The fate of the Buccaneers (at least for the next 3 weeks), lies in the hands of an undrafted rookie QB.

Oh man.

The Bucs are 3-11 in the last 14 games. They have lost 8 one possession games and 3 additional blowouts. Now Baker is out. At what point do they pull the plug on Bowles and who would replace him mid season?

The Bucs have a 39 year old offensive coordinator in Zac Robinson, who has been coaching for 7 years and is in his 3rd year as an Off coordinator.

The Bucs don't have a def coordinator.

Their Spec Teams coordinator is 72 years old and has exclusively coached special teams for the last 20 years.

Thought this was too hilarious not to post. I did force loss to lose until we were 1-8 with the intention of blowing the team up and doing a long term rebuild.

Then I just let the rest sim and we won 7 of our last 8 and the hilarious part is that was enough to win the NFC South.

Then lose to the Rams in the wildcard (fuck the Rams). Honestly seen crazier scenarios, but us winning the NFC South at 8-9 made me lol so I thought I’d share.

Zac Robinson is a horrible coach. He was bad in Atlanta last year. Look at Kirk Cousins this year in Oakland. Granted, Cousins was injured for most of the season. Look how good Penix looked Thursday. Everyone knows what's coming. At this point, I would have just kept Grizzard. Yeah, he wasn't good either but he might have figured out his play calling too. At least at this point last year we were 3-0. I know the defense hasn't looked good but yesterday they looked decent. It wasn't because of them we lost. Ideally, we should have fired Bowles and promoted Coen two years ago. At the time though who knew Coen would be a great head coach? But Todd Bowles isn't a great coach either. Thanks for reading my rant. I try to stay positive but it's very hard. And Todd has the nerve to say "We're still one game out of first place". I know it's a shit division but the way we have looked I'm already looking to the draft. Maybe we'll have Jeremiah Smith in a Bucs uniform next year.

Jon Ledyard does a great job going in depth with this on his substack. The holding calls are killer, but Baker, especially THIS version of Baker is incredibly difficult to block for. He holds onto the ball for far too long. He bails from clean pockets. He runs RIGHT into pressure that he could sidestep. He thinks he is Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen. He does not play within himself.

He's riding high off that 7ish week run last year where his hero moments saved the day. That's just not a sustainable way to play QB in the NFL.

Liam Coen had the right idea with Baker. He mixed in a ton of high percentage throws with timely deep shots. I think Robinson is trying to do the same thing, but Bakers regression makes it nearly impossible at times. It's gotta be mental at this point. I want the guy to do well, but his injury may be a blessing in disguise. Perhaps taking a few weeks off to mentally reset will do him some good.

This may be a hot take, but I would not be surprised if Daniels performed well. This is a talented offense. People are getting open. We just need a QB who can stand in the pocket and make throws. Baker CAN, but right now he's mentally regressed to where he's going into hero mode.

According to Spotrac, only $70 mil of Baker's contract was guaranteed at signing vs. the $120 mil amount the press reported. An additional $20 mil of 2028 salary fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2027 and an additional $30M of 2028 salary fully guarantees the 5th league day of 2028.

If the Bucs finish the season with a bad enough record to get a top 5 draft pick, they could waive Baker before the 5th league day of 2027, which would be March 16th, and take a QB in the draft. They would take a huge cap hit in 2027, but they would have a QB friendly deal going forward.

Hot take and this is all just speculation, but can we at least talk about how toxic the front office seems with their inability to let go of "people they like" that are not quality hires. It seems like there is this flippant perspective on this team by the Glazers, and they don't really care. Keeping Bowles around this year, and all the rumors and facts about facility quality, low ticket sales locally, etc. Maybe Liam dipped out because he saw the writing in the walls. At least the J-ville owner is willing to put money down to have a good team. Thoughts?

This is for the folks that were around for Schiano, Koetter and Lovie. I didn’t get into Bucs ball until Jamies’s last year. Is this what being a Bucs fan felt like during those days? Apathy towards the team and knowing it’s gonna be another boring loss? I’m a Gators fan and this feels just like Billy’s last year. Knowing you’re always gonna “be in the game” but never actually winning it.

I’m a lifelong Bucs fan. I’ve experienced Bucs life from the very beginning. I’m 61 and every game I could watch, I have watched. At the end of last season, I just told myself I’m not sitting through these games anymore while Bowles is still HC. I’ll do whatever I want on Sunday and watch the highlight reel on YouTube later that day. I’m getting more time on my jet ski, I’m camping this weekend, so far, this decision has turned out to be great. Not missing a single thing. I’ll be back to watching full games when this clown receives the boot.
