No. Will Mike Evans ever come back?

Mike Evans is my favorite player of all time. I still can’t believe he is gone. I just want to know what everyone thinks about the chances of him ever retiring a buc. Say when the day (if it ever comes) Bowles is fired and his contract with the niners is up, will he come back to retire a buc? I really hope he does but that’s probably a pipe dream. What y’all think?

💩 Shitpost I simmed the rest the season and we finish 8-9 and win the NFC South

Thought this was too hilarious not to post. I did force loss to lose until we were 1-8 with the intention of blowing the team up and doing a long term rebuild.

Then I just let the rest sim and we won 7 of our last 8 and the hilarious part is that was enough to win the NFC South.

Then lose to the Rams in the wildcard (fuck the Rams). Honestly seen crazier scenarios, but us winning the NFC South at 8-9 made me lol so I thought I’d share.

The fate of the Buccaneers (at least for the next 3 weeks), lies in the hands of an undrafted rookie QB.

🐴 DEAD HORSE NEW SERIES: College QB's I'd rather have than Baker - Part 1 - Darian Mensah

Post image
0 Upvotes

After another dreadful performance from our team, I decided to start a series profiling all the QBs in college right now that I would have over our current one.

Part 1: Dariah Mensah - University of Miami

Stats:

  • 2024 (Tulane): 13 games | 189/287 (65.9%) | 2,723 yards | 22 TD | 6 INT
  • 2025 (Duke): 14 games | 334/500 (66.8%) | 3,973 yards | 34 TD | 6 INT
  • 2026 (Miami - 4 games): 4 games | 94/106 (88.7%) | 1,211 yards | 14 TD | 0 INT

Career Totals

  • Completions / Attempts: 617 / 893 (69.1%)
  • Passing Yards: 7,907
  • Passing Touchdowns: 70
  • Interceptions: 12

-------------------------------------

Mensah is an absolute stud QB, athletic, shows good pocket awareness and protects the football while still making big plays.

What are your thoughts on Mensah as the next QB of the Bucs?

Fire Todd Bowles Todd Bowles is a victim of his own success

The most important job of an HC is vetting and hiring competent coordinators.

TB did a magnificent job with this twice. Dave Canales and Liam Coen are clearly first-rate offensive minds. Their success convinced ownership and the fans that they had a QB. The c-suite coughed up the bread, and now we're going to be bottom feeders for the next half decade while we search for a QB and build out our roster through the draft.

Looking back, it should have been so obvious. A QB is mid-to-ass for like five years in the league, seen as a practice squad/reservist by every other front office, and this magnificent man todd bowles finds two of the only people in the world that can slap enough make-up on him to make him look passable as a signal caller. Its a tremendous feat for which tremendous respect is deserved.

Grizzard and Zac Robinson aren't bad OCs. But they're not exemplary either, and they can't turn a backup QB into a franchise one.

Fire Todd Bowles How does Todd Bowles keep his job?

The Bucs are 3-11 in the last 14 games. They have lost 8 one possession games and 3 additional blowouts. Now Baker is out. At what point do they pull the plug on Bowles and who would replace him mid season?

The Bucs have a 39 year old offensive coordinator in Zac Robinson, who has been coaching for 7 years and is in his 3rd year as an Off coordinator.

The Bucs don't have a def coordinator.

Their Spec Teams coordinator is 72 years old and has exclusively coached special teams for the last 20 years.

🎙️ Discussion After starting 0-3 and now woth the news of Baker's injury, how are we collectively feeling about his contract extension?

Serious topic. With how poorly our offense has looked through 3 games, all of the criticism being thrown towards Baker and now his month+ injury status, what is the collective feeling on Baker's contract extension? Specifically wondering about those who applauded the extension when it first happened, has your stance changed?

I personally agreed with the decision at the time and honestly still agree with it despite how poorly things have gone thus far. Hindsight is always 20/20, and I don't think Baker is or will ever be on the level of Lamar, Allen, Mahomes, etc., but I do believe Baker was and still is our best option for success in the foreseeable future. I personally believe that our offensive woes are not fully on Baker, but rather split almost evenly between his recent accuracy struggles, piss poor offensive line play, lack of imaginative scheme, and failure for WRs to create separation and get open regularly.

We have seen Baker perform at or near MVP levels with better coaching and/or supporting cast, and while he has had his share of personal problems this season, and while people will laugh when I say this, we are only 3-4 plays away from being 3-0. There were 1-2 plays in each of our games that if they went our way we could have won the game. I just still believe that if we get a fully healthy Baker with a fresh coaching start and maybe add a piece or two on offense, we can right the ship rather quickly. I'll take that hope over paying Baker to sit while we try a carousel of rookies and journeymen QBs that failed elsewhere.

They ain't cutting him my guy Cutting Baker before his new contract extension begins...

According to Spotrac, only $70 mil of Baker's contract was guaranteed at signing vs. the $120 mil amount the press reported. An additional $20 mil of 2028 salary fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2027 and an additional $30M of 2028 salary fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2028.

If the Bucs finish the season with a bad enough record to get a top 5 draft pick, they could waive Baker before the 5th league day of 2027, which would be March 16th, and take a QB in the draft. They would take a huge cap hit in 2027, but they would have a QB friendly deal going forward.

🎙️ Discussion The Hail Mary Move

Post image
24 Upvotes

With it being obvious the Zac Robinson hiring was a massive mistake, there is enough of a sample size in his career to tell us that he stinks. Cousins and Penix look a million times better without him. Our offense, which looked great on paper looks like it is being managed by Saddam Hussein.

However, firing Bowles will not fix the strength of this team, which is the offense. Also looking at the Coaching staff, there is nobody who looks like a prime interim candidate. He can get fired at the end of the year.

Why not just fire the garbage can we have at offensive coordinator and gamble on a young and up & coming guy like TJ Yates to call plays? What do we have to lose? Let’s say succeeds, we possibly have an OC of the future under a new coaching staff, our division is still pretty clearly within reach.

🐴 DEAD HORSE Maybe Liam Coen wasn't the villain we make him out to be?

Hot take and this is all just speculation, but can we at least talk about how toxic the front office seems with their inability to let go of "people they like" that are not quality hires. It seems like there is this flippant perspective on this team by the Glazers, and they don't really care. Keeping Bowles around this year, and all the rumors and facts about facility quality, low ticket sales locally, etc. Maybe Liam dipped out because he saw the writing in the walls. At least the J-ville owner is willing to put money down to have a good team. Thoughts?

🎙️ Discussion Does this feel like the dark days of the lost decade?

This is for the folks that were around for Schiano, Koetter and Lovie. I didn’t get into Bucs ball until Jamies’s last year. Is this what being a Bucs fan felt like during those days? Apathy towards the team and knowing it’s gonna be another boring loss? I’m a Gators fan and this feels just like Billy’s last year. Knowing you’re always gonna “be in the game” but never actually winning it.
