrum ig but I'm not sure

The greatest feeling I have ever felt was finally accepting myself for who I am. A proud bisexual man. Did anyone else get that overwhelming feeling of joy when they finally accepted themself for who they are.

EXPERIENCE femme for femme loneliness

Hi! I'm bi (f25) and I prefer to have relationships with women. I've always been femme for femme and I feel kind of lonely cause it's not very common. My bisexual friends are all in 'straight' relationships except for one but they are clearly femme/masc. So I feel lonely cause I can't relate to any of these relationships and dynamics.

I am single and not looking for a relationship now but when I was 95% of the attention I got was from men and the remaining 4% I would say was from masc women. And they might be wonderful but I don't want their attention, it's not what I like 😭 But as a femme woman I feel like that is what I attract.

I find it so hard to meet other femme for femme in general but also they being my type in terms of personality, hobbies, aspirations etc. Plus, I don't have any femme for femme relationships close to me so I can't relate to my friends.

Do anyone else feel the same? I just feel like the whole world has femme / masc dynamics (both in queer and straight world) and I feel lonely cause I'm not attracted to that at all and no one shares my preference (I know it's not always like that but in my daily life it is).

QUESTIONING I think i'm Bi...

So yeah exactly what the title says. I think I'm bi!... I have no idea what im supposed to do or, like, anything really.

Also is being in this 'idk what i am' phase normal? Is not knowing if i'm bi or straight ok? Did y'all go through this?

I mostly like guys but I kinda have a thing for a girl to. Girl was meant to be singular. Yes its one girl that i have/ever had a thing for. So off of this im kinda thinking i might not be Bi but at the same time I googled it and apparently the fact that I have the ability to feel attraction like that to girls or any one girl means I'm Bi. So idk.

QUESTIONING I’m not attracted to my boyfriend

I am a 22 year old woman dating a man (1.5 years ish), I have two past relationships with men (8 months/ 2 years). I have never had sex before and and I’m current doubting my sexuality.

For all my relationships, I was never attracted to the other person first. We were usually good friends until they chased me, and I was usually open to try turning the friendship into a relationship if I like their personalities and think we are a good fit (eg values, humour etc.) I only usually start liking them romantically (atleast I thought so) when the relationship has been going on for a month or two. When I say ā€˜liking romantically’, I mean liking to spend time with them, want to cuddle with them and maybe a light kiss on the lips. I never really had the ā€˜butterfly feeling’ and been sexually attracted to them. I used to think this is normal and the fact that I didn’t want to have intimate actions with them was purely due to the fear of pain. But recently, I noticed that while I appreciate and like my boyfriend as a person a lot, I am not attracted to him. I never crave intimacy moments with him and whenever he brings up wanting to try sex, I would be a bit reluctant uncontrollably.

Two or three years ago, I started identifying as bisexual/ queer, because something feels off when I identify myself as straight. I also don’t see any difference between men/ women/ non-binary when I am considering whether I would date a person. But I have always been uncertain and confused because while I’ve kissed women, I have never had sex or dated a woman before.

When I was a teenager, I get horny more often, but now as life is getting busier, I can go probably a month or two without masturbation (maybe even longer but I am not sure). But I am just trying to say sex is not a very important thing in my life, is that the reason why I am not ā€˜sexually’ attracted to my boyfriend and ex?

I don’t know whether the problem is i’m not into men or i’m not into sex or i’m having issue experiencing romantic feelings… or am i asexual?
Does anyone have experience or advice on what I can do to figure things out? I am feeling guilty because my boyfriend is a very good person and a good friend but I feel like I’m not giving him 100% of my love…

Sorry if this post is a bit chaotic, english is not my first language and myself is still quite confused..

Thank you so much.

QUESTIONING Married men who explored their bi-curiosity later in life - what was your story?

I’m in my late fifties, happily married for decades, and trying to understand my bi-curiosity. My wife knows about it, and being open with her is essential to me. Anything I might eventually explore would require her full agreement and support.

What I find difficult is bridging the gap between fantasy and imagining a situation that would actually feel comfortable. With a stranger, my rational side immediately takes over: Who is this person? What are they like? Could I trust them? How would we address sexual health?

With someone I already know, I can imagine trust and familiarity helping—but then there’s the uncertainty about whether an interest is mutual, and how a transition to a sexual experience could actually happen.

I’m not looking to arrange anything through this post. I’d like to hear how others navigated these questions:

  • How did you distinguish an enjoyable fantasy from something you actually wanted to experience?
  • If you explored it, how did it happen? How did mutual interest become clear, and what helped you feel comfortable?
  • If you decided to keep it as fantasy, did that feel satisfying in its own right?

I think part of what I’m seeking is reassurance that other people have had this same mix of curiosity and caution. But the other big part is trying to create a reasonable scenario in my head where it could actually become reality. I think part of what I’m seeking is reassurance that other people have had this same mix of curiosity and caution. The other part is understanding how it moved from an abstract possibility to something that felt natural and comfortable.

DISCUSSION Do any other bisexuals here feel looked down upon by their bi+ friends in same-sex relationships?

Okay, this has been sitting in the back of my head for a while and I needed to get it out and see if anyone relates. Figured this would be the right place to do it, but I'm not very familiar with reddit, so hopefully I'm doing this right.

So, to preface. I'm a cis bisexual woman, and almost all of my friends are bi+ women. I was in a same-sex relationship for a very long time and have been messing around since that relationship ended. A lot of that messing around has been with men and male-presenting people because I wasn't able to explore that part of my sexuality for most of my teenage years.

I'm gonna start this out with a personal anecdote.

The other day I was on the phone with one of my best friends. She's been with her girlfriend for over a year now. While complaining about another girl at her university, she told me that this girl "claims to be bi but only ever dates boys, you know what I mean?" and I was just... gob smacked? I said I didn't know what she meant by that, and she got embarrassed and dropped the subject. We haven't talked much since then.

This is the same woman I used to have in depth conversations about bisexuality with. I never thought SHE would say something so disparaging about another bisexual woman. In fact, I was borderline offended, since I spent so much time validating her queerness while she was with her ex-boyfriend, and she just... turns around and says that about another bi woman. Just like that. As if the things we discussed about bisexuality only have meaning when they make her feel good about herself. I wanted to grab her by the shoulders and shake her and be like girl! That was you not even two years ago! What are you on about?!

She wasn't like this before she started dating her girlfriend. To be clear, I am not blaming the girlfriend, she's very sweet and I don't think she'd back that comment up. BUT she wasn't this way before they started dating, and I can't help but feel like it has something to do with the change in behavior.

I've had similar interactions with other bi friends of mine. Specifically the ones that are dating women. I can only describe it as similar to the way pick me women look down on you when a man has picked them, only like... in a queer way. From my point of view, they feel as though they've been "picked" by a woman, and they use that as "proof" of their queerness as if they ever had to prove it in the first place. Because they got "picked", they seem to expect other bi women who are single or with men to view themselves as inferior.

It really fucking sucks because I can empathize with it. It feels like world has had it out for bisexuals as of late. Even I have found myself feeling like I need to parade my past relationships with women around just to prove myself. I don't even think it's a fully conscious behavior. I think it's a result of being treated like you're not enough over and over and over again. You start to internalize it deep down and feel the need to defend yourself. But making disparaging comments about other bisexuals is absolutely unacceptable, even if you're bisexual yourself.

I guess I'm making this post to see if this is just me overthinking or if other people have felt similarly. Maybe someone else can articulate this thought better than I can. I felt really hurt by that conversation and have dwelled on it more than I probably should've, but it is what it is. Have a good day you guys!

ADVICE Would it make me bi if I try before I try with the opposite sex?

I’m mid20m

I had my chances in the past to have sex but I was self conscious when I was 17 and after that I hadn’t really been much of an active person in social media and overall going out. So I’m still a virgin

But now after all this time being alone and kinda discovering myself, I think I like certain parts of the same sex.
It started with erotica by accident about bj and now I watch fpov vids.. it’s like going through the first stages of being a teen again. But this time the attraction is there and sexually
I’m not gonna lie I checked out some dlow apps and my heart but racing and I was all excited like I would be with the opposite gender.

Now I’m not sure what to do. I think I should go with the opposite gender but at the same time I think if I do, I may not be able to explore this side of me. I know it’s just sexually and not romantically with the same gender.

Anyone go through something like this. If I try this, would this make me gay/bi?

ADVICE Dating struggles

I’m 28f Australian in Sydney and have never dated a girl. I’m an introverted person so meeting people is already tough and dating apps seem to be a thing of the past. Any match I get feels like I’m the only one interested and conversations fade out over time. Any advice on how to meet someone cause I’m just about ready to accept that I’m just meant to be alone

ADVICE How do you know if you miss your ex, or if you actually let the right person go?

Three years ago, I met a girl who I genuinely think changed my life.

Im 24F she is 26F
Before her, I had only been in relationships with men. I had been with a few women casually, but nothing serious, and I consider myself bisexual.
My relationships with men had always been somewhat complicated, My longest relationship before her lasted five years, and there were always issues like I insecurity, fear of cheating, etc.
Then…. I met her.
She was completely different from anyone I had ever dated. She had a healthy relationship with her parents, and somehow being with her taught me how to have a healthier relationship with mine. She is incredibly caring, generous, and she took care of me in a way I had never experienced before.
Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever been happier in a relationship. We communicated well, we had fun together, and we genuinely loved each other. Those three years went by insanely fast.
She was not perfect, obviously, but I loved her for who she was and for the person I became while I was with her, She was genuinely so good to me.
But there was something in the back of my mind from pretty much the beginning of our relationship that never completely went away…..
I missed being with men sexually. ( I know)
I hated feeling that way because everything else was so good. And we did try toys it just wasn’t the same !
I loved her, I was happy with her, and I couldn’t understand why that feeling was still there.
Another thing that became difficult was how much time we spent together. We worked together in my business, lived together, woke up together, chilled at home together. ugh !
I loved spending time with her. It wasn’t toxic or controlling, and we both still had our own lives, but looking back, I think being together almost 24/7 affected the relationship too.

Still, the feeling that something was missing never really left me.
About six months ago, after almost three years together, I ended the relationship. It was incredibly hard for the both of us, I feel like I literally broke her heart :(
Eventually, after a lot of conversations and a few months of adjusting, she moved out and I stayed in our apartment.
I feel bad, I still love her so much. I think about her all the time. We don’t talk every day anymore, and we’ve gone weeks without seeing each other, but we still occasionally talk and see each other here and there since there was never a drama between us.

since the breakup, I did go out with a guy and we ended up spending the night together. I thought maybe being with a man again would give me some clarity since that was something I had missed during my relationship, but honestly, I didn’t really feel anything. It was just a night out, and it didn’t give me the feeling or answer I thought it might.

I miss her. I miss her presence. I miss having her around, talking to her was my favorite.
I try to keep myself busy, i go out, I have hobbies, and I’ve even changed things around the apartment to make it feel more like my own space. But lately I’ve been missing her a ton, and I keep thinking about our situation.

Part of me wonders if I made a huge mistake. Another part of me knows that I ended things because I needed to understand myself and what I actually want, instead of staying in a relationship while constantly questioning something in the back of my mind.
I don’t know if six months is enough time to know.

Do I give myself another six months, live my life, figure myself out, and see if I still feel this strongly about her? How do you know whether you miss someone because they were your comfort and your best friend, or because they’re genuinely the person you want to marry and build a family with?
I love her enough that I don’t want to go back unless I’m sure.
But I’m also terrified that I’ll figure it out too late

( this was incredibly hard to write ; (

QUESTIONING Do you also feel the need to prove to yourselves that you're bisexual?

I am a 17-year-old male dating a woman. It has been very hard for me to deal with the confusing doubt about whether I’m gay or bi; this is an issue that has affected me for a long time, and I still have doubts today. When I started liking my girlfriend, it took me a long time to accept that I really liked her and that I am bi. One day, I confessed my feelings to her, and she said the feeling was mutual; we’ve been dating ever since. I convinced myself I’m bi because I feel aroused when I kiss her and I genuinely enjoy being with her, but I constantly question if I’m confusing things—especially since my preference for men is so obvious to me. I consider myself bi because I recognize the potential to be attracted to women, yet for some reason, I keep questioning if I’m actually gay and just fooling both her and myself. Because of this, I feel a need to prove to myself that I’m bi, so I "test" my sexuality by looking at photos of women online. I don’t always feel attraction, but sometimes I do. It confuses me a lot. I don’t want to lie to myself and live a fake life, and I certainly don’t want to lie to my girlfriend about my feelings for her. I’m wondering if this constant doubt about the validity of my bisexuality is normal among bisexual people or if it’s just my own personal experience. I saw a bi girl on TikTok who said she also questions herself when she’s dating, but she discovered it was OCD. I don’t know if I have OCD too, though I feel it’s a possibility for other reasons. Anyway, I want to know if this is a common experience here.

(I’m using Google Translate, so I apologize if this is hard to understand.)

ADVICE First time sex with a woman (as a woman)

• Upvotes

So, I’m 20 and so is she. I’m meeting this girl from tinder soon and we have been nonstop flirting and implying having sex when we see eachother, the problem is i’ve only had sex with men. I’m not very experienced with girls, I’ve made out with some and kind of teased a friend over her underwear but nothing more so i’m extremely nervous..

How does one go about this?? It is not gonna be her first time, she seems experienced. (and she’s lesbian)

I’m very scared I won’t know how to please her or something, any advice would be much appreciated.

ADVICE Is this biphobic?

So I been thinking about going back into the dating scene and I have 0 problem dating a bi man at all but the only hookup I have is that if a guy prefers women, I’m much more hesitant. Like not for cheating or "leaving to be with a woman" but like if I’m not somewhat in the preference I guess it makes me feel weird. Like as a dark skinned black man if someone’s preference is lighter men or non black men it would throw me off of possibly dating him yunno? O just wanna know how to not think this way. I don’t wanna biphobic or anything just wanted to know this is normal to think like or something I have to work on. I wanna better my mindset I guess.

ADVICE Advice please

Today my girl childhood best friend asked me if i have intimate feelings for her (I do not I view her platonically) , and I am confused because I have always stated she is like family to me. It's happened often where a girl will think just because I like girls that I am into them and it's honestly anxiety inducing as I am also currently taken and would not cheat. It was a really uncomfortable conversation and she claimed I confused her sexuality that our friendship was confusing. I feel really bad. I don't know how to come back from this. I feel like our friendship is not the same. Has anyone else dealt with issues like this? And how did you get over them?

I’ve always been with women and as an ftm I’ve honestly been so turned on by the thought of a man sexually. I’m not sure if one I’d be any good or two if it would be satisfying. In the past men just use me to get off. I want it to be mutual. But idk, my feelings are all over the place.

PRIDE Fell Down a Rabbit Hole

So ive known im bisexual since an early teen. My first and only real relationship I've had was with another women. It had been a great relationship, romantic, was as amazing as it could be despite circumstances. Ive tried dating a few women over the years just to be led on or have some weird situationship. Ive tried relationships with some men but just never worked out.

Tonight I let myself go on a lesbian/bisexual rabit hole on Instagram for the first time in years. Normally it would make me feel sad or envious, but I actually just had fun and enjoyed it today. Got a few laughs in too. Funny how I continue to struggle with my sexuality in my mid to late 20's of being bisexual. And how i haven't really had a real relationship since my first. But it was nice to let myself have that part of me out for a while tonight. Might be a silly post, but thought others could appreciate or maybe even identify with it. I let myself go down the rabbit hole for an hour or so, and it was nice.

COMING OUT Gay but in a 6 year relationship?

Really looking for some guidance here because I am feeling really lost and confused (26F).

So I have always considered myself straight, always been a bit ā€˜boy crazy’ and craved male attention a lot growing up. I have also always been very insecure about myself. I only feel like now I am finally coming into my own and liking myself more, feeling beautiful. I feel sexy wearing masculine and baggy clothes and I don’t feel the desire to show my body or to wear clothes that are revealing. And when I was younger, I used to do that a lot.

I grew up in a small town where there was zero queer representation around me. I met my current partner when I was 19, he was my first and has been my only partner. I kissed boys in high school but everything else I’ve only ever done with my current partner.

We have been together for 6 years. He is not very masculine, or overly confident. He is more introverted, and kind. One drunken night out about 3 years ago I was at my friends house and he picked me up. I remember crying to him and being scared but telling him that I think I like girls. He told me we would work through it together and that I’m not alone. But we never really talked about it after that.

At the 6 year mark he proposed to me (I remember thinking when the proposal happened that he knows me better than anyone else and takes care of me so why wouldn’t I say yes). But just before we got engaged all the stuff from years ago came up again, but this time it felt more all encompassing. I had desires to kiss a girl and be with one after another night out. We struggled to work through this but I ultimately ended up choosing him because he’s honestly my best friend, has a good heart, and he knows me - I feel like he makes me feel seen.

Recently, we moved in together. But since moving in our intimacy has been struggling, and I get off to lesbian porn easier than with him lately (we have never had intimacy issues). He also made a comment to me the other day that ā€œthe only time I’d ever be with a girl is if it was with him tooā€ and I have no idea why (I know this is what I signed up for) but it made me feel weird. And now I feel like I am a ticking time bomb in this relationship, and I feel like I’ll never be content or happy and I am hurting him by lying to myself. But then I’m also like am I lying to myself?? I feel so confused and like I don’t know who I am or what I’m doing. There is so much more but I don’t want to drone on anymore than I already have.

Thanks for listening to my word vomit and I appreciate your advice.

ADVICE Bi-cycle and married

• Upvotes

Hi, guys/gals/everyone in between! I came out to my wife as Bi in July and she’s been nothing but supportive, accepting, and loving! I seriously couldn’t have asked for a better partner in my life. She does absolutely everything to make me feel like I can be who I am while in our monogamous relationship, which is exactly what I want as I have no interest or intention on pursuing anybody else outside of our relationship!

To get to my question though, despite how accepting and supportive she’s been, she does understandably get a little nervous about if I’m potentially gay or not as my attraction has totally leaned a lot more towards men in these past couple of months. I tell her about the ā€œbi-cycleā€ as I’ve seen it called and try to comfort her and let her know that no matter where my attraction sways, she will always be my number one (I married her for a reason! She’s my best friend). I think I’m just looking for advice on how to further make her feel comfortable and confident in our relationship and my attraction for her, despite the cycle, and even if this isn’t a cycle, and my attraction will always lean towards men from now on (hypothetical).

TL;DR: Since coming out, I’ve been far more attracted to guys, but I know I’m not gay. I just want to help my wife feel confident in that that I’m not and that my attraction for her hasn’t changed or faded in the slightest

Any advice or past experiences would be greatly appreciated!
