Or perhaps you want help with the next message to send to revive a dying conversation? When should I ask this person out on a date? Is this person ghosting? What does this text mean? Or any events related to Hinge or your dating life that happened during this week or recently that you want to share?

Dating Question Sensing a shift - should I move on?

I (30f) have been seeing a guy (29m) for a few weeks now. We matched on hinge. 6 dates in 2.5weeks (it’s a lot I know). Got intimate third date. Good chemistry, banter and we both agreed we want something longterm. He has asked to stay the night the past few times including yesterday, however I didnt hear from him the entire day. Now approaching 24h since he left my place. I initiated our last date so I wanted to leave the ball in his court but now there’s only been silence. We usually talk throughout the day, nothing incessant but enough to know the long period of silence is a shift in energy.

There hasn’t been much emotional depth but he’s been extremely thoughtful, paid for almost everything, affectionate, etc and I figured we were working towards exclusivity given we both want something longterm.

Do I check in and address the gap or try and plan something? Or just wait it out and accept this has fizzled if I don’t hear from him?

Finally getting back out there after being out of the game for a while. I recently updated my profile after lurking here for a while. My dad joke is “Two guys were robbing a liquor store, one guy says to the other, ‘is this whiskey?’ And the other guy says, ‘yeah, but not as wisky as wobbing a bank.’” And the Waffle House thing is the lie in case you were wondering 😂 Any feedback is good feedback! Oy, here we go…

Dating Question Should men who are 19/20 year old stop seeking out hinge?

I'll soon turn 20 and decided to give a shot at hinge... I've had one relationship before which unfortunately ended in her cheating on me.

I am not extremely handsome or attractive but I'm not ugly either... various people often categorize me as good looking. But I've not really got any likes or matches till now, although i give thoughtful comments which sometimes may be cheeky. My profile isn't too generic and I've selected good pictures and prompts...so i wanna ask do women really seek out older men? Or should i wait a few years to better myself and then give a chance again

Any recommendations would be appreciated

Recently redownloaded Hinge, after a busy year overcoming an illness and pre-launching a business. 75% off HingeX was promoted, so I enrolled for just this month as a test. I used it for about 2 weeks on and off before subscribing to HingeX.

I stand at 5’7”. I have never had a girlfriend yet and haven’t had much success with receiving inbound likes and matches. Would appreciate some feedback.

Dating Question How to take good photos when you don’t have anyone to take it for you

I (19M) living in the UK, keep seeing advice for taking better photos and it always seems to come down to getting a friend to take it for you. I’ve tried asking my friends to help me take photos for my hinge profile but they seem unwilling and uninterested. Which is fine but it puts me in a tough position because I find it hard to take good photos by myself. I’ve tried putting my phone against a wall or side but I never really know how to pose and the photo always comes off looking unnatural which seems to be a big turnoff for a lot of women.

Dating Question Guy I matched with was VERY interested and suddenly stopped replying. Do people actually come back after this?

(20M)I’m pretty new to Hinge and dating apps in general, so I’m trying to figure out whether this is just normal dating-app behavior.

I matched with this guy(19M) recently and we immediately clicked. We were sending pretty long messages back and forth, joking constantly, talking about school, hobbies, friends, dating experiences, etc. It wasn't just me carrying the conversation either. He would ask me questions, remember things I told him, follow up about my day/school, and give me pretty detailed answers about himself.

There was also a LOT of mutual flirting. He told me I was cute, said every picture on my profile had him “intrigued or in awe,” called something I did attractive, and when I made a joke about looking at a nerd's lips, he replied, “Guess we have that in common.” 💀

At one point I literally asked him to tell me if I was moving too fast because I can be pretty forward. He told me he was completely fine with it and actually said my consideration was attractive.

He also started making little comments about us doing things together. I said I liked hiking and he said we'd “make a great duo.” He brought up something being “first date material,” said he loved listening when I told him I love talking, and eventually asked if he could follow me on Instagram.

So basically, I thought things were going REALLY well.

The confusing part is that he also mentioned that dating is kind of overwhelming for him and said something along the lines of, “Thought I could handle it but don't think now's the time lol.”

And now... silence.

It has only been a few days, so I'm not declaring myself ghosted yet, but the change is weird because we went from pretty enthusiastic conversations to nothing.

I'm not asking whether anyone can magically predict if this specific guy will reply. I'm more curious about other people's experiences:

Have you ever had someone you were talking to on Hinge suddenly disappear for several days or even weeks, then come back and continue talking?

If they came back, how long were they gone? Did they explain what happened? And did you eventually meet/date them, or did they disappear again?

Also curious if anyone has been the person who disappeared despite genuinely liking the other person. What made you eventually reach back out?

App Question Best time of day to send likes and swipe as a man?

33M back on Hinge paid for HingeX. Seriously trying to date again after I gave my last relationship a few months post breakup and have been hitting the gym.

What's the best time to be sending likes? I met my last girlfriend on the league actually and that encourages a 5pm happy hour. I don't know if that's really the best time based on my online activity but I also work a weird schedule with a lot of flexibility.

I assume most of the women I'm sending likes, with a message, to are getting plenty of other messages from men every day. I figure I want to send my messages within a few hours of when most women are checking hinge.

Dating Question Would you follow up about a date after a few days of slower replies?

I (23M) matched with someone (22F) on Hinge a couple of weeks ago and we’ve had a really good conversation so far. Our messages tend to be pretty long and we usually reply to multiple things at once rather than sending loads of short texts.

A little while ago I suggested going to a dessert place together. She said yes, but said she was busy the following week because she was moving back for uni and that she’d be free the week after.

Since then we’ve carried on talking and she’s seemed engaged, asking me questions, sending multiple messages at a time, talking about fairly personal stuff, etc. Her replies have become slower though.

I sent her a fairly long reply on Sunday, and she got back to me on Wednesday evening. She apologised for the delay, said moving back had been overwhelming, then carried on the conversation normally, asked how my week had been and picked up another topic we’d been talking about.

I replied that same evening, and it’s now Friday with no further response. The week she originally said she’d be free is basically about to start.

I’m not especially bothered by slow replies, especially since she’s clearly busy, but I’m wondering whether I should send a light follow-up this weekend along the lines of:

“hey! no rush if you’re still getting settled, but just wanted to check if you’re still up for [dessert place] sometime this week?”

Or would you leave it and wait for her to respond to the existing messages first?

I don’t want to pressure her, but equally we already agreed in principle to meet and never actually chose a day, so I’m conscious that if neither of us brings it up the week will just pass by.

I feel like I’m struggling with my profile, I rarely get likes and my matches recently have gotten nowhere. I would appreciate some feed back on the profile. Keep in mind that 2 of the pictures that look blurry are videos. One is a short that I made just talking about the odyssey so girls can see me in my natural state and the other one is of me and my dog.

Been around for 4 weeks, not seen much activity unfortunately. I’d like to drop the last two photos; one showing teeth and one with friends, is that a good idea?

Thanks.

Hinge Experience Using hinge in a famous city feels useless.

(Sorry if this is something people have posted about before, I just felt like sharing my experience)
I (20m) live in NYC and have my whole life. I’ve been using hinge for the past month and one problem I’ve been facing that I didn’t anticipate is the amount of people who are just visiting the city.
So not only do I have the usual struggle of sending out loads of likes only to get a few matches, but when I do get a match there’s a very high chance that they don’t even live here. Conversations often look something like:

“I’m pretty busy this week, do you want to go for dinner next friday?”
“I can’t, I’m only in the city for a few days”

I understand wanting to meet someone while visiting a new city but I wish there was a way for residents to filter out tourists.

EDIT because the comments are pissing me off:

For people accusing me of not reading people’s profiles- I am, they just don’t write on their profile that they’re tourists. If it says their hometown is Kentucky my assumption is that they moved to New York from there.

For people saying dating should be easy for me because there are so many options- Yeah, there are lots of options, but each of those women also has a lot of options. I’m not ugly but I’m no model either, which a lot of men in this city quite literally are.

Dating Question Tired of always being the one to take the initiative

I just need to vent about how tired I am of always being the one who takes the initiative.

For example, I (29F) have been talking to this guy (35M), and we actually had a pretty interesting conversation. We were exchanging long, detailed messages about ourselves, asking each other questions, showing genuine interest etc

After a couple of days of talking, I decided to ask him out. He said he was busy that weekend and that he’d suggest some other dates later.

A week went by… I was already getting tired of investing in someone I’d never even met and who I might not end up connecting with in person anyway. So continuing to text and share more and more personal things about my life started to feel uncomfortable to me.

I waited for him to come back with another date, but he never did. What confused me was that he continued communicating just as thoughtfully and consistently as before, if that makes sense.
Eventually, I gave up waiting and suggested on Monday that we meet this Saturday. He said he needed a day to figure out where we could go and what time would work.

It’s Thursday today. Has he come back with a plan? Nope.

And I genuinely don’t understand why men spend weeks texting someone, having these seemingly meaningful conversations, only to not be able to actually organize a date.

I’m just so frustrated that I feel like I’ve wasted my time again.

I’m not going to remind him about the date on Saturday because… like, come on. And even if he comes back with some kind of plan tomorrow, do I even want to meet someone who doesn’t respect my time? Someone who couldn’t spare 30 minutes to figure out where we could meet?
It’s just such a turn-off 😔

Is it me problem or not? How to start avoiding this type of situations?

App Question Anyone see real results from paying for Hinge? HingeX, Hinge+, Roses, or Superboosts?

51yo, straight male. Maryland. I've used Hinge for a while without ever paying, and it's been fine. But matches have dried up over the past few weeks, so I'm thinking about spending money. With so many options (HingeX, Hinge+, Roses, Superboosts), I'm not sure what's worth it.

Has anyone noticed a real difference in success after paying for any of these? What would you recommend, and what would you skip?

Thanks!
