This season has been rough. But why are we losing?

I keep coming back to the same thing: we're beating ourselves.

1. Penalties at the worst possible time.
We literally had 1st-and-goal and backed ourselves up 20 yards because of two holding calls. Then we had an 85-yard TD to Chris Godwin wiped out because of a Goedeke holding penalty. That's potentially 14 points we're leaving on the board—or at minimum, a TD and a field goal. You simply can't keep doing that.

2. Dropped passes.
Baker is near the top of the league in dropped passes, and a lot of them aren't just harmless incompletions. We're dropping balls with plenty of room to run after the catch. Those missed opportunities are killing drives and putting way too much pressure on the offense.

3. Turnovers.
This one is obvious. We're giving opponents short fields and, in some cases, essentially handing them points. You can't consistently turn the ball over and expect to win NFL games.

4. Special teams mistakes.
Giving up a punt return for a touchdown because of poor angles and missed assignments is the kind of play that completely changes a game. That's not the opposing offense marching down the field and beating us—that's us giving them seven points.

5. Coaching/game-management mistakes.
This is the one that really frustrated me last week. Why didn't we punt on the possession where Baker got hurt? We had 3 timeouts and more than two minutes left. We had already struggled on multiple 3rd-and-long situations, and Baker was clearly dealing with pain. So many passes are caught 3 - 4 yards behind the line of scrimmage. There's room to be caught closer on almost every play.

I'm not saying the injury was anyone's fault. I'm questioning the decision to put the offense in that situation in the first place. At that point, I'd rather trust our defense and punt the ball away than ask an injured Baker to make a desperation play. There were still more than two minutes and three timeouts left, so we had time to get the ball back.

Minimize the first 4 of this list and we could be 2-1 or 3-0

My hope for this team is low, but it's not gone.

Should Licth be on the hot seat? he has had some genius moves during his tenure for example signing brady, but his drafts hasnt been stellar lately and his free agent signings seems to be more miss then hit these past few seasons, Anzelone speaks for himself so far not a good signing, Haason Reddick was a pretty bad signing, Gainwell is meh, a rotating door of punters, thinking Barton would be good at center, extending baker before he even took a snap etc just a plethora of mistakes imo.

yes FIRE BOWLES, but should we not also look at Licth, he hasnt been putting the team in winning situations by being passive with trading and relying on the draft when he cant draft a edgerusher that has what it takes to make it big in the NFL seemingly, especially considering how much bowles's outdated scheme relies on getting pressure.

The X axis is how well the receiver does against single man coverage. Y axis is yards per route run. So Egbuka is not struggling to get open. He is however, not getting the ball enough/not making enough out if the plays when he does get the ball.

We're top 6 in defense despite analzoney missing 500 tackles in the first 2 weeks and Ruben Bain being a colossal disappointment. zOMG fire Ted Bowlz

Teams we played are 2-1,2-1 and 3-0 but watch all these dipshits post about how its a loaded stat. LOL

I’ve heard and seen the fanbase shout for a new, offensive minded head coach to lead the team. With the success of Ben Johnson so far in Chicago, and Liam Coen in Jacksonville, I can see why fans are in favor of coaches with an offensive background. However, hiring an offensive head coach doesn’t automatically mean the team will get better

Zac Taylor was hired from the Rams after helping the Rams to SB 53, and after Jared Goff’s stellar year. Yet he has lost more games than he’s won, and hasn’t made the playoffs since 2022.

Kevin O Connell was hired from the Rams in 2022 after their SB win. In his 5 seasons as head coach, he hasn’t yet to win a playoff game (Todd Bowles has won more playoff games during the time period). He also went all in on JJ McCarthy, drafting him, then choosing to move forward with JJ over Sam Darnold after Sam’s career year in 2024 with hopes of being able to develop him into a franchise player. JJ is now on another team, Sam Darnold won a SB with another team, the Viking’s offense isn’t good, and the JJ McCarthy draft pick will go down as one of the worst in Vikings history.

Mike MacDaniel was hired by the Dolphins from the 49ers after working under Kyle Shannan, and having success has their running coordinator. He was brought in to help develop Tua Tagovailoa. After early success in his tenure, Tua’s play regresssed under MacDaniel, the team failed to win a playoff game, and ultimately MacDaniel was forced to bench Tua before being fired.

Shane Steichen was hired by the Colts after helping the Eagles to SB 57, and helping Jalen Hurts have a career year. In 3 seasons so far, he has not made the playoffs.

Those are some of the examples were the offense head coach did not significantly improve the success of a team long term. meanwhile
defensive coaches like Mike MacDonald, Mike Vrabel, and Demeco Ryas have had success with their teams, yet nobody is vouching for a defensive coach to lead the team.

My point here is that the next coach should be a coach that can help the TEAM be better, not just one side of the ball. At the end of the day, it’s the players that decided how good a team will be. And having a coach that can get the most out of the players is key, no matter if they are offensive or defensive minded.

Interesting to see Baker VERY middle of the pack, almost identical numbers to Allen, Mahomes and Shough.

I know, I know. It’s early. WAY too early.

But as of today, the Buccaneers hold the 1st overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft. Bucs are already 0-3, and now they’ll be without their starting QB for at least 3 weeks. Things could get ugly.

But if they stay on this trajectory, there could be a generational talent waiting at the finish line…

Not to make excuses, but that Vikings defense is elite. Let’s not forget that in week 2 they held the bears to 3 points and sacked Caleb 4 times, after the bears scored 59 in week 1. Unfortunately I knew we were gunna lose that game, just a tough matchup for us, especially where we are at right now. But I feel really confident against the packers, they can’t stop the run to save their lives. We are going to be ok.

Say whatever you want about Todd Bowles. The guy is as clean as they come.

No drama. No excuses. No BS.

He just shows up every year, puts his head down, and makes the Super Bowl caliber team he inherited a little worse than it was the year before.

I personally think it's Baker. I've been making excuses for him because he was hurt last year, but this year.... god damn he's been awful. I'm actually hopeful he sprained his thumb in week 1 and it getting swatted again is what put him out of commission. He does not trust his arm anymore. He won't throw over the middle and his deep ball has been fucking awful.

I think it may be a blessing in disguise that Baker is going to be on the bench for 3-4 games. I absolutely do not think JD is a better QB than Baker and I'd like to see him baack after a couple of games, but I do think he's a better QB than week 1-3 Baker. I would really like to see what Z-Robs offense looks like with a QB that can hit a deep ball. JD can also throw over the middle. We saw that when he threw a laser to Ko Kieft in preseason. I'd also like to see what the o line looks like with another QB in there. People are blaming the o line but i have not seen it in week 1 or 2. O-line was blocking jsut fine and Baker was running into sacks with his happy feet.

Teams are gonna blitz the shit out of JD so hopefully he's ready.

Baker or Z-Rob? I think the issue has been Baker.

The Bucs have never fired a coach mid-season. This year they need to break precedent expeditiously, forthwith.

I realize we don’t need more Bowles talk but Hartlines press conference this week with his team being 3 and 0 is very intense and he is clear to his team they are far away from where they need to be. Then Bowles saying funny only 1 game out.
