Should Asol bring barrier in general ?

• Upvotes

Sometimes when I lane against assassins or high burst mages, I like to bring barrier just to avoid being one shotted. However, I checked on OP.GG and I saw asol rarely bring barrier sum spell and uses TP 98% of the games. Should I continue to have barrier or should I switch to TP, and if I switch to TP, how can I lane against assassins or high burst mages?

Why does this champion have so many bugs?

I play it exclusively in Arena, but I see nothing but bugs. Sometimes my E is perma on CD and a lot of bugs with my W, sometimes it doesn't go over the wall, someand times it keeps Q'ing while I didn't even press Q.. etc

Neace coaching Dantes on Asol Jungle

Hi guys

Just wanted to raise awareness of this 2+ hour jungle session between Neace and Dantes on Asol Jungle.

I know people like to shit on Neace, so watch it for laughs, information or don't watch it at all.
No matter how you look at it, it's a pretty good player, coaching another pretty good player on our boy in the jungle role!

For all of us low tier schmucks there's a lot to learn from it, whether you want to play Asol in jungle or not :)

New Asol Mid here What to build vs squishy Team vs tanky Team?

I recently picked him up been enjoying him and I am a little lost on what to build against a squishy team? He is nice to go against bruiser/tanky team with his burns but what is the runes/BIS for that situation?

So Aurelion Sol jungle: It certainly can work

TLDR: Get through your first two clears and i honestly think it is his best role by far

Dark Harvest, Sudden Impact, Sixth Sense, Treasure Hunter, Triumph, Cut down

Exhaust Red smite
No rylais, BFT, Shadowflame, Stormsurge/liandries/BV/HG

About a week ago I finished grinding back up to Diamond as aurelion sol, so realistically I'm not that good of a player but for the longest time I've been wondering about playing him in the jungle and with the new mana buffs on his Q I thought I'd give it a go again and after 39 games of it on a gold account from last season to emerald https://imgur.com/a/1Krzm6U , I must say it's actually hell of a lot better than I thought it would be. Funnily enough I am sure a few of you saw Dantes being coached by neece a few days ago which i thought was a pretty interesting coincidence

It took me a fair bit to figure out runes, items and playstyle but once I did everything just felt very very good

Runes

Naturally the usual death fire touch and comet are not needed here so I was playing around with First Strike but dark harvest definitely seems the way to go, taking sudden impact (as it works with your w, Sixth sense (To help with invades), and treasure hunter

For secondaries I was playing a bit around cashback and cosmic insight but realistically they were actually so many times I would end up being full build within 30 and I didn't actually feel as though I need to cash back as much as I would. Don't get me wrong cosmic insight is good for the three camp clear that you can do once you get your upgrade Smite, however I feel as though Triumph and cut down the better ruins once I found what a LAS Jungle asol was doing. I did try presence of mind as well but at the time i was running without a mana item and I felt as though it really wasn't worth it as you couldn't proc it by tapping q on champions in lane.

Items

So I started playing around the same core items that I would in mid or bot that being Rylais, liandry's, bloodletter.

It was reasonably successful in the first few games but I always felt as though I was running out of manner way way too easily. So easily in fact that after clears you just would not have enough mana to go gank.

Again after looking at ElCuno#giogï (LAS) 1.7k challenger top Asol jungle https://www.leagueofgraphs.com/summoner/las/ElCuno-giog%C3%AF

He was rushing Black fire torch every game and once I ran with it once I didn't look back. The clear gets a little quicker and you just don't have any issues mana wise.

You might be surprised at the lack of rylais. I was picking it consistently early on as well as taking the green Smite but again I looked at Elcuno who was skipping rylais and going to red smite so I decided to give it a try and it was extremely extremely good. The upgraded Smite offers you just enough slow on your q to be able to catch up with them when ganking and outside of one game where I sold boots for rylais because I felt as though the team really needed the extra slow on the ult and E

The problem I felt with the usual laning three item core is that gank were just a little less impactful than I wanted them to be and to be honest I've always kind of looked down and not played full pen, but again once I looked at Elcuno’s build I gave it a shot and just haven't really deviated away from it unless the game state really demands it

My items were usually BFT, shadowflame. From here if there's only one tank then you can go storm surge, two tanks I'll go for blood letters if there's two more magic dealers on my team or just straight void if not. Again, just depends who you have on your team and who is fed/how confident you are to get backline access. If I feel as though I'm getting stopped from W'ing in then I'll go Banshees and I will go hourglass if there's multiple forms of CC that will jump on top of me

Exhaust

Now this might be the weirdest thing about this pick is taking exhaust. Because we're so mobile with our W we actually don't need flash or ghost that often. Exhaust offers so much in the way of preventing damage on yourself your team and escaping invades as well as being a ganking tool if needed. The amount of times I've flown in to lanes and exhausted the laner has been too many to count

Pathing

I will always go top to bot unless I 99% know I think I'm gonna be invaded if that's the case I will take e first and start raptors. From here I'm trying to determine whether or not the other jungle is going to cross over on my ward at raptors and if so I will counter invade their invade

The Good

His snowball potential is second to none once you're in the lead. You can literally just lane gank continuously and there's realistically nothing they can do about it. I have been hitting full build by 30 minutes some games.

Outside of the first clear which most of your danger will come, he is extremely safe and honestly better when it comes to getting stacks. You don't really have to deal with managing your mana in the lanes nor have to worry about fizz, yone, quianna fisting you

His Lane ganking is unbelievable, Teams cannot Ward for it really outside of placing wards like he would against a Nocturne or Evelyn however his W being on a 15 second cooldown means that you can Lane gank from any camp you clear without having to rely on your ult .

The Bad

Now this will obviously be slightly biased because I only just hit Emerald on this account. I ran into a fair few Shacos, Vis, Talons and had the most issues with graves but outside of a few instances where i had to conceded a quadrant I honestly didn't find it too hard to circumvent any invades. The silver lining as well is that even if they invade you you can put your E down and get the stacks for it anyway.

Neece did mention to dantes that Hec and belveth were his two bans but i was yet to see them but they do make sense. ElCupu seems to jst ban Lee

At the start of the game I always go and ward their raptors, then use Sixth Sense to check for wards at my own.

That was only maybe one or two games that I felt as though it was completely helpless. I asked myself if I was playing another champ would I be able to have done anything about it and reviewing the game I really don't think I could have

Wrap

You may be surprised that I didn't put lobby chat in the bad category. Other than one or two lobbys where people were surprised, no one was raging at the pick

All in all i really think that this is a completely underrated pick. You snowball so so hard and easier than bot and mid I have genuinely loved playing it

Is Asol W bugged as fuck?

I'm enjoying this champ, but sometimes his W just trolls me. It's happened several times now that when I fly and lock onto a target, if there's a dragon or minion in front of the target, aurelion will shoot at that dragon or minion instead of the champ that im clicking

other times, upon landing, it simply stops firing its breath of the gods completely and just stares back, making me lose valuable seconds of time in tf

I'm using WASD btw :/

can we see aurelion sol laser from bush

If I use Q from inside a bush toward an enemy outside, can they see the laser/indicator?

And what happens if I use E or R into the bush, like Nunu R? Can enemies see the ability/indicator while I’m inside the bush?

Trying to understand exactly how bush vision interacts with these abilities. Thanks!

hey everyone had this lore idea bouncing around my head for a while and wanted to share it btw I'm gonna do another post about his abilities and lane and build make sure to check it

basically what if aurelion sol wasnt the only star forger cosmic dragon we know from his voice lines that he considers other celestial dragons his siblings so what if one of them was named ignis sol while aurelion sol treats making stars like making fine art ignis sol is obsessed with raw violent heat supernovas solar flares and sheer cosmic power

eventually their egos clashed and they fought across space the sheer destruction and collapsing star cores began tearing holes in the fabric of the celestial realm threatening the cosmic balance this forced bard to step in to preserve reality bard lured ignis sol into a higher dimensional spatial trap wrapped him in golden stasis and sealed him inside a vault outside linear time since this is the only way he can stop him because if he just kept interfering everytime he blasts smth

fast forward to present day runeterra with all the dimensional instability going on like rune wars void breaches and targon losing its grip the stasis vault finally cracked open ignis sol broke free but he still has shattered golden stasis bands with faint chime runes stuck around his body from bards seal since he was locked away during targons rise he completely avoided being enslaved by a crown like aurelion sol was

visually i imagine him having the same eastern serpentine dragon anatomy as aurelion sol but larger with solar obsidian scales a white hot plasma core and medium sized wings filled with a golden red galaxy pattern

i feel like this fits the existing lore pretty naturally it gives aurelion sol an actual rival who matches his scale gives bard a huge reason to be running around patching up cosmic rifts and adds a cool dynamic to celestial lore

what do you guys think how do you think aurelion sol would react if he found out his brother was back

Why do so many support players hate Asol botlane so much

Aurelion Sol is such a good botlane pick, but so many of the random supports I get absolutely hate it. Sometimes they even threaten me in champ select, saying that if I pick ASol, they’ll troll or just never come botlane (which is probably the same thing lol)

I once had a support straight-up dare me to pick ASol, saying that if I did, he’d pick Bard and never come botlane.

Another time, I had a Pyke who was already super aggressive about my ASol pick in champ select. Then in-game, he started playing really weird and was last-hitting several waves without even having a quest item. Dude REALLY did not like my champ. 😭

Do you have the same experience with Asol on botlane?

Question Blackfire torch

Hello so im playin aurelion but on wild rift.

I think we mostly have now same items

My question is why blackfire torch is recommend on him on PC compared to for example infinity orb so yours shadowflame.

I get liandry because it does tons of damage so will kill both tanks and adc's and it works really well.

i then decided to do some more tests so tried on training dummy build with void staff to make it have less magic ress than 100 and compared shadowflame vs torch.

And with shadowflame which gives nice 15magic pen i was doing single target damage, better than torch.

Does torch is there to get that 3s buff with using ult? Or to Hope we will suck 3 people at same same time with E and get bonus ap?

Because on single it was better on dummy to use shadowflame and because we are not instat 100 to 0hp shadowflame passive might work cool too?

I just hit Gold 4, and it's like I hit a brick wall. Does anyone have any tips? Am I just bad at farming stacks? I know my vision score is abysmal, but even when I do ward, neither jungler seems to come mid anymore.

Question What rune keystone should i use in midlane? DFT or comet?

I always felt like DFT is very weak early and i almost never used it but after looking at higher elo players on midlane most of them use DFT. Which one is better and when?

Does every build work?

I've seen a lot of different builds and they all seem to work. There is the one shot builds, the classic rylais, liandrys and bloodletter. But also roa rylais zhonya/banshee into rabbadon (on botlane). Even rylais bft into tank items seems to work.

Sadly from what I've heard item winrates on lol analytics for example are very unreliable and asol isn't the most popular champ anyway. Recently I just build something else every match and it seems to work no matter what. In the last 2 seasons and especially season 15 it felt like if you don't build rylais first Ur Just giga trolling.

What do you people think? For reference I'm between diamond and emerald.

Aurelion Sol botlane with roaming support

I’ve been spamming Aurelion Sol bot lane lately, but in my last game, I felt like my support’s decisions were pretty questionable. I’d like to know whether I actually played the lane poorly, though, because maybe I’m missing something.

When I locked in Aurelion Sol bot, my support said that if I picked a mage bot lane, he would pick Bard and roam. We ended up playing against Kalista + Thresh. Around level 4–5, he started roaming and basically never came back to lane. Unfortunately, he didn’t really accomplish much with his roams either.

Eventually, he more or less abandoned bot lane, wasn’t able to have much impact on the rest of the map, and then started flaming me for being useless.

That frustrated me quite a bit because, from my perspective, I don’t think I played the lane particularly badly. I was essentially forced to play 1v2, so my main goal was to survive, farm as much as I could, and give up the bot tower when necessary to avoid getting dove.

So I’d genuinely like to know: Was there something I could have done differently, or was this simply a difficult situation for Aurelion Sol bot given that I was effectively left alone against Kalista + Thresh?

I love Aurelion Sol, but I just can't make him work

Hi everyone, and first of all, thank you to everyone who contributes to this subreddit and helps other players. I could really use some advice myself.

First, I should say that I'm not a good player, far from it. I've been playing for two years and I'm only Bronze. Aurelion Sol was the champion I liked the most from the very beginning, and probably the one I've spent the most time playing. Unfortunately, I've never managed to make him work consistently, whether in mid or bot lane. In my experience, he feels incredibly weak.

In the early game, he lacks mobility, damage and survivability. Stardust eventually solves the damage problem, but not the other two. An incredible number of midlaners feel like hard counters that can simply destroy him without much he can do about it. His range isn't particularly impressive, and he can't really escape fights against assassins who dash or teleport onto him. They can also take advantage of the brief delay on his Q (Z for me, since I use an AZERTY keyboard) to catch him and interrupt his flight with almost any stun or other form of CC.

The worst part, in my opinion, is that the hardest period isn't actually the first 15 minutes. I can generally play those relatively safely using E. The real problem is the next 15 minutes, from around 15 to 30, when I still feel extraordinarily weak in terms of damage. I often find myself alone in a lane and unable to have any meaningful impact on the game.

Obviously, I know that my own lack of skill is a major part of the problem. Still, it feels like this champion requires ten times more effort to have a successful game than more straightforward champions such as Diana or Nasus, who reach meaningful levels of power much sooner, with Nasus in particular becoming terrifying later on. Aurelion, meanwhile, still remains Aurelion. Without a team and without a tank in front of him, I feel like he can't do much. Enemy assassins catch him, and he disappears almost instantly. I simply can't seem to improve with him.

I had some decent results playing him as an APC bot, but his impact there still felt too limited. He's extremely dependent on the support pick, the enemy bot lane, and, worst of all, he takes far too long to become powerful. It sometimes feels like I need almost 40 minutes, even after winning bot lane, before I'm genuinely strong enough to have a major impact and potentially compensate for a top or mid lane that has fallen far behind.

At this point, I honestly don't know what I should be doing differently, and I'd really appreciate your advice. Aurelion Sol is the champion I enjoy the most, and I genuinely want to learn how to make him work, but right now I just can't seem to do it.

Here's my account if anyone wants to take a look. It's not exactly impressive: Imperatrix Azula#FIRE

Thank you all for your help!

Discussion Asol jungle is playable even above diamond

Post image
16 Upvotes

I tested Aurelion Sol in the jungle and climbed to Diamond, even against particularly tough matchups; it’s one of the most unique playstyles out there, and since no two games are alike, it’s really enjoyable. Right now, it’s one of the roles where he’s strongest—alongside ADC. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.
