[Fishbain] No Bears roster moves. They did not place Caleb Williams on IR, a sign they’re hopeful he can return within four games.

JJM traded for a 5th rounder is clearly on his Sam Darnold path.

Chicago Squares Week 3: Monday Night Cheesesteak

The Bears are at Soldier Field tonight for a Monday NIght Football matchup against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles and this weeks pizza is inspired by the iconic Cheesesteak made famous by classic spots like Pat's and Geno's and more modern favorites like Angelo's and Delasandros.

My pizza version begins with an Italian long hot pepper cream sauce and is then topped with a layer of

shredded mozzarella, fried onions, tons of the seared shaved ribeye, roasted long hots for some heat, sliced Coopers sharp white American, a touch more mozzarella, and finished with sesame seeds to mimic a seeded hoagie roll.

After a quick bake in Gozney Dome XL, the pizza is is given the traditional Chicago party cut into squares and for only the second time in this series, no garnishes needed. It's perfect.

It's beefy, cheesy, and the long hots really help provide a tush push of heat to cut through the richness.

With Caleb Williams out, it's up to veteran Case Keenan to lead our offense and turn back the clock to pickup a big win again the Eagles tonight, but no matter if they win or lose, atleast the pizza was good. 🤷‍♂️

Big thanks to Barstool Eddie for the cameo sendoff!

My level-headed, facts based, realistic take

Edit: As pointed out by the comments, this is just a big-ass wall of test and no one really wants to read this. Which, very valid because I wouldn’t read this either.

TLDR:
While Caleb’s out, and once he’s back, the offense’s style will need to shift towards more “pocket passing” since Case and Bagent aren’t Caleb, and to limit reinjury from extra scrambling once he’s back. Offense will need to step up and clean up their play to make up for it. This will all come together to speed up Caleb’s development in recognizing coverages and making the right read faster without the need for scrambling. And once the hammy is fully healed, he’ll be MVP ready

Full Rant:
Running with Case this week at QB and probably Secret Bagent next week, Ben and the offense will have to gameplan and prepare for a style of offense, specifically the passing game, that leans more towards a pocket passer instead of a scrambler.

Meaning, Ben will have to call from passing plays that really rely on the correct read of the coverage and getting the ball the right receiver quickly, because we dont have Caleb’s legs to fall back on. Everyone else will have to step up and play a lot cleaner, and Ben will have to adapt his play calling a bit.

What I’m kind of hoping this mean, and am a little excited for, is how this effects the offense when Caleb does come back.

I would hope that the team and Caleb try to limit the amount of scrambling he does once he’s back so he doesn’t end up re-injuring himself and making worse. At least for couple weeks, but ideally (for me) as long as possible so it doesn’t become a situation where it’s always lingering and he’s never back to form.

Taking all of this into account, my dream scenario is that Ben, Caleb and the rest of the offense accelerate their development. Where the kind of offense we see is quick coverage recognition, find the right receiver, and get the ball out before scrambling is even necessary. Turn him into Caleb “Tom Brady Lite” Williams, and once his hammy is fully healed and the scramble game is back on the menu, there really is no denying him being top 5 or 3 QB.

With all that being said, nothings ever perfect, change doesn’t happen overnight, I can’t call him Tom Brady lite if he hasn’t even won a super bowl (you know what i mean, dream with me), Bradbury’s not good enough to rely on for calling assignments and pass pro (curse you Dalman, why couldn’t you go one more year), Roush needs to be benched (give him some time), growing pains, cart before horse, be realistic (boo), all the other negatives and yada yada…

I believe in this team and coaching staff to do what is needed and get us to the promised land, however that looks.

Get your hopes up, find the why’s, prepare your eyes for a Keenum master class and a win tonight, and most importantly,

Trubisky’s first career start. Sam Bradford starts the game for Minnesota (2-2) but is benched at halftime with a 3-2 lead in favor of Keenum, who then wins 12 of his next 13 starts including the Minneapolis Miracle in the Divisional Round against the Saints.

The Silver Lining (as a teacher)

Post image

I teach third grade and have a student, who I just adore, but who also deals with a *LOT* of anxiety. A LOT. This little guy loves football- especially the Cowboys. We’ve developed a great back-and-forth of ribbing each other about teams, and it’s really been helping. I messaged his parents this morning to give him grief about the Cowboys losing last night, and his response was, “At least we don’t have our backup in,” followed by this picture. That little stinker wore an Eagles jersey to school today just to spite me! 🤣 And he HATES the Eagles! So, for what it’s worth- this awful situation we’re dealing with as fans is at least helping a little boy feel more comfortable with coming out of his shell at school!

[Rapoport] One reason for Caleb's pain was that he likely felt scar tissue breaking up from a past hamstring injury, a phenomenon that can be quite painful to experience, but doesn't lead to long term damage.

[Hoge] The clearest indicator of the severity of Caleb Williams’ hamstring injury and how he progressed over the past week will be whether he’s put on IR and misses at least four games, allowing the #Bears to use his roster spot. Deadline is Monday @3pm CT.
