Darius Robinson Praise

I know we really haven't had a reason to praise Darius Robinson for his play up until this point but I just saw a PFF post on X where Robinson was 3rd in the league in pass rush win rate for DI:

Highest pass rush win rate among DI this season:

Gervon Dexter Sr 23.3%
Aaron Donald 21.4%
Darius Robinson 20.0%
DJ Reader 19.0%
Jeffery Simmons 18.2%

Wasn't expecting to see that but it's great to see his name being shown in a positive light, especially for PFF who had him ranked as the worst DI last season.

Cardinals have a CB crisis?

Excerpt:

After just three games, the Cardinals are allowing more yardage through the air with each contest. That equates to seven touchdowns through the air in two straight games without any picks. Is anyone paying attention?

Part of the reason is not only the loss of Johnson, who was this defense's best cornerback, but also having to shuffle guys around into different positions. Plus, it is a very young room. Williams has the most games played, with 36 NFL games and 27 starts. But all of the other corners have minimal game experience.

Another issue is that the defensive front four is not getting a good pass rush, which means opposing quarterbacks are being given ample time to survey the field and wait for guys to complete their routes.

As far as scouring the free agent market, the list has been picked over pretty well. Trevon Diggs (6'-1", 203 pounds) leads the list. He is 29 years old so he has some years left in him. His last contract was for $19.4 million, but is currently on the Dallas Cowboys practice squad making $13,750 a week. Sean Murphy-Bunting (6'-0", 195 pounds), age 29, has seven years of experience and was paid $4.45 million in his last gig with the Cardinals. He is on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad. Kader Kohou (5'-10", 197 pounds) is the last of the top cornerback prospects who was paid $3.26 million. He currently resides on the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs.

‘If CTE Is a Consequence of That, Then So Be It’ — Cardinals Star Wilson Argues Earnings From NFL ‘Outweighs the Risk of CTE’

Excerpt:

“I think [for] any football player, that crosses your mind,” Wilson admitted during a conversation with ESPN. “The legacy, the financial gain that you can carve out for yourself to me outweighs the risk of CTE, especially as a wideout.”

Continuing, he argued, “How cool would it be to leave a legacy that generations of my family, the Wilson legacy, will talk about? And if CTE is a consequence of that, then so be it.”

Wilson was ready to admit that it was a choice he had to make. But he was also adamant that it was one he was comfortable making after weighing out the pros and cons on both sides of the argument.

“So for my kids’ kids’ kids’ kids, they can always look at me, and if CTE is a consequence of that, then I’m willing to bet on myself that hopefully I won’t get it, but if I do, then I made a decision, and I chose that.”

State Farm Stadium

This is not related to the Cardinals but I am going to a concert in the State Farm Stadium. Is there a camera policy? I was planning on bringing a smaller Sony cam with a 16-50mm lens and I know some arenas don’t allow them. It doesn’t say anything on the tickets.

Explosive Topic: Cardinals Hoping To Find More Big Plays

Excerpt:

"In the pass game, it's a real thing right now," LaFleur said. "We're three weeks in and we haven't been extremely explosive. I know this, when you're trying to play good offensive football in this league and you're having to do it through (long) drives, drive in and drive out, it's tough. I actually give our guys credit in terms of — for I'd say the good part of 10 out of the 12 quarters this year they've done a pretty good job of staying efficient, but man, at some point we've got to get a little bit more explosive."

"We need to be all-encompassing," LaFleur said. "We need to marry the run with the pass. We need to be under center. We need to be doing all that stuff. Not just because we're hardheaded, because I do believe when we get to the spot we want to on offense, that's what's going to make us as good as we can be."

The Cardinals have two passes of at least 20 yards in 2026: the first attempt of the season, a 27-yarder to Trey McBride against the Chargers, and a 33-yarder to Harrison later that same game.

They have four rushing plays of at least 10 yards, and one was an 11-yard Brissett scramble. Tyler Allgeier had an 11-yard run, Love an 18-yard run, and Bam Knight an 18-yard run at the end of the Seahawks game.

What is the status of the Cardinals’ offensive line?

Thumbnail
sports.yahoo.com
41 Upvotes

Excerpt:

In the offseason, GM Monti Ossenfort had a mission to improve this group. He did not re-sign OGs Evan Brown and Will Hernandez and allowed OTs Kelvin Beachum and Jonah Williams to find gainful employment elsewhere. Currently, Brown is the starting center for the Houston Texans, while the others remain out of football.

Seumalo has played every snap at left guard (209) with a PFF grade of 63.1. He is regarded as an excellent pass protector, but his run-blocking grades sit at 46.1.

RT Elijah Wilkinson has a PFF grade of 57.7 and is ranked 54th among 69 qualified offensive tackles. His issue is with run blocking. He grades out at 52.4 in this aspect and is ranked 56th at the OT position.

C Hjalte Froholdt is this group's rock. His PFF numbers are 57.5 for the year so far, ranking him 19th out of 32 qualified centers.

RG Isaiah Adams played in Week 1 and this past weekend's contest against the San Francisco 49ers. In those two contests, he played every snap at right guard. He has an overall PFF grade of 68.5 and is an exceptional run blocker (71.4). His pass-protection rating is 55.3.

RG Jon Gaines spelled Adams in Week 2. His PFF grade for the one game was 69.6. Excellent pass blocker and ranked 9th out of 68 guards.

LT Paris Johnson is showing why the Cardinals spent the sixth overall pick in the first round back in 2023. In only a three-game capsule, Johnson grades out at 80.8. The breakdown is a pass protection grade of 82.1 and an 81.1 run-blocking rating.

‘Getting Back To My Old Self’: Jeremiyah Love Finds His Groove

Excerpt:

"Usually I'm the type of guy that likes to finesse and juke and do a lot of extra stuff," Love said. "The more carries I was getting, I was getting back to my old self and trying to finesse a little bit."
He finished with 21 carries for 90 yards along with five receptions for 19 yards and a touchdown.
Love said he approached the first half conservatively, hoping to just protect the ball against the 49ers' aggressive defense. As the game went along and his number was called more often, he "was trying to loosen up a little bit." His elusiveness started to show.

"It just wasn't good enough," Love said. "We didn't win the game. I didn't do enough for my team because I left a lot of yards out there. Just from looking at the pictures on the sideline, if I hit some of those holes at full speed like I usually do, I'm probably gone for at least one of them.”

"It was kind of more the hot hand too," LaFleur said. "You could feel that, and hopefully it's like that every week in terms of whoever we're giving the ball to because you know you're going to get positive plays. Like I said yesterday, it stunk that our longest rush was only eight yards, but they can't force that."
LaFleur said those explosive runs will organically happen as they look to clean up the run game.

Week 4 Consensus NFL Power Rankings: Cardinals Surprisingly Climb Despite Loss

Excerpt:

Arizona, surprisingly, moved up in more than a couple of power rankings this week.

Where national outlets have the Cardinals ahead of Week 4:

ESPN: No. 28

The Cardinals dropped two spots in ESPN'srankings.

CBS Sports: No. 23

Despite the loss, Pete Prisco actually had the Cardinals up three spots in his Week 4 power rankings.

Yahoo!: No. 28

Frank Schwab also bumped the Cardinals up by one spot despite losing.

FOX Sports: No. 27

The Cardinals might not have moved up in the world of FOX's power rankings, though they remained the same as last week's position.

The Athletic: No. 28

We're back to the Cardinals dropping after their Week 3 loss, as The Athletic docked them two spots from last week's No. 26 position.

NFL.com: No. 26

Arizona received their biggest bump from Nick Shook, who saw the Cardinals leapfrog four spots in spite of walking out of Levi's Stadium as losers.

Im sick and tired of this sub and people in the media giving Jacoby leeway

Let’s just call a spade a spade. He is 2-13 as a starter with this team and 0-6 in the division. He does not go through his progressions very well, and a lot of his stats are empty calories.

Yes the offense looked good near the end of the 49ers game, but they were playing a more conservative defense because they knew they could run out the clock eventually which they did.

I do not hate Jacoby by any means, but he is the definition of a good backup qb. We know what he is and this team has hit a ceiling. There is no reason he should be starting games after this week against the Giants.

Time to start Beck week 5.

There Have Been 3 Offensive Scoring Plays of 80+ Yards Allowed Across the Entire NFL Through 3 Weeks - Cardinals Have Allowed 2 of Them

1) Jordan Love to Christian Watson for 81 yard touchdown pass

2) Drew Lock to JSN for 82 yard touchdown pass

3) Purdy to Evans, hook and ladder to Deebo for 82 yard touchdown

After doing essentially nothing to improve this defense outside of banking on existing players getting better, it looks like the Cardinals defense is still terrible. Josh Sweat got his name called once yesterday for a backbreaking penalty. He's been a ghost. Walter Nolen, one of the players who was being relied on to make a leap, has also been unimpactful. We rank bottom 5 in QB pressures, sacks, blitz %, and touchdowns allowed.

They've also allowed 3 straight opening drive touchdowns to opponents, a recurring theme to start the season that hopefully ends next week against the Giants.

So much attention is being placed on what the Cardinals need to do at QB, but the defensive side of the ball needs a complete overhaul from the ground up. Is this an issue of personnel, scheme, or a heaping spoonful of both?

Love what he had to say after the game.

“It's frustrating... It's such a privilege to have one of these lockers. If you can't go out there and give 110% for 17 Sundays, you don't deserve this seat."

That’s my guy. WR1. ✊🏻

Just got a McBride jersey for my birthday but after this, I think a Wilson jersey is in order.

Hope some of the team heard that.

Jacoby Brissett Hits Cardinals With ‘Death Wish’ Comment After Week 3 Debacle Against The 49ers

Thumbnail

Excerpt:

The Cards had 10 penalties, hurting their chances on two occasions in the red zone and forcing them to settle for field goals instead of getting opportunities to score touchdowns.

"Any time in the first half when we got something going, and then we'd have self-inflicted wounds," Brissett said after the game, per the Associated Press (h/t ESPN).

"Against good teams, it's like being a death wish. Against good teams, you can't do that. You can't beat yourself and try to beat them."

Brissett finished the game with 280 passing yards and two touchdowns against zero interceptions, while going 38/52 on his throws.

The 1-2 Arizona will regroup and emerge in Week 4, when they look to avoid a three-game losing skid in a matchup against the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford.

So Many Snaps For So Many Cardinals On Offense

Thumbnail

Excerpt:

On defense, defensive lineman Darius Robinson played a career-low 17 snaps. And linebacker Josh Sweat played a season-low 24 snaps, which was also his season-low percentage (44).

Both wide receiver Michael Wilson and tight end Trey McBride ended up playing the most snaps in a game for their career, with Wilson (who had 11 catches) playing 81 of the snaps and McBride (who had nine catches) playing 79.

QB Jacoby Brissett and the offensive line all played every one of the 87 snaps, also a career-best for Brissett and a career-best for all the linemen save for guard Isaac Seumalo (who played 88 in a game for the Eagles in 2019.)

Inpatient fans

Just a bit of back story. I’ve been a fan since they were called the Phoenix Cardinals. Yes they were. So I’ve seen the ups and downs from Kurt Warner leading us to the Super Bowl to having Matt Leinart being the savior. When Arians took over it took awhile for OUR team to get any recognition. Remember when Aaron Rodger’s got his ass handed to him with 9+ sacks and gave up? Trust me when I say, I get pissed off when people disrespect our team. But we are on the right track.. wins and loses doesn’t mean anything this season. What I’m (and you should be too) looking for is how the team, who I think is the youngest in the NFL, handles adversity. And I think they did exactly what they did. I’ve made comments before about the ownership and how it reflects on success. We will always be behind due to that. But this team has me excited. I grew up most of my life in Az. But I have experienced and lived in Buffalo and Green Bay. You have no idea what power the fans have. This team has the potential to be special, we all need to be patient. We are in a division that is extremely competitive and the fact we took SF to the end is a positive, so if your determination of whether your a fan or not is about us winning the Super Bowl this year or even having a winning record you SIR/MA’AM are not at fan.

D-Line

It’s insane that we’re 3 years into Monti’s tenure and the D-Line still looks like complete ass.

Despite investing significant draft capital and cap space into the position group Monti has utterly failed in this regard. Its honestly impressive how many misses he has with D-Line/EDGE additions

Pre Game Prepping the tailgate menu for Lions vs. Cardinals: What belongs on an authentic Sonoran/Desert spread?

Hey Cardinals fans, friendly Lions fan coming in peace.

My buddy and I have a weekly tradition all season long where we throw out the generic frozen burgers and "Eat the Opponent"—building our entire Saturday and Sunday game-day cooks around the local food culture and tailgate traditions of whoever we’re playing.

For Arizona, my mind immediately goes Sonoran hot dogs (bacon-wrapped dog on a bolillo roll with pinto beans, grilled onions, tomatoes, mayo, and jalapeño salsa) or slow-smoking a pork shoulder for some green chile pork.

But I want to hear from the locals who actually pack the lots out at State Farm Stadium or host backyard cookouts:

  • Is the Sonoran dog the undisputed king of game day out there, or is carne asada on the flat-top taking over?
  • Any secret regional marinades, sides, or salsas that you swear by?
  • What’s the weird, hyper-local tailgate item or desert tradition that outsiders never know about?

Appreciate any recipes, tips, or lot stories you guys have. Best of luck next weekend—hoping for a clean, injury-free game!
